From the moment we saw the door which leads to this wonderfully warm, cosy little house, we fell in love. Small but perfectly formed, everything about this delightful bolthole in the most beautiful village in France is a treat. Communication from owner Tatiana is superb and although we didn't meet her, Cynthia who greeted us was a lovely and helpful host. The house itself is ridiculously cute - a staircase leads from the patio garden shared with another house straight into the kitchen and front room, both of which are sweetly decorated and full of charm. Another staircase (one you might not want to attempt after too much wine!) leads to the bedroom/bathroom, two rooms in one. Upstairs is mainly white and the window looks out on one of Lourmarin's twisting side roads. It is remarkably quiet, other than the gentle tolling of a bell on the hour. Because the house is so lovely - quirky, incredibly central, relaxing and inviting - we spent more time there than we'd expected to. I imagine in winter it would be wonderful to light the wood burner in the front room and read on the sofa (with hot chocolate and a selection of pastries from the bakery a stone's throw away - oh how we miss it now we're home!). Lourmarin and the surrounding area are, in a word, magical. And this little house is enchanting. We can't recommend it enough.

Einfach nur begeisternd. Ein kleines, kuscheliges, urgemütliches Domizil über zwei Etagen. Ein- und hergerichtet mit ganz viel Herz, Stil (vielleicht nicht der Geschmack von jedem aber unserer auf jeden Fall!), Sorgfalt und einer sehr spürbaren, großen Liebe für Details. Genau so warm und herzlich wie Tatjana und Nanou, nicht "nur" Vermieterinnen sind sondern sehr sehr gute Gastgeberinnen. Die Ausstattung (auch mit Küchenutensilien) ist komplett und setzt den sehr fröhlich-französischen Stil des ganzen Hauses fort, ohne dabei in die Nähe von "Kitsch" zu geraten. Durch die zentrale Lage ist man innerhalb von fünf geschlenderten Minuten an jedem Punkt von Lourmarin. Bankomat? 80 Meter. Bäcker? 120 Meter. Lebensmittel? 250 Meter. Friseur? 30 Meter. Kunstgalerien? ab 15 Meter - und für praktisch jeden Stil ist etwas zu finden. An der Kreuzung "Rue Henri de Savornin"/"Rue du Temple" (130 Meter - Fußgängerzone!) ist reichlich Gelegenheit, gemütlich in der Sonne (oder wahlweise im Schatten) zu sitzen und ein Glas Rosé bei Gaby zu schlürfen oder einen Pastis oder auch einfach nur ein Perrier gegen den Durst. Auch speisen läßt sich hier vorzüglich und zu sehr angemessenen Preisen, z.B. im "L'Insolite" oder 300 Meter weiter im "La Luche a Beurre" (eine Vorbestellung empfiehlt sich aber dringend). Und anschließend ganz gemütlich die paar Meter zurück nach Hause... Eines muß jedoch erwähnt werden - das hat nichts mit L'Oustaloun zu tun, aber man muß sich darüber im Klaren sein: Lourmarin ist ein altes, organisch über die Zeit gewachsenes Städtchen mit entsprechender Infrastruktur. Wie weit die Häuser auseinander stehen, ist im Ortskern zu einer Zeit bestimmt wurden, als "Schwerlastverkehr" die Bezeichnung für ein Pferdefuhrwerk war. Entsprechend gilt: die Straßen im Ortskern können nur in Ausnahmefällen und dann auch nur von kleinen Autos befahren werden. Und selbst die kommen nicht im Gegenverkehr aneinander vorbei. Parkplätze innerhalb des alten Ortskerns gibt es - mit Ausnahme von Innenhöfen - einfach nicht. Rund um den kleinen Bereich "Zentral-Lourmarin" gibt es aber Parkplätze, wo sich Einheimische und Touristen eben einigen müssen, wer wo wie parkt. Um das Gepäck vom Auto ins Apartment zu transportieren, kann man (abends oder früh morgens) zwar bis vor das Hoftor fahren - aber selbst mit einem Peugeot 306 Cabrio ist das schon SEHR eng. Für SUVs und große Kombis oder Limousinen gilt: wir müssen leider draußen bleiben! Die Schönheit eines Ortskerns ohne Bürgerkäfige entschädigt aber allemal für dieses wirklich kleine Ungemach. Ob wir wieder kommen möchten? Auf jeden Fall - wenn in L'Oustaloun nach dieser Bewertung überhaupt noch ein Platz zu bekommen ist! --- Utterly inspiring. A snug, cuddly and very very homely residence, spanning two stories. Fitted and arranged with a huge amount of heart, style (maybe not everybody's but definitely ours!), care and a very perceptible, very big care for detail. Exactly as warm and heartfelt as Tatjana and Nanou are, who can not be described as "just" landladies but rather as very very caring hosts. The provisions (including kitchen accessories) are complete and continue the very cheerfully-french style of the entire house - without coming even close to being "kitsch". Owing to the central position one can reach every point of Lourmarin within five minutes of relaxed ambling. ATM? 80 meters. Bakery? 120 meters. Food store? 250 meters. Hairdresser? 30 meters. Art galleries? from 15 meters on - and meeting practically every style. At the crossing "Rue Henri de Savornin"/"Rue du Temple" (130 meters - pedestrian zone!) you have ample opportunity so enjoy sitting in the sun (or in the shades, if you like) and sampling a glass of Rosé at the Café Gaby or having a Pastis or just a Perrier to quench the thirst. Dining is very good here and really priceworthy, for example at "L'Insolite" or 3300 meters further on at "La Luche a Beurre" (advance booking highly recommended!). And after dinner a nice, short, lazy stroll back home... One thing has to be said though. It has nothing at all to do with L'Oustaloun but you have to be aware of this: Lourmarin is an old, organically and over a long period grown village with an infrastructure according to this fact. How far the houses are apart has - for the central village - been decided at a time when the definition of "HGV" was "horse cart". According to this, cars can travel the roads in central Lourmarin only as an exception and even that is possible only for small cars. And not even small cars can pass each other in oncoming traffic. Parking areas in the village centre do not exist - with the exception of a few patios. However, at the perimeter of central Lourmarin there are parking opportunities, where the locals and the tourists have to agree upon who parks his car where, how and when. To bring the luggage from the car to the apartment and vice versa, you can drive right up to the house entrance (early in the morning or late in the evening) - but even driving a Peugeot 306 convertible this is VERY tight work. If you travel in a SUV or big estate or a big sedan: these will have to stay outside of the village proper. On the other hand, the beauty of a village center without cagers outweighs this slight adversity by a huge margin. If we want to return there? Most definitely so - provided the L'Oustaloun isn't completely overbooked after this review!

