The house is in a very rural situation with outstanding views. The house is rustic and could do with a bit of t l c in some areas.( Kitchen, 2nd en suite) But that said it had comfortable beds and a great oven. Giuseppe the owner went out of his way to make us welcome providing provisions for breakfast as we arrived late due to flight delays He gave a very informative talk on Etna and was always available to give us information about the volcano and places to visit .

We spent 5 days on the slopes of Mount Etna and loved the peacefulness and amazing views. The house itself is well equiped, with all the amenities we needed. Being a little higher up, it was a bit cooler, which was a welcome relief from our previous (sea-level) location, where we struggled to sleep at night. We noticed the house is equipped with heaters, so presumably it would be nice and cosy in winter. Best of all, Giuseppe is a veritable expert on Mount Etna and had lots of anecdotes, advise and general commetns about the region. He and his wife are very passionate about the area and go out of their way to make guests feel welcome and help them plan their stay. Highly recommended.

Casa Etnea Volcano House is in a spectacular location on the slopes of Etna. The owner Giuseppe is a great host and very knowledgeable about the volcano, its geology and its history. He has written several books on Etna which can be found in the cottage. He went out of his way to make our stay special, including a tour of a nearby lava flow cave, and a quick text message was all that was needed if we needed a question answered. The cottage is in a remote location - around 30-40 minutes' drive from Catania Airport - and a hire car is essential, but we were able to explore eastern and southern Sicily in day trips. It is a short drive to the Rifugio Sapienza in order to climb Etna. The location of the cottage means that water is in short supply and you will need to bring bottled water for drinking (as seems to be normal in Sicily) -- water from the tap can be used for boiling and washing. As we arrived late, Giuseppe made sure we had enough bottled drinking water to last the weekend, before we were able to go to a supermarket. The kitchen is cosy but has good facilities -- if you are planning to cook regularly you might want to bring a sharp knife and a spare tea towel or two. The bedrooms are very comfortable and maintained to a high standard, with plenty of bathrooms. There is easily space to park a couple of cars behind a locked gate. Although we stayed in October when it was becoming a little chilly in the evening, there was nevertheless plenty of time to sit outside in the garden area, or on our balcony with its amazing views down to Catania and out to sea. Thoroughly recommend.

Gradevole sorpresa alle falde dell'Etna, in una posizione strategica per iniziare bellissime escursioni tra boschi , grotte laviche, conetti eccentrici , in una ricca trama di stradelle adatte ad una programmazione sia escursionistica che in mtb. Non comune la passione del gestore per per l'Etna, le sue genti e questo territorio bellissimo. Consiglio di farsi dare indicazioni per percorrere lo Sciammorolupu, è possibile ottenere informazioni anche per le tracce digitali. Tutta la zona risulta ben mappata su Openstreetmap.

This is a house with a heart and the perfect place to experience the natural beauty of Mt Etna. Placed on the edge of the national park this charming old farm house sits above an old vineyard and extinct volcanic cones that are being reclaimed by nature. It is a bit of a drive out of town so a great place to unwind or base daily excursions to the mountains or to the sea. The house is spacious and divided into three comfortable flats that cater for different size groups. I was lucky to have it all to myself but this would be a great place for a large group of friends or several couples to share. They have mostly all the comforts you will need and the views really are brilliant . Guiseppe your gracious host is a passionate local expert on the mountains and volcano and is a wealth of information about the natural history of Etna and the surrounds. He went out of his way to make sure I was comfortable and experienced the best that the area had to offer. Fantastic place I was sad to leave and would definitely return.

We came to Casa Etnea for a week with our three children. We enjoyed the stay very much. The house is lovely, decorated with taste and the outside garden and surrounding nature is fantastic. The house has amazing views of kilometres of the coast and Catania, as well as views of Etna. Giuseppe, the owner, was very helpful and forthcoming. He showed us around and recommended a number of interesting walks and trips. He was available any time we needed something. We had an unforgettable holiday and will surely come back and recommend the Casa to our friends.

A pochi minuti dal centro abitato ma nel fitto dei castagneti, con una vista mozzafiato dalla Calabria a Siracusa, non è facile trovare sull'Etna un posto così bello, curato e ben servito. L'antico casale è stato restaurato con una rara intelligenza ed è pratico e comodo, adattandosi facilmente alle esigenze sia di gruppi piccoli che più numerosi, sia di grandi che di bambini. Il luogo è immerso nel bosco ma in un punto di snodo che consente in breve tempo tanto di salire sui versanti sud ed est del vulcano, quanto di scendere sulla costa. Il proprietario non si accontenta di fare "l'oste": è un appassionato dell'Etna e vi guida nei sentieri e nella conoscenza dei luoghi. Ci andiamo da diversi anni e qui abbiamo imparato ad amare quel luogo straordinario che è l'Etna.

Alors qu "en bas" les 30 à 32 degrés à l ombre nous attendait, dans cette superbe maison ( ancienne ferme viticole ) une vraie et belle fraîcheur en proximité de la forêt nous attendait. Et face à nous ... Deux magnifiques petits volcans très accessibles à pieds, et une vue fabuleuse sur le golfe de catane! Et derrière deux grottes volcaniques relativement accessibles si équipé... Pas très loin de sapienza la route vaut le détour. Giuseppe, qui parle français, est une personne sans doute très réservée mais avec une connaissance sur le volcan exceptionnelle et très accueillant ! Chambres spacieuses , très sympa, belles pièces , et superbe terrasse/jardin! La route peut rebuter mais en réalité très facile et superbe. Je recommande vivement cet endroit et de prendre le temps surtout de discuter avec notre hôte ! pour les courses à moins de 10 minutes il y a trescastagni avec tout le nécessaire jusqu'à 20h30
