Fabulous! Trust the photos!
Fabulous location right next to the sea with mountains as the backdrop - on the edge of lovely Sfnari village. 3 welcoming restaurants within walking distance plus cafes in the village which sell basics if you're happy to eat like the locals. The villa itself is unique, tastefully modernised but still with the ambience of days gone by (there is a dishwasher and the showers are great but the character retains a homely and happy charm). We absolutely loved our week....the pool was fantastic, countryside and views amazing, the villa was really clean and cared for and Xristina and Pericles (our hosts) superbly helpful, friendly and informative. We would love to return and book Pericles' boat next time. We made some marvellous memories!

Eine wundervolle Villa an einem einzigartigen Fleckchen Erde! Wunderschöner, erholsamer Familienurlaub!
Wir verbrachten 5 wundervolle Tage (viel zu kurz!) mit unserer Familie in dieser tollen Villa! Es ist ein atemberaubendes Fleckchen Erde. Das Haus liegt direkt am Strand, sehr einsam sowie ursprünglich und weit weg von Tourismus und Menschenmassen. Morgens wird man vom Meeresrauschen geweckt, tagsüber entspannt man im gepflegten, großzügigen Garten am großen Pool oder besucht die spektakulären Strände (Balos, Fallarsana, Elafonisi) und abends genießt man den wunderschönen Sonnenuntergang über der Bucht und lässt den Tag auf einer der schönen Terrassen z.B. beim Grillen ausklingen. Das Haus ist top ausgestattet, sauber, sehr geräumig und man fühlt sich sofort wohl. Einfach perfekt! Auch unsere Kinder waren glücklich und verwandelten den felsigen Strand vor der Haustüre in einen Abenteuerspielplatz. Es gab sogar Spielekisten im Haus, was zeigt, wie sehr die Gastgeber auch an Kinder denken.
Xristina ist eine wundervolle Gastgeberin, die uns rund um die Uhr mit Rat und Tat zur Seite stand. Sie organisierte für uns eine tolle Tour nach Balos, brachte uns frische Eier von ihren eigenen Hühnern und war einfach sehr sympathisch und hilfsbereit. Sehr gerne kommen wir wieder!!
Wir hatten einen unvergesslichen Urlaub und bedanken uns von Herzen bei Xristina und Pericles!

Einzigartig!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Für uns der beste Platz auf Erden!!!
Diese einzigartige Villa steht in Sfinari direkt am Meer,wer gern fernab vonTourismus seinen Urlaub verbringen möchte ist hier genau richtig!! Sfinari ist ein kleines Dorf mit super netten Einheimischen,hier freut man sich auf die Gäste die gerne wieder wiederkommen!!!
Das alte Haus versprüht seinen Charme,es hat uns gleich verzaubert genau wie der große tolle Pool,der riesige Garten und die vielen Sitzgelegenheiten rundherum,es gibt immer irgendwo einen Schattenplatz und eine andere Aussicht auf die Landschaft!! Uns hat hier die totale Entspannung gleich am ersten Tag überfallen, nichts mit Eingewöhnung!!
Alles ist super sauber,genug Platz um mit mehr Leuten zu kommen,die Küche hat alles was man so braucht,kurz und gut :es fehlt an nichts!!!
Tagsüber kommen öfter mal Ziegen und Schafe vorbei,3 Tavernen sind fußläufig am Strand,sehr leckeres Essen, morgens wird man vom Rauschen des Meeres geweckt!!
Einzig ein Auto ist absolut notwendig ,damit ist man auch zum Beispiel in ca 25 Minuten am Strand in Falassarna und fährt dabei an vielen Supermärkten vorbei!
Wer mag kann eine Bootstour mit Pericles,dem Hauseigentümer buchen,es ist ein unvergessliches Abenteuer!!!!
Unser riesengroßer Dank geht an Xristina und Pericles,sie sind immer da wenn man Fragen oder ein Problem hat,sie geben super Tipps um die Gegend zu erkunden, sie sind die besten Gastgeber die wir jemals hatten,vielen lieben Dank dafür!!!!

Haven on earth
A wonderful quiet piece of Sfinari.
Close to the sea and for people which want an individual holiday away from over crowded places.
The owners are very polite and support you in all cases you ever need.