Ho trascorso, insieme alla mia famiglia, 4 giorni meravigliosi . La località è molto bella e siamo stati divinamente. Abbiamo soggiornato in uno splendido appartamento (con camino) molto confortevole, pulito e tranquillo. Le proprietarie,che parlano perfettamente l'italiano, sono state gentilissime premurose e sempre disponibili. Sicuramente torneremo quest'estate.

My wife and I intended spending eight days in this bijou rental which has been tastefully furnished and decorated by the owner who clearly took trouble to coordinate everything in colour and style. The seating in the living room was comfortable, with lots of local information on display, as well as a selection of books and a CD music system. One end of the room housed a kitchenette, with simple cooking facilities, fridge, kettle, toaster etc. The bedroom is accessed via a narrow old spiral staircase which, though charming, would prove difficult for anybody with limited mobility. Once upstairs, there is a comfortable double bed, chest of drawers, satellite TV at one end, and behind a partial screen at the other end a full-sized bath, washbasin and WC. The owner, Tatiana was most helpful and friendly, ready with local advice and concerned that we should have everything that we needed. Lourmarin is a compact small village with plenty of cafes, restaurants and small craft shops and galleries to explore. L'Ostaloun is right in the centre. The surrounding area is beautiful. A family emergency caused us to curtail our holiday after only three days, much to our regret. We very much hope to return at a happier time.

eine einzigartige, sehr individuelle Unterkunft, typisch provenzale, etwas für Liebhaber des Besonderen. In einer ruhigen Seitengasse und doch mitten im Leben. Um die Ecke: Bäcker, Bistro, Restaurant, Boutiquen usw. Schönes Dorf, tolle Umgebung, Landschaft, Ausflugsziele. Sehr freundliche Gastgeberin, vielsprachig und unkompliziert. In der Hauptsaison würde ich den Ort meiden, auch in der Nebensaison fühlten wir uns nicht einsam.

We've just spent three weeks at L'Oustaloun -- our second stay hosted by Tatiana. Lourmarin is an ideal home base for touring around the area, & we couldn't be happier with our accommodations. The apartment itself is well-equipped, comfortable, & (as a bonus) charmingly decorated. Tatiana (with the help of Nanou) is a font of information & advice. We wouldn't hesitate for a moment to recommend a stay in either L'Oustaloun or its sister apartment, La Bonbonniere.

We stayed at L'Oustaloun for a week during our honeymoon and couldn't have asked for a lovelier place for two to stay. The two open-plan rooms (bedroom and bathroom upstairs, kitchen and lounge downstairs) were warm, cosy and welcoming, and perfect for two. The whole place was nestled out of the way through an archway from the street, and the owner's shop was right nearby for browsing lovely little knick-knacks. Lourmarin is a beautiful place, and our hostess was so helpful – recommending places for us to go, helping us practise our French, booking a special table at a local restaurant for us... We had a lovely time and we'd love to come back!

We had a wonderful time in Lourmarin! And L'Oustaloun was the perfect apartment- comfortable, quite, great location and beautiful Provence-inspired decor. Tatania, the host, is a font of information about Lourmarin and the Provence area in general. This is definitely a place to return to- as often as possible!
