Wow where to start, Coral Cottage and our stay with Karyn and Boris is one of the highlights of my life. The cottage is large and well appointed, huge comfortable bed and separate kitchen/dining area. The private balcony and boardwalks down to the water afford gorgeous views, not to mention the views from the shower. The snorkelling at your doorstep is sensational with beautiful and colourful fish, starfish and coral (and turtles I hear, though we didn't see any). It was also nice and private up at at the cottage which I appreciated, but we were free to join Boris in the staff at the main residence for a chat and a drink which we also enjoyed.
Dennis and Irene spoiled us with amazing freshly cooked produce, and an abundance of it so we didn't go hungry after a day on the water. The only food tip I would give to guests is to bring your own instant coffee if you are a bit coffee-fussy.
Tom and Boris made our days on the boat a dream, even at the end of the whale season with dwindling whales we got 2 out of 3 days whale swimming with truly amazing experiences in the water with them. They are respectful of the whales and knowledgeable in their behaviour and ecology. Even on an overcast and windy day the whale swimming was incredible, and they only take four out on their boat (which is the max number of people that can be in the water at any time + guide) so you don't have to wait around and miss out while others swim.
Karyn made everything about the booking process smooth and easy, and was a life saver when our internal flight was cancelled, helping us get on another flight and finding us backup accommodation in Neiafu, we honestly cannot express how grateful we are for how she went above and beyond to help us.
Overall our stay was the experience of a lifetime and I'm already plotting a return trip. Thank you Boris, Karyn and your staff.

Total relaxation, incredibly romantic – a Honeymoon in Paradise!
There are simply no photos that can do this beautiful destination justice.
Expect seclusion - Fofoa Island had its own laid-back pace and magic, which was easily discovered as we soaked up the turquoise lagoon that wraps around Coral Cottage.
The unique and stunning property, built by owner Boris is eco-conscious, simple – and had everything we possibly needed.
Home to coral reefs, crystal clear blue waters, and a view worthy of heaven, this island not only captivated our senses but offered the kind of atmosphere where you could feel your blood pressure instantly drop!
Lush, tropical, serene, and intimate, Coral Cottage was truly a peaceful and romantic property to celebrate our Honeymoon and offered a holiday we will forever hold in our hearts.
The attentiveness of both Karyn, Boris, and their staff was excellent, the food - simply stunning, which included a delicious sea to plate service in addition to local recipes with ingredients grown on the Island.
The hospitality of the owners was personal, friendly....and a lot of fun.
My husband and I highly recommend for anyone wanting an off-grid honeymoon in a remote and beautiful part of the world.
A huge thank you to the team - the experience was first-rate down to the last detail.

Simply the best!
Coral Cottage is incredibly beautiful. We have just returned from our second stay at the cottage and our third stay with Boris and Karyn on Fofoa Island.
If you are looking for a tropical island escape this is it!
Coral Cottage looks out over the most divine pristine lagoon.
The sea life just at the foot of our cottage steps was crazy! Clouds of fish, rays, eels and turtles literally cruising past the stairs as you sat and enjoyed a sundowner!
Karyn and Boris are exceptional hosts who take care of EVERYTHING from the moment you step off the plane in Vava’u. They really do make every guest feel like family. All you have to do is get on with enjoying your holiday.
We had incredible meals with lots of beautiful fresh seafood. Even the lunches when out whale watching are delicious....those chocolate balls!!!
We had a week long stay and did four days of whale swims. That gave us a couple of days just to relax and enjoy the lagoon. A paddle across to the little uninhabited island across the lagoon is a must.
We loved our whale swims and felt very safe with our lovely enthusiastic whale guide Tom.
Thank you Karyn and Boris for another magical stay. Xo

