We came back to this beautiful place the week before Christmas and incredibly we found blue skies, green and yellow blooming fields on both sides of the streets and on the background a stunning blue sea, the temperature was almost like summer and everything was peaceful and relaxing. Our very kind hosts, let us enjoy a glimpse of great folklore during the festival of Saint Joseph, a very important event in Santa Croce where, on a big stage in the main square, there was also a day long auction with a rooster and all kinds of home made and local products that the people of the village had given to the Saint. Felice and Antonella, who suggested us to go to sicily in this period, also allowed us to discover "the tables" set by some families for groups of three people, usually with poor economic conditions, who take on the roles of the Holy Family to be invited for dinner. From the Mass, we head home with them in a rather special procession accompanied by music played by local marching bands and, after the Holy family had had dinner, we shared the left over food (which was a lot and great!), that is given to charity or shared with friends. We are discovering this land step by step from this special country house, with their great owners!
