This is our fifth visit to this charming cottage. We love it here as you can tell from the fact we’ve visited so many times! It has everything you should need for a lovely relaxing holiday. Quiet countryside surrounds this picturesque village. Comfortable bed, big sofa and lovely shower. Log burner for winter months adds to the coziness. Plenty of toys, books and games for kids. My little boy loved the toy box! The owner is always very helpful and responds to your needs if you have any.
Great distance from Cornish and Devon coasts and towns! Lovely restaurants on and around the area. Good shop, cafe and chip shop within walking distance.
Hate the bad reviews on here-some of it is nonsense!
Love that it’s an old cottage with some beautiful characteristics.
We will be returning for definite!

A lovely cottage - but!
We enjoyed our stay at Larksworthy. The weather was glorious and a beautiful area with lots to explore.
The kitchen was well equipped and newly fitted. But we found the bathroom a challenge. It is sited at the far end of the ground floor through the lounge, dining room and kitchen with different floor levels to negotiate. Not easy if you needed to visit it in the night from the bedroom which is upstairs. The shower is set over the bath which is high and needs care getting in and out as nothing to hold onto. A slip mat is also needed in the bath.
We feel that the position of the bathroom lets down what is a lovely cottage, and needs explaining on the website.So unfortunately we will not be returning.

I'm so pleased that you enjoyed your recent stay at the cottage and that you found it to be well-equipped as this is something which we have tried hard to ensure for our guests.
I'm sorry that you had problems with the bathroom's location, but, as the cottage is 400 years old and listed, the bathroom has to be in the extension to the property. However, I can assure you that the bath is just of normal height and there is a slip mat in the cupboard outside the bathroom (it is listed on the itinerary in the folder on the dining table); there is also a window sill and a handle on the shower screen which could provide hand holds when entering or exiting the shower; I do appreciate though that any shower over a bath is not as convenient as a walk-in shower unit.

Droom Cottage
Het is een allerschattigste cottage, met een mooi tuintje en uitzicht op een weiland met schaapjes. De cottage is heel ruim van binnen, met alle voorzieningen die je in een modern huis verwacht. Erg fijne douche, lekker warm en krachtig. De cottage is niet gehorig en geeft een geborgen gevoel. De bedden slapen erg goed. In het halletje is een kast met folders wat er te doen is in de omgeving (ga vooral naar The Big Sheep bij Bideford, uurtje rijden). Voor de wandelaars zijn er gedetailleerde landkaarten. Ook zijn er boeken, puzzels, DVD's en CD's voor kinderen en volwassenen. De cottage was netjes en schoon bij aankomst, zoals je graag wilt.
De ligging is aan een heel rustig weggetje net buiten North Tawton. Het centrum is met 10 minuten lopend bereikbaar. Bij Kirsty kun je authentiek en heel goed eten. De Spar is alle dagen open tot laat.

Gorgeous, Charming cottage
Clean, comfortable and cosy with the woodburner. We loved the place.
North Tawton has plenty of good food outlets - Graylings fish'n'chips are outstanding.
There are lots of places to visit within a reasonable driving distance. Check out "Devon's most unusual pub" - The Highwayman Inn at Sourton just south of Okehampton - it's magical!
Larksworthy Cottage is beautiful. Highly recommended.

Ok, but ...
The cottage is nice but I would think twice in bringing young children. I accept the choice of location is our fault but there isn't much to do for little ones nearby so we would have been better being closer to the coast. However, really lovely and quiet and set in a pleasant village.
The decor is adequate but the overall cleanliness in some areas e.g. High chair leaves a lot to be desired. The property benefits from a bit of clever photography. It is a cottage after all so expect small and you won't be surprised.
Extremely disappointed that the owners decided they couldn't come to the cottage to replace the 5 bulbs which had blown. This really affected our enjoyment of the property. The cottage also smells of damp. This may be due to it's age or something more sinister but either way, it smells.
Not great for a tall person but again, I wholly accept responsibility for our choice!

I'm sorry you weren't more satisfied with your stay at Larksworthy Cottage and have acknowledged your complaints; our cottage management team is usually very efficient at ensuring that everything is working and clean.
We are rather disappointed that the decor is described as only being "adequate" as we have had the downstairs completely redecorated in the last four months. Also, we had it checked for damp and it definitely isn't so, as you suggest, the smell must just be its 400 years of history.
Although you felt that the cottage was small, I can assure you that, having stayed in many holiday cottages before we bought Larksworthy, it is actually spacious by comparison with most two bedroom cottages, especially the older ones, and I believe the photographs to be an accurate representation of its size.

Beautiful cottage.
Had a fabulous week at larksworthy cottage and did not want to leave such a quaint cottage in a brilliant location close to the village which has everything you will need cottage is very well equipped snug and cozy. Had lunch at Kirsty's in village please go it was lovely freshly made food 10/10. Also went to the duke of York in iddesliegh brilliant Sunday roast. Only issue but nothing bad is maybe bit better pillows as quite skinny and uncomfortable for your neck but we will be returning as feel in love with this cottage and village.
