This beautiful, authentic trullo, recently refurbished and extended to provide three double bedrooms, is set in a wonderful part of the Puglian countryside, just five minutes drive (or about a half hour walk) from the centre of the stunning UNESCO world heritage site of Alberobello.
The trullo is well appointed, with a practical kitchen, beautiful gardens, a large patio area with covered table, pizza oven and outside barbecue grill. There are two bathrooms, a washing machine, three double bedrooms (one is a family room with an additional bed). One slight compromise to the layout here is that the third bedroom can only be reached by passing through the second - fine for families, but don't expect a great deal of privacy if travelling with friends. Facilities are very good and the trullo is very clean and well presented. Nunzia (the owner) has thought of everything you might need, from mosquito repelling candles to hairdryers etc - every effort is made to make your stay a comfortable one.
The swimming pool is small but adequate for cooling down - not large enough for serious swimming. The best thing about this beautiful villa is its location - central to the region, in 10 days we visited Alberobello, Lecce, Monopoli, Matera, Taranto, Locorotondo, Polignano a Mare, Bari, Castellana Grotte and Martina Franca - none of these were more than 80 minutes drive from the trullo.
By contacting Nunzia directly in Italian and not using a third party website, we were able to negotiate a more favourable rate paying by bank transfer - worth considering if you are on a budget. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to a friend, and I would certainly book it again if I return to Puglia.
