Comfortable cozy cottage right on the beach!
We really enjoyed our three night stay at the Buena Vista cottage and would highly recommend the cottage for anyone looking for a SC option in Calibishie. It's clean and comfortable and has everything you need. It's right on the beach and we enjoyed sleeping with the windows open and hearing the waves break on the outer reef.. We loved the golden beach in front where you could swiim, and enjoyed walking into town for dinner. Webster and Frida are great hosts, very welcoming people and they were a great introduction to Dominica for us as this was our first stop on our tour around the island. They were always available to help out and were very accommodating. We hope to return and would definitely stay here again! Thanks Frida and Webster!

Appartement vue sur mer.
Cet hébergement est situé sur la cote atlantique avec une vue splendide. Par temps clair, nous pouvons voir les Saintes et Marie Galante. L'accueil de Webster et Freda fut chaleureux. Très adapté pour un couple avec un enfant. Nous avons eu pas mal de pluie durant notre séjour ce qui a forcé la compagnie des eaux a couper la distribution. Freda, nous a montrer un point d'eau pour se doucher et faire la vaisselle au rez de chaussé cela n'a duré qu'une journée. Village très jolie avec toutes les commodités.

Perfect location, perfect cottage
The only thing better than the view and location were our hosts, Webster and Freda. Nothing was overlooked in that cottage. Calibishie provided us with the laid back atmosphere we were seeking. When we requested some guide services as we did not rent a car, our hosts provided that as well. We saw and learned so much about Dominica that we would not have known otherwise and felt that it enhanced our time there immensely. The restaurants provided great food and the breadman makes a stop each evening right near the cottage with great fresh bread and sweet buns making breakfast an event each day. The beaches within walking distance of the cottage from Pointe Baptiste and Red Rocks to the area right outside our cottage kept us engaged from the first moment to the last of our stay. Our only regret was leaving.

Nice clean beach house in a sleepy village
Very clean, well appointed beach house. Webster and Freda could not have been more considerate hosts. They even loaned us, without asking, a local mobile phone. When we had difficulty recharging it they bought a new one! Buena Vista is indeed situated right on the beach. Few people visit Calibishie beach so it is like having your personal beach. Especially since the neighbor Olivia rakes it each morning. Pelicans and Frigate birds are common and an Osprey visits the bay most days. The village of Calibishie is a quiet spot, consisting mainly of a Main Street. There is one bank, one ATM, three grocery stores and some rum shops. And two or three restaurants. You can walk to all these in five or ten minutes. Tiny barbecues open up in the evenings grilling chicken or sweetcorn. Then they may be closed for a few days, all very informal. Generally in Dominica people are very friendly

Tolles Strandhaus mit fantastischem Blick
Meine Frau und ich haben 2 Wochen auf Dominica verbracht. Eine Woche waren wir zu Gast im Buena Vista Beach Cottage, wobei der Name "Beach Cottage" im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes zutrifft. Das Haus steht direkt auf dem Strand! Das Haus befindet sich am Ortsrand von Calibishie. Restaurants und Supermärkte sind zu Fuss gut zu erreichen. Vom Balkon hat man einen fantastischen Blick über das Meer auf die Inseln Marie Galante und Guadeloupe. Die hier veröffentlichen Fotos zeigen exakt, wie das Haus und die Umgebung aussieht. Die Küche ist gut ausgestattet, so dass man dort auch selbst eine Mahlzeit zubereiten kann. Bettwäsche und Handtücher werden gestellt. Im Untergeschoss des Hauses befindet sich eine Waschmaschine, die man in Absprache mit dem Eigentümer auch nutzen kann. Die Wohnung verfügt über eine 220V Stromversorgung, Adapter für diverse unterschiedliche Stecker sind vorhanden. Die Eigentümer - Webster und Freda - sind wunderbare Gastgeber; sehr herzlich und hilfsbereit. Als wir die Kaffeemaschine nicht fanden und uns bei Webster nach dieser erkundigten, brachte er am gleichen Tag eine vorbei. Auch bei einer Panne mit unserem Mietwagen war er sofort zu Stelle und unterstützte uns.

top notch
brings the reality of 'on the beach', cant get much closer. well positioned villa on the edge of town, quiet with your own private beach with only 5 mins to the bars & shops. superb villa with great owners.

