It was my wife and my great pleasure to stay at Casa Olivo D, comfortably outside Bevagna by but a few minutes drive. Surrounded in a the embrace of olive trees with columns of grape vines in every direction and up the hill alongside, the house is idyllic in its setting.
Inside is very comfortable with everything one could need for a relaxing comfortable stay. It has been very thoughtfully laid out and it becomes clear very quickly, our hosts Patricia whose English is quite functional, the charming Guido, their wonderful son and lovely daughter who speak fine English (just returning from graduation at agricultural college) want everything just right for their guests.
A lovely bottle of their own rosado was provided. The family makes excellent reds as well which are now going to have, for the first time this year, their own commercial label for widespread production. Given its devotion to quality including their rich desert wine and oil, we suspect their finally chosen label will do very well indeed.
It's very clear that making time of enjoying their visitors' company is a priority for this hard working family. They personalize such an opportunity at different times of the year in different ways.
In our case, we met delightful friends of theirs from Holland and Belgium and well all broke bread and wine together. I even played a little Gershwin on their piano as a thank you. It's a privilege to be one of the first on TripAdvisor to record our recollections in English for those seeking a special opportunity in a great area.
After one drive, we found our way very easily; the location of both wonderful Bevagna and a lovely Casa Olivo are ideal for exploring the riches of Umbria, with a "starter" at the fabulous--no the best-imaginable antipasto table bar at Serpillo Ristorante, not three kilometers away in a tiny village hamlet out of a fairy tale. With close to twenty five options (no filler) for E10 a person, it's hard to imagine how they do it each night and create the wonderful firsts and seconds they do so well. Don't miss an amazing dining experience there as well with fine wines at great prices..
Our final thoughts return to our home for a wonderful week in Bevagna in the embrace of Casa Olivo and its host family. I never used the word rent as it was entirely too welcoming, lovely and friendly for any of that. We felt like guests more than anything, and, with the proper choice, you may soon enough as well. Our only suggestion is that a little visual map with a couple of markers be created and provided for each set of guests as the first trip from nearby Bevagna can be a little confusing in the back country. After that, it's quite easy with no problem ever for smooth sailing in a perfect week's setting.
Grazie tanto for a wonderful life memory!
