We stayed here for one night last night and it was by far the worst place we have stayed in Sri Lanka. We do not have high expectations as have stayed in rustic tree house's to rural home stays over the last month. The staff member who greeted us was less than polite, and although we had been told on booking there would be enough room for us all in each room there wasn't and one had to sleep on the floor without a matress. In the morning we found breakfast at a very helpful neighbouring hotel as not available at ours.

Galle Centre Home is located on Upper Dickson Road marked by the Lady Hill statue at the Upper Dickson Road / Lower Dickson Road fork. My arrival was met by unexpected circumstances and a failure in technology. As a result my last minute booking was cancelled and I arrived with no place to stay! This boutique accommodation has good character and the hosts are genuinely kind. Without any provocation they fixed me a sleeping space in a small room and welcomed me to stay. As it was, I had to leave Galle and could not keep the accommodation but I was truly impressed with the care and hospitality they offer their guests. Even though I could not keep the accommodation, the rooms are quality -- clean, well kept, and with offer for a standard set-up: desk, bed, toilet and shower. The common area is inviting -- offering chance for quality conversation with other guests at the accommodation. Plus, there is a bike hire for traveling around Galle and the beaches. For travelers concerned with proximity, the bus station, main attractions and Fort are all within a short walking distance of the Galle Centre Home. It is a true gem!

Saubere Zimmer, saubere Sanitäreinrichtungen. Zudem steht eine Gemeinschaftsküche zur Verfügung. Die Unterkunft ist zentral, Galle Fort haben wir immer fußläufig erreicht. Das Frühstück ist ausgezeichnet, unter anderem werden verschiedene frische Früchte, Omelette und Toast mit Marmelade angeboten. Ausgezeichnetes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Sehr freundliche Mitarbeiter und sehr guter Service. Wir haben ein Zimmer für zwei Personen gemietet und haben uns ausgesprochen wohl gefühlt. Gerne wieder.

1. Location is perfect. Ten minute walk from Fort. 2. Helpful. The guy was there even though we were delayed about five hours and arrived after ten pm, and fed my starving child. 3. Im maybe being a little harsh with this rating because I think maybe a few things areslipping and this was so close to being excellent But_ no mosquito nets, and Windows didn't shut properly. Also large holes in wall and one in bathroom, plus toilet seat kept on falling off. The holes made me a bit paranoid about bugs, also was quite hot and stuffy even with fan 4. The morning we left the guy wasn't there so I couldn't get my change, often hard to find the staff. They were very nice however, just needs a tiny bit of upkeep with the rooms to be very good. Price was right.

Our final 2 days in Sri Lanka were spent here. The hosts are extremely welcoming and helpful. The guest house is very very clean and very comfortable. We had our own bathroom with hot water and it was very clean as well. The needs of the traveler are very well catered for and in our building we had a kitchen where you could prepare your own food, store beer and make a cup of tea. There is also a dining room and lounge room and veranda - where you can hang out. The breakfasts - which cost about Rs 450 each are basic (eggs on toast, coffee/tea and fruit). The motel is in close walking distance to everything (town centre, fort, bus station and train station) but in the heat of the day a tuk tuk might be more comfortable. This motel is highly recommended by us and a lovely places to end our Sri Lankan trip. (we caught the train back to Colombo and a bus to the airport from Fort Station)

This hostel is pretty much fits the bill on how a hostel should be. Run by friendly, informative and honest people atop an english tutoring school. Rooms were basic, but most importantly clean and furnished with the necessities. Bathrooms were cleaned daily. Kitchen and fridge available for guests. Common area was inviting and homely, with a tv and dvds. The lack of mosquito net was a slight issue, as the mosquito vapour thing they provided did not stop the massacre at night. And there was a gecko in my room, but it was the friendly kind anyways so no harm done (just a fair warning coz they're everywhere in SL) The place looks obviously new, and I'd hope that they will continue the meticulous maintenance of the place for its future success. General precaution: the place is located 10mins walk from the fort, and if you are walking home at night, be sure to be vigilant. The hostel is in a nice/safe area, but you do have to cross a quiet street along the water to get there from the fort, and there was one time when we'd thought a group of guys were following us along that strip of road.

ho passato tre notti in questo piccolo hotel, solo pernottamento, a disposizione 2 bagni e una cucina, molto semplice e carino in una zona poco lontana dal centro (5 min a piedi) e dalla Old Galle (15 min a piedi) ma veramente tranquilla. Me lo meritavo dopo una settimana nel "casino" di Hikkaduwa....

The good: Room was very clean, well maintained, and designed tastefully. Location is in a quiet, green and relaxed neighborhood, and within reasonable walking distance from the fort and train/bus stations. Nice living room and balcony. The owner is very friendly and helpful. Needs improvement: No mosquito net for the bed or window, and the room is VERY hot and stuffy at night - yet you don't want to open the window and get bitten. That's was a real issue! No hot showers in this Guesthouse (if you were expecting), and one of the two showers is still not fully complete (cement floor and walls - yet very clean).

Checking into Galle Centre Home was a great experience. Mr. Viraj, the Manager was very courteous and the check in process did not take more than five minutes. Galle Centre Home is located in a very peaceful upmarket area away from the noise and rush, but very close to the local shopping area and Galle fort. We had booked two double rooms and a single room. One of the double rooms had an attached bathroom, and we had access to two more clean bathrooms. The bedrooms are tastefully decorated and are clean. There is a dining table available along with a sofa set in the drawing area. The open balcony is provided with a table and chairs where we could relax and have our dinner too. The kitchen is provided with basic amenities like a coffee maker, a fridge and cutlery. I saw a radio there, but did not use it. Complimentary coffee powder, whitener and sugar are provided in the kitchen. We had the option of ordering for Sri Lankan breakfast and dinner. Ms.Ratna cooked and served the food which was very tasty. We were served String Hoppers with Sambol and curries for breakfast along with a generous fruit platter. Dinner consisted of Sri Lankan rice with vegetables and fish curry. The food bill was very reasonable. What I liked the most was the hospitality of the owners Marga and Eranda Baduge and the great service provided by the staff. They had booked two Tuk Tuks for us for local sight seeing, and the charges were very reasonable. Overall I would rate Galle Centre Home as a great place to stay.