Book This Villa. It's Amazing.
As a family we always prefer to book a villa preferably off the beaten track a little bit over a hotel or package holiday.
I must admit to being a little nervous before arriving that maybe this one was just a little “too” off the beaten track. For example, the nearest “proper” supermarket is a 25 minute drive away.
However the things that made me nervous are actually what makes this place so great and with a little planning and use of the local shop which sells the basics (bread, fruit, snacks) it provides a real escape from the holiday crowds.
The hosts in Xristina and Pericles are all that you could hope for in as much that they are super communicative, friendly, helpful, always on hand to give advice. The villa is spotless and had two cleans during our fortnight stay as well as separate visits to clean the excellent pool. They also kindly gave us some eggs from their chicken which was a lovely gesture.
The villa is spacious both inside and out with various outdoor seating spots – to enjoy the sun or shade and watch the amazing sunsets.
Pericles villa itself is nestled just below the village of Sfinari and literally sits on the waters edge. It’s a little rocky immediately outside the villa – but with beach shoes you can enter the crystal clear water here for a bit of snorkelling.
A 5 minute walk along the coastline takes you to a rugged but lovely little almost private beach with nice loungers and umbrellas. You’ll get maybe 20 other people on the beach in the height of the summer season, which is incredible given how lovely and natural the beach is.
There are also 3 fantastic tavernas on the beach all pretty equal in terms of quality serving predominantly seafood of course but also with enough other foods done on their outdoor grills (Souvlaki etc).
Ultimately the villa provides a great base to explore the Western Coast of Crete. The amazing Falasarna beach which provides a more “typical” holiday beach experience (watersports, plentiful umbrellas, a little more busy – but still not crazy, white sand and turquoise water) is just 25 minutes away. If you prefer something a little more natural then Elafonisi beach is about 1hr drive and Balos is best accessible by boat – which Xristina will be able to help you with. If you have kids then there are 2 waterparks up towards Chania (about an hours drive away). And of course there is Chania itself which is well worth a visit or two.
Three small points to make. You will definitely need a car. There are some quite “hairy” mountain drives required to explore this side of the island and even get to the villa. We soon got used to it and have of course experienced it elsewhere, but coming up against a herd of goats on a mountain road 500m up with a fair drop was a bit nerve wracking. It can also get really windy at times in Western Crete – in some respects it’s nice as it takes the edge off the heat, but it can blow pretty wild at times.
All in all a 5* experience and we thoroughly recommend.

Loved this place
We absolutely loved this place, built in the 9th century originally as a warehouse. Right on the edge of the beach with beautiful views across the bay if you want to get away from it all but still walk to lovely places to eat it’s perfect.
Without a doubt the best hosts we have ever had at a villa, they really couldn’t do enough to help or advise us. 90 minutes from Chania airport and it’s worth every minute of the drive to reach this special spot.
I never bother to write reviews but the hosts and villa meant I really had to this time.

Wonderful holiday!!!
Wir durften zwei herrliche Wochen hier in der Pericles-Villa verbringen. Xristina und ihr Mann waren sehr freundliche, hilfsbereite und zuvorkommende Gastgeber. Die Villa hat alles was man für einen entspannten Urlaub braucht. Der Blick zum Meer und die herrlichen Sonnenuntergänge (auch von der Dachterrasse aus!!!) werden uns sehr fehlen.

Wonderful
Pericles beach villa has an amazing remote setting with unspoilt scenery and breathtaking sunsets in abundance but is very comfortable with every facility you could possibly need. A beautiful good sized pool plenty of outdoor seating areas for eating, relaxing or sunning yourself. Three tavernas 700m along the shore serve simple fresh fish and salad dishes, what makes this a special place is the lovely hosts, Pericles, xristina and their three sons nothing is too much trouble for them their generosity and the great boat trip to Balos. A memorable trip that we highly recommend.

Fantastic stay
We had such a wonderful and memorable stay at the Villa.
You really are right on the beach and because there aren't too many houses near you, you truly feel like it is your own private (albeit a little windy at times😏) beach. The beach offers the fun and the pool offers the tranquility. The seating and dining areas all around the house ensure you can escape both the sun and wind if necessary while also being able to watch the most amazing sunsets.
The 5ish minute walk to the fantastic local tavernas along the beach, while framed by the most spectacular sunsets is something we'll always remember (bring a torch for your walk home though!). You'd be hard pressed to find a better spot to eat, drink and watch the sunset. We couldn't tear ourselves away from the wonderfully friendly and sweet staff and owners at Thalami, and returned many times.
If you can, I would also recommend a day out on Pericles' boat. This is an experience you will never forget. Not just because of the amazing beaches he will take you to, where you jump off his boat and swim to the beach before the masses arrive. But also because he is one of the most unique people we have ever met. He wants to show you the best of his country, food, traditions, history and is such a character we will talk of him fondly, and with big smiles on our faces, for years to come. His wife Xristina is also fantastic and makes the best food!
Thanks you both so much for making our holiday so memorable.

Fabulous accommodation, wonderful location and super-friendly host
Our family of four thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The villa has everything you could possible need, including outside seating on all sides so you can always escape the summer winds! Sunsets on the upstairs terrace were out-of-this-world. Xristina was so friendly when she popped in for the mid-week clean and there was a great amount of food and drink waiting for us on arrival - it was a really nice touch that she sent us a picture of what she'd left for us when we were on our way, to save us doubling-up with our shopping. 3 equally delicious seafood restaurants 5 minutes walk away and reasonable driving distance from the great sites of Western Crete - Elafonissi, Falassarna, Chania. Stunning.
