We (family of 3 including myself, husband and adult daughter) thoroughly enjoyed our first stay on Corfu in this ideally situated villa in Paleokastritsa. We could not have imagined a more perfect and peaceful spot to take in all the stunning views, natural beauty and nearby options for exploring in every direction. Villa Thleki is located in a very quiet neighborhood, above the main road, just a short walk down a path alongside other lovely gardens, villas, and the Hotel Odysseus (with pool access), offering quick and easy access to everything that this unique and incredibly beautiful the area has to offer. Within minutes are extensive options for activities and dining: plenty of beaches, swimming coves, a marina, the monastery, markets, vendors, and tavernas, everything always with exceptional views and a dramatic backdrop of fantastic scenery.
We adored living in this ‘home away from home’ for the week, nestled on the hillside below the charming hilltop village of Lakones (accessible either by donkey trail or by road - we enjoyed a full day hiking and walking to and from Bella Vista for even more spectacular views). The week went by too quickly though! We wish we had more time to stay and be less enticed by all the area activities and exploring, and more time to relax and simply enjoy all the peaceful beauty from this very quiet and private-feeling oasis. In addition to waking to the happy sounds of birds twitting and chirping, sunrise views and fresh cool morning seaside air from the screened sliders, occasional visits from a couple of neighborly Corfiot cats, evenings playing cribbage and taking in the views of lights sparkling on the water below, we enjoyed the comfortable outside equally to the clean, spacious, aesthetic, and comfortably-appointed inside spaces. The beautifully terraced and landscaped yard offers different places to sit or recline under the shade of olive trees with vines, flowers, and amazing views to look at from every level and every angle. Perfect for unwinding and truly relaxing!
This picturesque view from Villa Thleki is indelibly imprinted in my newly formed memory of Paleokastritsa… verdant carpeted hills and mountain slopes of olive, dotted by pencil spires of cypress… cut high up by jutting shears of massive rock faces, tops veiled by feathery wisps of cloud vapors… descending to jagged cliffs and rocky, rugged, scalloped coastline dropping into gorgeous shades of water in blue, teal and turquoise… more suddenly steep rocks, cliffs, hills and mountains sharply ascending across the bay.
We are so grateful for finding this treasure and meeting our hosts, Spiros and ‘Roula’, who lovingly share their wonderful Greek warmth, genuine hospitality, and pride in their precious ‘Villa Thleki’ authentic family home.
