My partner and I stayed for 10 days in August and we cannot recommend this property enough! It's located very close to Rome - a 45 minute drive from Fiumicino airport or an hours' train journey to Bracciano. The property is gated, so very safe, but the area seems very nice in general. The flat is large and spacious and has everything you need - a very well kitted-out kitchen and bathroom, and a great living area. There's Sky TV (so English channels!) and super fast broadband. Outside is even nicer - the pool area is exceptional - a beautiful clean pool and plenty of sun loungers, plus a view of the entire lake and Bracciano Castle. The owners Giachino and Ingrid were so welcoming and generous - we very much enjoyed staying with them. Bracciano is a lovely town to explore - particularly at night, with an abundance of quality and good value restaurants and bars. Trevignano and Anguillara (nearby towns) are worth visiting too. There are regular trains to Rome for a day trip and there is a great beach San Celso only 30 minutes drive away. We loved it and would come back again! Sigrid & Bryan

Bracciano is a fantastic area for enjoying the countryside and days out in Rome. Ingrid and Gio were the perfect hosts providing us with lots of information from day one, making our stay even more enjoyable. The flat is situated on the lower ground floor of the main house which, is easy to access and perfect for a couple or small family. There is a patio/sitting area outside the flat from which you can access the pool via a few steps. The pool is immaculately maintained by Gio and therefore no stinging eyes as it's so clean. The gardens surrounding the pool are beautiful and the view down towards the lake is lovely. Having this relaxing area was perfect after the hustle and bustle of Rome. There are lots of places of interest to visit in the area and the small town of Bracciano has many very good places to eat, at a reasonable cost. Ingrid and Gio kindly provided a comprehensive list of restaurants and places to visit which made life beautifully simple. If you don't feel like eating out the flat has everything you need to prepare a meal and there many supermarkets etc in Bracciano town. There are regular trains to Rome which we loved but please note that you do need a car.

Spent a week here in late September, it was still warm and sunny. The accommodation was ideal for my wife and i, well equipped and clean, including good wifi signal/tv package, and a lovely swimming pool with a great view of the lake. The owners of the villa, Ingrid & Gioacchino were very welcoming and helpful. We wanted to stay somewhere outside the city but close enough for a day trip or two. This area is ideal as there is a direct rail route into Rome (approx 50-70 mins), a 'brig' ticket can be purchased at the station for 8 euros and can be used all day within Rome's public transport system. However, it is advisable to hire a car if you intend to explore the local area…. Bracciano has that typical look of a quaint italian town, plenty of places to eat and drink, complete with ancient castle. The area of lake Bracciano also hosts the postcard-esque village of Anguillara (well worth a visit) and Trevignano Romano, which has plenty of lakeside eateries and small market stalls. Amongst the other local towns is Cerveteri, which will interest those who like visiting historical sites, they have an extensive Etruscan Necropolis. Highly recommended.

I arrived at San Celso along with my husband and 9 year old son after spending 2 days in Rome. Bracciano and the San Celso holiday home provided us with the opportunity we needed to relax after the crowds of the city. The accommodation was nothing short of perfect. It was spacious, comfy and provided everything we needed. The pool was great with stunning views over the lake. We had access to the pool at most times providing we were respectful. Gioacchino & Ingrid, the owners of the villa, were extremely kind to us. We got a bit lost on the way to the villa from the station on the first day (our fault entirely, we thought we would walk which I wouldn't recommend!) and Gioacchino came to rescue us! They drove us to the large supermarket so we could stock up on groceries and gave us some salad from the vegetable patch. They are a wonderful couple who are always on hand if you need them but also give you space, we very much enjoyed a glass of wine and a chat with them on a couple of occasions. We did not take a car as we like to walk but a car is probably recommended for most. We walked to the lake and into town on a few occasions but for much of the time we were relaxing by the pool. There is a smaller supermarket just 5 minutes walk away for everyday needs In terms of the area the town of Bracciano is extremely pleasant with a great selection of bars and restaurants. The square by the castle was a favourite of ours. The lake was also lovely, very warm to swim in and again had a good selection of places to eat. There are sunbeds and parasols available to hire on the beach but when we stayed San Celso had a membership meaning we had complimentary hire of these. There is a ferry connecting Bracciano with the other towns on the lake, this made for a really nice trip one day.

Our first advisory is to book 3 weeks instead of one as this is not enough to explore the surrounding villages around the lake and numerous historical locations within an hour drive. The fantastic city of Rome itself, closeby with an easy train connection from bracciano, would already require a one week visit. The spacious, well equipped appartment is beautiful and relaxing at the private swimming pool in the lovely garden with a beautiful view of the lake and distant hills makes You not want to get up and move at all anymore. Host and hostess are ever so friendly with lots of great tips of places to visit, travels to undertake and excellent restaurants in various price categories to try out. For us the best vacation residence we've had for decades and ofcourse Italy for vacation is THE PLACE TO BE.

And, as we have been travelling on this kind of formulas for the past 10 years, no need to say : the place is great. If you want to visit Roma, but in the same time you dont want to sleep in the city, you will be delighted to enjoy the peacefullness, the view, the garden and the lake nearby. I confirm all what is said in the other reviews: all shops and facilities easy to reach. Also the pitoresque medieval towns by the lake will offer you a relaxing time, if ever you get tired of the big city of Roma. Fully equiped, greatly kept in good conditions, spotless state when you arrive. Hosts are the most friendly and kind. As for the apartement: just the right size for a couple or family with two kids. No neighbours to the sides, no "vis-à-vis". Get your holidays there, and you will realy know what "Dolce Vita" means.

My husband and I and our teenage daughter all enjoyed our week's stay after spending several days in Rome. It was the perfect place to relax and soak up the sun. We could use the pool whenever we wanted. The owners of this property had prepared the appartment very well to make us feel very welcome, and were most kind and helpful. We had not taken a car with us and so were pleased that there was a small supermarket nearby (5 minutes easy walk) for all self catering supplies. There is a bus service, but at the time of our stay the timetable had just been changed so the service was a bit unpredictable. We walked to Bracciano (about 25 minutes) and were able to get a bus to the Lake for a very enjoyable trip around, stopping off at other villages. Trains to Rome are very frequent and fares are very cheap.
