We spent a wonderful week at Domus Rosarum in October 2013. Marco and Barbara were such generous and thoughtful hosts. Together, they have created a beautiful and welcoming garden retreat that we will always remember. We only wished that we could have spent more than a week in that lovely place.
Domus Rosarum is located in the Monticelli area just outside Monselice, a few minutes drive from historic arqua Petrarca and the rustic Euganean Hills. The apartment is a tasteful renovation of a historical structure. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the views from every window are serene. The property is situated inside a locked gate, and the car parking is right in front of the house. Everything was well-maintained, and Marco and Barbara provided everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. They included maps, guide books, restaurant discounts, fresh fruit from their garden, and much more. We prepared our breakfasts, and a few dinners, in the modern kitchen. There was also a TV, stereo, CDs and Dvds, but we never really used these features.
This was our ninth visit to Italy, but only our first trip to the Veneto region. Our travel interests include gardens, villas, art, architecture, delicious food and wine, which can all be found in abundance within short drives by car. We visited Venice, Padua, Abano Terme, Montanagna, Monselice, Arqua Petrarca, Valsanzibio, Vescovana, and Stra. This offered us a good sampling of the historic and modern cultures that co-exist in this spectacular landscape of northeastern Italy. Please don't rush or hurry when visiting Italy - leave something more to be seen on a return visit.
We loved Domus Rosarum, and we are hoping we can return soon for another stay in Marco and Barbara's beautiful garden.
