I have booked this villa for a week in July 2016 through a private villa advertising website under a different name, Villa Jamal!
Doesn't really matter as I have found the property in tripadvisor.
This is a beautiful colonial architecture that comprises of 3 bedrooms, one large reception and a good size kitchen. It can actually accommodate 8 people.
There is an outdoor sitting and a lunch area, which have been beautifully designed. Not to mention about the infinity pool, which is in a good size. The villa is surrounded by countless orange and olive trees.
In the same plot there are 3 other villas in different sizes managed by the same company.
The villa is located in a town called Castelvetrano, which we could not find attractive.
There were some negative points about our staying if may point out are;
- the gate to the main road which is operated by a key in the last 3 days stopped working and wasn't repaired. We had to use the next villa's gate. Thanks to the housekeeper for arranging this.
- the villa's wifi was down for 2 days. It was very inconvenient but later fixed.
- there was a strike going on by the rubbish collectors. I have never seen such a full of rubbish in such a nice popular holiday region.
Villa is close to the sea and the archaeological sites of Selinunte - just 20 minutes away. Palermo Punta Raisi airport is only an hour away.
Mazara del Vallo which is about 30 mins away is a beautiful town to visit.
Some of the places we visited in Mazara del Vallo:
- Duomo cathedral square
- Resti della Chiesa - The St. Ignatius Church, located in the Piazza Plebiscito next to the College with which it communicated through a passage near the altar, was the church of the Jesuits.
Zingaro Nature Reserve in Scopello is also another beautiful place to visit which is one hour 15 mins away. Great reserve with stunning sea views and bays.
And Scala dei Turchi, the White Turkish Steps; it is in a town called Realmonte, which is one hour 10 mins away and close to Agrigento which is another beautiful town with full of temples but unfortunately we did not have time to visit. My kids said that the Turkish Steps was the best sea experience ever!
I would recommend this villa because of its architecture and location. Sicily is such a big island with loads of beautiful towns and villas to explore, that’s for sure.
