The perfect home for a relaxing weekend in the french countryside, it doesnt get any better.
I can not recommend this property enough, it was faultless in every way.
This is not just a house but a home, upon arrival Monique (the owner) made us feel very welcome and showed us around, making sure we were settled in before leaving us to enjoy the property for our long weekend.
The whole property is beautifully decorated with a homely rustic feel. Although rustic the finish and quality is superb, the mattresses were very comfy, and the kitchen is better equipped than in my own home. Even the TV was top of the range with a great sound system and quick wi-fi. It was also spotless from top to bottom.
We stayed as a group of eight and everyone had plenty of space to come and go as they needed. You will need cars though as the nearest town with any shops are around 7km away, but even that is a small town with just a few places. However that was exactly what we wanted, it was very tranquil and made you feel a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Getting from La Rochelle airport to the accommodation was very easy and takes around an hour by car, with a large supermarket around 20mins away (but en-route).
We are all looking forward to going back again, although it was very pretty in the winter I think when it's warm it will be even nicer with the use of the large private pool and lots of outdoor activities.

Perfect place to stay to escape and enjoy the French Countryside
Loved staying in this gorgeous house! It has been renovated to an incredibly high standard and was so clean! The rooms were lovely, but my favourite room was the kitchen which had HUGE windows and a beautiful view! Also, the lounge was so comfortable and cosy!
The house is in a small village, which doesn't have a lot in the way restaurants or shops, but there is a town about ten minutes away by car which has everything you might need (post office, supermarket, bars and restaurants, etc).
Will definitely go back if I ever go back to La Rochelle!

Wonderful place in the French country side.
We went in February with a group of 8, and we were amazed with the place. Very spacious, comfortably housing us all.
The beautiful scenery absolutely complimented a great renovation to an old historical building. I would most certainly go back.

Beautiful and peaceful
Couldn't recommend this property enough. Our host was wonderful and very patient with our total inability to speak any French. We had a fantastic time, the house is beautiful and we'd definitely go back again.

Fantastic Gite!
We had an amazing time here, the place is beautiful and stunning view across the river.
The bedrooms are good sizes and very comfortable, and the bathroom set up works very well for groups. The living room and kitchen are just amazing spaces and makes it feel like a really special and memorable holiday.
The gite seemed to have everything you could possibly need, the kitchen is incredibly well stocked with plates, glasses, baking trays etc. We bought in a lot of cheese, breads and sharing foods and there is plenty of serving dishes and we easily created a feast on the dining table!
Area wise we were off season so there wasn't as much open in the immediate area, a car is definitely needed, but we were very happy to stay in when it is such a lovely house!
It's a great place to visit, thoroughly recommend it!

Gorgeous home in an idyllic village overlooking the beautiful countryside
This beautiful property was a home away from home. Everything in the house was immaculate and every aspect was so thoughtful it made our stay so accommodating and restful. The rooms are very spacious with loads of room for our party of eight. I would recommend this property to anyone who wants a relaxing and peaceful get away.

Charme et repos
Cela fait plusieurs années que nous réservons le gîte « La Métairie de Fond Guibert » et nous sommes toujours accueillis avec bienveillance. Sa propriétaire est toujours aux petits soins pour nous.
Nous apprécions ce logis, qui allie le charme de l’ancien et la modernité, pour son calme et sa sérénité.
Pour les amateurs, vous trouverez des sentiers de randonnées autour du lac et de quoi passer du bon temps à la pêche au coup, aux carnassiers ou à la carpe.
On ne peut que recommander ce gîte.

A very special property and location
We have recently returned from our week in Chateau Guibert and couldn’t rate this house highly enough. Monique greeted us on our arrival and her communication was excellent. She’s clearly very proud of her property and we can see why. The house has wonderful views that you can never get bored of. The sun is over the garden all day but there are so many lovely little shady areas so you’d never be short of somewhere to sit. We didn’t want to leave the property during our first few days as the weather was beautiful and the pool a must especially for the children. The rooms inside are incredibly cool during the day, it had the most well equipped kitchen we’ve ever seen, the red squirrels were hopping about the trees every day, and there were so many lovely thoughtful touches to the house in terms of decor to even mention. The area is very quiet so you do have to drive to get to anything but that’s a plus really as it’s just so peaceful!
We can’t thank you enough Monique, it was a real treat.
