This is an absolutely lovely place to stay. We rented the property for the last week in June 2016, and enjoyed it immensely. It is ‘front line’, right on the beach, and the photos on Trip advisor are accurate, but do not fully do it justice.
Juan, the owner, is very good to deal with. He replies promptly, mostly in Spanish, so you may need to use an online translator, and he met us on our arrival, along with his family. His son speaks English, so if that is your native tongue, he can answer any questions that you may have.
The beach (miles of it !!) is clean, well kept, has lifeguards, and was not busy at the front of the property, however further along in both directions, it was a little more populated due to the proximity to some main accesses onto the beach, but still not what you would say busy. There are no lines and lines of sunbeds, beach bars, paddle boats, jet skis etc, so if that is what you want, then head elsewhere.
The house is well equipped, and very clean. The balcony overlooks the beach, gets a little sun in the morning, but provides a respite, if required, in the afternoon, as the sun moves round. This didn’t bother us, as if you want the sun all day, it is literally 3 metres to the beach. Whilst we were there, there was a nice cool breeze blowing in off the sea, which was a godsend for us peely wally Scots.
The kitchen is functional, bed is comfy, shower is powerful, with plenty of hot water.
There are 3 or 4 restaurants within walking distance, but I would recommend a car to explore elsewhere. Denia town is an easy 10 minute drive and provides a range of eateries and other activities. You’ll be glad to return to the peacefulness of Les Deveses though.
The area is popular with holidaying Spanish and Germans, and the local restaurants reflect this in their menus, although we were amply catered for. Learn a bit of Spanish before you go, as English is not widely spoken, however it is in Denia town.
Locally, I would recommend Restaurant La Vida (German), Restaurant Al Mar (Spanish, Mediterranean), and Los Banos Sunshine Bar, on the beach, which serves everything from breakfast, to great quality fillet steaks. Further afield, Republic, at Denia Marina, is a very trendy place to eat (!!), the food was excellent, and good ‘people watching’ too. The Temple in Benidoleig, a little village 15 minutes by car from the property, a real find, is excellent either for a tapas lunch or evening meal. It is top quality food at very reasonable prices.
I would recommend this lovely wee house and its stress releasing environment to anyone. We will certainly be back.
