We stayed in the small apartment in which we were very warmly welcomed by Oxana and Eugenio with some Antipasti and Wine as a welcome present. The apartment provided enough space for the two of us and has a huge terrace with a spectacular view over Rome and the neighboring hills. We had often breakfast on the terrace and spent many evenings there.
The apartment is nicely located in Marino, a small, quiet and friendly town near Rome. Close to the apartment (ca. 5 min walk) is the train station with a good connection to Rome, which makes Marino a perfect base for visiting when you do not want to stay in Rome itself. Close to the apartment are numerous restaurants, and also a small supermarket is located nearby. In addition, more small shops can be found towards the center of the town. We especially fell in love with the Mucca Pazza, a small vegetarian restaurant run by the very friendly and warm hearted Monica and Damiano, located just around the corner of the apartment.
Marino is part of the regional park Castelli Romani, being slightly elevated compared to Rome, what leads to a slightly lower temperatures compared to Rome. Part of the regional park are also two volcanic lakes, the larger of which, the Lago Albano, is about 5 min away by car. Especially the Lago Albano provides the opportunity for nice hikes and has a number of bathing places where one can rent deck chairs and umbrellas. Close to Marino are other towns like Frascati, Castell Gandolfo, Nemi and the ancient town Tusculum, which are all worth a visit.
Oxana and Eugenio are very friendly, open minded, helpful and supportive, providing a lot of useful information about Marino, the Castelli Romani area, and Rome, and it was a great pleasure for us to have been their guests. We clearly plan to come back some time in the future. Many thanks, Oxana, Eugenio and family.