My husband and I have stayed twice at Buena Vista. I forgot to write a review after the first time, probably because I subconsciously don't want anyone else to know about this little gem of a place. Everything about it is perfect for one or two people: 1. The location. Buena Vista is located on the edge of Calibishie, within walking distance from restaurants and grocery stores, yet not in the center of village activity. The golden sand beach right outside is one of the nicest on the island, and very swimmable. 2. The cottage itself. It's a lovingly restored older building, with a balcony overlooking the ocean, an open stone shower, and an amazingly well-equipped kitchen. Attention to detail is evident everywhere: deck chairs on the beach, an outside faucet for rinsing sand off one's feet, even a selection of spices for cooking. Though the living space itself is not large, it's efficiently arranged and feels luxurious. 3. Webster and Freda These two are wonderful hosts, reliable, accessible, well-informed, friendly, helpful, yet never intrusive or overbearing. We hate to leave this place and will be back for a third visit as soon as we can.

The beach cottage was great.
We spent 4 nights at Buena Vista Beach Cottage. Webster and Frida were very friendly and very helpful. We appreciated their advice. Everything at the cottage was spotless. It was nicely furnished and very roomy for a studio. We appreciated the well equipped kitchen since we cooked many of our meals. The view from the interior, from the balcony and from down on the beach was great. We enjoyed seeing the distinctive rocks off to our left , the view of the ocean and the frigate birds, pelicans, osprey, etc. fishing off 'our' reef. We also enjoyed seeing the bananaquits and Lesser Antilles bullfinches in the 'our' coconut and banana trees. We also liked the distant views of Guadaloupe and Marie-Galante islands - especially at night when their lights were on. Walking through the village of Calibishie Cove was pleasant. Everyone was very friendly, as they were all over Dominica. We liked the pride in country expressed by all of the people of Dominica that we met. Batibou Beach, which Frida recommended, and which we chose to walk down to, was a beautiful, sandy, palm lined treasure.

Lulled to Sleep by Surf
Any closer to the ocean and we would have been getting wet. Through the double doors the view and the sound of the ocean are ever present, and a the offshore breeze keeps the temperature comfortable and the insects to a minimum. This studio apartment provides a short walk to the best meal we had on the island, at Rainbow Restaurant, and the market. In town we never used our vehicle, but simply made sure we had the supplies to watch the sunrise with fresh fruit and coffee and the sky darken with rum punch. This relaxing spot made the perfect start for a week long stay on the island, as each day our pace slowed and relaxation crept in. With warm water, a functional kitchen, a few cold beers in the fridge, and wi-fi, the space was exactly as advertised. Webster greeted with a warmth matched by only by the climate, and his wife Freda was quick to share a laugh while dispensing local wisdom.

Better than we could have imagined
I can't imagine a better place to stay in Dominica. The cottage is perfect for two and in the perfect location, right on the edge of the village of Calibishie. It's nestled right on it's own beach on the Atlantic side of the island and thanks to an offshore reef the water is very swimmable. The water is warm, clean and calm. The Cottage is basically a studio apartment with a fully stocked kitchen, a beautiful rain shower and double doors that open to a deck with the most breathtaking view you will ever get at this price anywhere in the world! The front of the house offers a view of a stunning jungle cliff that shades the house most of the day. There's no AC but fortunately there's no need for it. The shade, breeze off the ocean and the fan over the bed keep the place a very comfortable temperature all day and night. I actually found myself turning down the fan at night because it got a little chilly! We never once closed the doors to the deck though, the sound of the waves lapping against the shore lulled us to sleep every night. There's cable TV (for all you crazy people who want to watch TV while in paradise) and WiFi that is actually very fast and reliable. The location right on the edge of town is great. Calibishie is a friendly little village and all the shops, snackettes, restaurants and bars are just a short stroll away but you won't be smack dab in the middle of the action ensuring a quiet, restful place to retreat to anytime you want. In the other direction up the road is the most beautiful jungle with wonderful views and some incredible beaches. The owners, Webster and Freda are great as well. They are a really friendly couple who are always available with any questions you may have and to make arrangements for things like tours or car rentals. They provide a local cell phone so you can contact them whenever you need to. We were always glad to see them so we could share our adventures with them and ask for advice on what to do next. Our trip to Dominica is one of the best we've ever taken and we can't thank Webster and Freda enough for being such wonderful hosts! The Buena Vista exceeded our expectations in every way. Highly recommended!
