We looked out for a quiet and central place to stay in the tuscan outback and that was exactly what we get. The kitchen/living room is bigger than it seems on the pictures, from there a small corridor leads to the bedrooms and the restroom between them. From the living room and the main bedroom you can access the terrace in the yard. If you like walking, nature starts right around the corner with gravel roads, forest and fields of flowers and olive trees. And if global warming misses out just when you are there you can contribute with a central heating system whre you can select the desired temperature for each hour of the day.
Last but not least the service of Filippo and his family/staff is great and fast.

Space and Privacy
The apartment is spacious, nicely furnished and well located to drive throughout Tuscany. Our host, Filippo, and his family were gracious, helpful and responded quickly to any questions/concerns. There were maps and information for all the nearby cities which were very useful when exploring Pisa, Voterra, Sienna, etc. Excellent queen bed in large bedroom, lots of hot water, good appliances. The twin beds were not comfortable to me (one too soft; one too thin), but the futon made a good second bed. The thick walls and ground level kept the apartment a pleasant temperature.The unit does not have any open windows to move air throughout the rear bedroom which had a musty smell. During our stay, the wi-fi was intermittent and the transom screen over the front door had holes which let in insects that bit. Overall, a good value for exploring a beautiful part of Tuscany. Particularly enjoyed exploring Colle di Val D'Elsa, a 10 minute drive.

A truly PERFECT holiday
We fell in love with Casa Arianna as soon as we spotted it on the web and booked it a year ahead so as not to lose it to someone else ! We were not disappointed. It has a lovely atmosphere of history and romance as well as offering modern, comfortable accommodation. Filippo and Francesca were friendly and always helpful, from booking to departure. The villagers were very welcoming and invited us to their festa di San Giovanni Apostolo.
We loved the swallows that built their nests in the portico (thoughtfully, Filippo had put up boxes to catch their droppings !) and kept us entertained for hours with their twittering and aerobatics.
Montegabbro was the perfect base from which to make outings: We went to Siena, Volterra, San Gimignano, Monteriggioni, Casole d'Elsa, Colle di Val d'Elsa and a number of Chianti villages as well as Torri and San Galgano and villas Celsa & Cetinale..
We must give the Locanda del Borgo (where Filippo works) a special mention for its ambience and food, genuine, delicious Tuscan food.
Top all this with fine weather and temperatures in the high 20s Celsius, and we had a
truly PERFECT holiday in Casa Arianna.

tour culturale ed enogastrnomico della toscana
Magnifico il posto totalmente immerso nella quiete e nella natura ma vicina ai luoghi più belli e suggestivi della toscana. Insieme alla mia famiglia non solo abbiamo visitato città d'arte ma fatto un vero percorso enogastronomico e il proprietario veramente una persona squisita che ci ha consigliato, deliziato con il suo vino e la sua cucina presso il suo agriturismo. Lo consiglio vivamente.

A gem in the middle of a field of sunflowers!
This was our third visit to Casa Arianna---and it won't be our last. It is set in the midst of lush vegetation--sunflowers, grapevines, fruit trees--the perfect getaway for friends and family.
Our most recent visit was a couple's vacation to Italy. My husband and I and our dearest friends had a lovely couple’s week at Casa Arianna and Francesca (the upstairs apartment.) The apartments and the surrounding buildings look like the set of a romantic movie set in the Tuscan region.
Casa Arianna is housed in a 500-year old building, complete with a well that was used for storing grain and bottles of oil. The kitchen is amply supplied and the perfect place to prepare a simple breakfast or a quick lunch. The queen bed in the master bedroom is comfortable, and the bathroom has the usual amenities, in addition to a washing machine and a drying rack. The second bedroom accommodates an additional two travelers and the futon in the living area could stretch the occupancy to five. A state-of-the-art television provides a great way to relax after a long day of sightseeing.
Situated as it is, Casa Arianna provides the perfect jumping off point for day trips to Siena Montalcino, Arrezzo, Florence, Volterra, Lucca, San Gimignano--and points beyond. Driving back in the evening, it is nice to know, you have a quiet, clean, comfortable place to rest before continuing your adventures.
But the best part of all this is the owner/manager, Filippo. He has become an integral part of every trip to Tuscany. He answers questions about things to do and places to see in the area--even to recommending local festivals! His family is so gracious as well, bringing keys, checking on patio furniture, etc. His father's wine will bring back memories when opened this fall.
Even though we have just returned from our wonderful trip, we are looking forward to the next time we visit Casa Arianna and the sunflowers!
