South Queensferry is an historic town, with cobbled streets and terraced pavements winding through shops, restaurants and its own museum. The town has a number of events and festivals, including the 'Looney Dook' on New Years Day- a quick dip in the freezing Forth estuary for any brave souls; and the Ferry Fair at the beginning of June which has over 40 events including music, dance, sports, arts and exhibitions. This event dates back to 1687 when permission to hold the event was originally granted by King Charles I.