A slice of heaven
Coral Cottage is one of the most special places I have ever stayed. It is the perfect place for a complete unwind, re-set and the best place to go swimming with humpback whales. White sand, coconut trees, Technicolor turquoise surf, humpback whales on the horizon that is the view Coral Cottage offers you from your private deck, the bathroom, the kitchen, the cozy reading nook and the private stairs leading down to the lagoon. It offers you remote Castaway feeling with resort-style touches while being eco-friendly. The full-catered option comes with the most delicious gourmet meals which -bear in mind- are whipped up in an island kitchen.The friendly, personal service starts with the ease of communication during booking, continues during the days spent on the island and all the way to the airport transfers. While the location is absolutely stunning, it is the people who make the place. Boris, Karyn and their boys are wonderful hosts in their island home and make you feel welcome from the minute you arrive, Whale-swimming guide Tom, Eddy and Laura in service, the incredibly talented chef Jo and baking queen Emma make up the lovely team who spoiled and cared for me throughout my stay, Thank you so much for the amazing whale swims, the fun times out on the boat, around the fire pit and on the beach. I hope to return soon!

This is truly a piece of paradise! I cannot recommend the Beach House and Coral Cottage enough. Karyn and her team were amazing, we will definitely visit again.

Incredible
Amazing. From first communication to bittersweet farewell Karyn and Boris were incredible hosts and their slice of paradise was just what we needed to celebrate our wedding anniversary and step off the treadmill of our busy lives. Karyn, Boris and the boys were exceptional, sharing their knowledge of Tonga, offering kindness, care and privacy in equal measure. We visited in the 'off-season' at the end of Tonga's so called rainy season. The weather was great, hot and a touch steamy but the odd shower didn't impact on our visit at all. Karyn helped us provision the house, we bought some extra treats from NZ and cooked for ourselves (baring a lovely anniversary dinner cooked by Karyn). We snorkeled at least twice a day, swam, kayaked and explored. Oh and we lay about reading books and snoozing. Honestly this place spectacular. If you love getting off the beaten track, value the environment and getting amongst nature, and prefer personalized service over the resort conveyor belt this is the place for you! We will be coming back with our kids soon.

Spectacular and blissful
A spectacular spot to have a true island holiday. Remote in the best possible way, but still with all the comforts one needs on holiday, hot showers, delicious food and comfortable beds all provided by a fantastically inspirational family who are warm and caring hosts. Karyn, Boris and their boys know the area like the back of their hands, just chill and swim or get as adventurous as you dare!
Definitely plan to go out on the boat to witness and share time with the majestic, graceful humpback whales, the most surreal experience you can imagine.
We have travelled the world and this spot stands out like no other.
Just go.

Meraviglia delle meraviglie
Siamo stati 4 notti al Coral Cottage e ci siamo trovati da dio!
Cottage privato vista laguna. abbiamo optato per la mezza pensione, la cena ci era servita direttamente nel Cottage, tutto squisito!!
I proprietari sono gentilissimi e disponibilissimi! Con loro abbiamo fatto anche whales watching un'esperienza assolutamente da fare!

Incredible!
We were delighted to be the first guests at The Coral Cottage in August, 2016. Our eight night stay was perfect. The cottage is beautifully presented, with two fales side by side, set amongst the trees above the gorgeous lagoon. The first fale is a living and kitchen area. I loved curling up on the day bed with a book and enjoying that stunning lagoon views. The second fale had a spacious bedroom and bathroom. Sitting in bed with my morning cuppa looking out to the jungle one way and across the lagoon the other way was heaven! Where else can you see whales leaping while standing under the shower!?! Our favourite spot was sitting above the sparkling blue water on the stairs that dropped into the lagoon. A perfect place for sunset drinks after a day of swimming with whales. We took the fully catered option and loved the beautiful meals which include lots of fresh seafood and salads. Boris, Karyn and their team are wonderful hosts who went out of their way to make our stay truly special. Our eight night stay was the perfect length as we were able to have four days of whale swims and three days just to relax, and explore the lagoon and neighboring islands. This was our second visit to Fofoa and definitely not our last! Thank you Karyn and Boris.
