Dit was onze eerste bestemming gedurende onze mini rondreis over Sicilië. Komend vanaf vliegveld Catania was er al het eerste telefooncontact met de gastvrouw. We kregen tips hoe de locatie te bereiken. Bij aankomst werden we warm welkom geheten, waarbij bleek dat ze voor ons een complete lunch hadden klaargezet! Nadat men ons enigszins wegwijs had gemaakt, werd afscheid genomen met de uitnodiging om in de loop van de komende dagen elkaar onder het genot van een drankje nog eens te ontmoeten bij een strandje bij Santa Teresa di Riva. Meestal komt daar in de praktijk toch niets van terecht, maar dit keer toch wel! Na wat gedronken te hebben, werden we uitgenodigd om met hen mee te gaan om het pittoreske bergdorpje Savoca (bekend vanwege de filmopnamen voor The Godfather, waarbij het dorpje Corleone heette) te bezoeken. Na afloop gezellig met hen bij een lokaal restaurant gegeten en de basis voor een vriendschappelijke relatie was gelegd! Het huis was heerlijk en van alle gemakken voorzien: veel potten, pannen, glazen etc., maak je in deze streken wel eens anders mee! Verder wasmachine, broodrooster, kortom (bijna) alles wat je thuis ook hebt. Wat ons in deze toch wel warme dagen vooral in positieve zin opviel was de behaaglijke binnentemperatuur: de aanwezige airco hebben we niet één keer in behoeven te schakelen! Fruitbomen alom rondom het huis, hoewel veel ervan nog niet (geheel) rijp was. Nog wel één waarschuwing: op de voorlaatste dag werden we verrast door een flinke adder die de buitentrap opkwam... Al met al een heerlijke plek om een week te bivakkeren!

The accommodations met our needs of three bedrooms and three private baths. The place was a bit shabby and basic with stained living room furniture and mismatched furnishings. But it offered a wonderful porch for dining and gathering for drinks. The grounds were nice and we had fresh plums and cherry tomatoes from the garden. When we arrived we were told there would be a 12.5€ per person linen charge which was unexpected and seemed quite high for a three night stay. The amenities were basic, bring your own bath amenities, paper towels, garbage bags and possibly TP. The location of being close to Mount Etna and a 30-60 minutes from the beach was nice. Not much to do in Linguaglossa but we had fun exploring. There is a grocery store five minutes away which was great to pick up items including wine. Note that most everything is closed on Sunday.

nous avons passé 3 nuits fin septembre dans cette grande maison avec 3 chambres et salles de bains correspondantes et bien sur tout le confort ! Très bien accueilli par le fils de la maison qui parlait français ! La maison est située peu avant le cimetière a l'entrée de la ville en venant de la mer , grand jardin avec vue sur l'Etna !

We had a wonderful experience at La Casina di Rosa. Our group of 5 used all 3 of the bedrooms and each had it's own bathroom. There was a full kitchen for cooking and several pizzerias and out of the way restaurants in the town of Linguaglossa. Fruit and vegetables plants on the property were great additions to breakfast in the morning or dinner in the evening. Mt Etna touring was no more than 20 minutes from town. I would not suggest staying at La Casina di Rosa if you do not have your own vehicle but there is a bus stop at the end of the driveway so it is not impossible to get around. We only saw the owner at check in and check out. They do not live on the property. The house was very clean and the washer worked very well for doing our laundry.

We waren met twee gezinnen met tieners.Ondanks dat er geen zwembad was beviel dit huis geweldig. Gastvrij ontvangen door Anna Maria. Het huis is af, goede bedden, mei airco in slaapkamers, goede keuken, enorm grote tuin en mooi uitzicht op de Etna. De Conad dichtbij is ook een pré. Perfecte ligging voor uitstapjes, zoals de Etna, Taormina, Savoca(Godfather), de Alcantarakloof, kerk van San Pietro e Paulo! Kortom, een aanrader!

We knew we had made a good choice when, on arrival, our hosts greeted us with antepasta for lunch. We had arrived after a long and tiring journey and the kind welcome was just what we needed. There were five of us travelling, me, my wife and three children, age 16 upwards. Each bedroom is en suite. The air conditioning was wonderful as Sicily is very hot in July and August. The kitchen and living areas are more than adequate for holiday needs. Linguaglossa provides supermarkets and restaurants at very reasonable prices. It is a quiet town which has the main east coast autostrada nearby. We wanted to explore as much of Sicily as we could. We covered a lot of ground from Tindari on the north coast (on the recommendation of out host) to Siracusa in the south east to the Valley of the Temples in the south west (two and a half hours each way by car.) Beware of the Circumetnea railway. It is chaotic especially as the line is being upgraded but without adequate explanation of what is happening. For instance that there is a bus shuttle service from Adrana as there is a break in the line here for the time being. There is a shiny new station but no trains! Nobody told us. Sicily has perhaps a unique heritage with contributions from so many cultures. The history, natural history and historic sites are enthralling. And Etna watches over it all. Amo la Sicilia.

La casina di Rosa in Linguaglossa is a very nice villa, close to to highway Messina-Catania (8 min) and in between Taormina (20 min) and Catania (45 min). Lot's of space in- and ouside the villa with a very nice garden full of trees and a wonderfull view at the Etna. Necessary equipment is available, including dishwasher, internet and satTV. The owners are very friendly and helpfull. They even picked us up at the exit of the highway. Thanks, we had a wonderfull week! Peter.

Nous avons trouvé dans ce logement ce que nous cherchions. Une maison où nous étions seuls avec une vue superbe sur l'Etna. Jardin magnifique. La cheminée a été appréciée en cette semaine d'avril. Bon endroit pour rayonner et faire des visites.

... sulle falde dell'Etna, affascinante nella sua maestosa potenza; immersa nel verde, ad un passo dal centro di Linguaglossa, a pochi minuti di auto dal mare, dalle gole dell'alcantara, da Taormina. Curatissimi sia la casa che il grandissimo giardino, che l'orto, dalla passione dei simpaticissimi proprietari: se li conosci, li ami. Bellissima vacanza.

We enjoyed our stay at La Casina di Rosa for a weekend. The place is strategically located between the sea and the mount Etna. After a day spent visiting beautiful cities such as Taormina and the nearby seaside, or after an excursion to the volcano or to the Gole dell’Alcantara, La Casina di Rosa was the perfect place to relax and to enjoy a peaceful atmosphere. It was pleasant to take a walk through the nice grove of different fruit trees. The place offers plenty of space, both outdoor and indoor, and the house has all comforts such as described. Each room, well furnished, has a private bathroom and everything is very clean. There is a lovely terrace where it is possible to eat outside, enjoying the Sicilian weather and landscape. In the spacious kitchen-leaving room there is also a fireplace: perfect to create a cozy atmosphere during winter time. Finally, the owner is such a great person: very friendly and available for anything you may need.
