Our third stay at this villa and the first with Fa...
Our third stay at this villa and the first with Fabrice the new owner, who has made numerous improvements. It was good before and is now excellent. The weather for our second week was wet and chilly, so could have done with the pool being heated, but understand this is one of the plans for next year. We will definitely try to go back again.

Fantastic outside space to enjoy the spectacular Bergerac view
We were a party of 8, from 10yrs to 70yrs (4 from UK and 4 from Canada) and we spent a lovely week in this villa. When we booked the decking area didn’t exist so was a very welcome surprise and addition to this property. There’s plenty of outside space to dine, sit, chill out by the pool, enough to be together but not in anyone’s way if you need some space. The view never gets boring! It’s spectacular.
Pool fantastic size with 3 deep steps into shallow end. 12 sunbeds and a few large umbrellas to escape the sun. The table tennis was used a lot along with the hot-tub, BBQ and table under the canopy. Parking for at least 3 cars and electric gates to secure the property. It is next to a heavily used road, but the traffic noise is not intrusive – it did mean we were on easy routes to Bergerac airport, into Bergerac centre and the supermarkets. We visited Pomport (under 10mins in car) and Eymet (about 20 mins in car). Monbazillac village is about 5mins in a car, not sure it’s every Sunday but there was a food market in the evening – delicious foods of all kinds, wine, benches in the park and a band. There is an arrangement with the lovely patisserie next door that means villa guests get a free baguette and croissants every day.
Fabrice met us at the property and showed us around. At the time of writing there was not a welcome guide with instructions however Fabrice was very helpful and very responsive on WhatsApp if anything was needed. He told us of some local events and the day we left we found out he can arrange kayaking and picnics on the Dordogne so if that is of interest, he’s worth talking to before you arrive as he may be able to help sort out some holiday activities too.
The description reads as if there are 6 proper bedrooms in the villa. This must be updated, and the configuration made clearer. One of the main reasons for booking was because we thought we could all have our own rooms (2 couples, a grandparent and 3 children) but there are only 4 actual bedrooms in the main house (1 downstairs and 3 upstairs). There is a double sofa bed in the conservatory sitting area downstairs. The fifth bedroom is in a separate smaller self-contained property on the grounds. The stairs in here are wooden and quite tight. This also has a double sofa bed in the kitchen/lounge area. The smaller property is also higher up the hill on the grounds accessed by a gravel driveway, so mobility might be consideration. It does have the best Wi-Fi of the 2 properties – the kids would have spells hanging out in the ‘Wi-Fi vault’. All bedrooms have queen sized beds but no aircon – just a fan! Aircon was downstairs in the main living areas.
Thankfully we could make all of this work for us and wished we could have stayed longer.
It was a great place to spend some time together as a family and a good base for a first visit to a really pretty and interesting area. A good balance between doing nothing and sightseeing. We ate at the restaurant behind the villa, A La Grappe D’or, on the first and last night – the food was amazing, and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Chateau Monbazillac is worth visiting. We had a fantastic afternoon at a nearby winery, Chateau Ladesvignes, which is about 10 mins walk from the villa on a less busy road. The tour and wine tasting were free but it’s ideal to book in advance.
Tips: Prior to arriving check what cleaning products need to be bought with you or purchased. Although there were laundry items, we had to purchase dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid and sponge. Also confirm how much is needed, in cash, when you check in for the refundable incidental charge. Bath towels are provided but not pool towels. Buy some decent mosquito repellent.
All of this is at the time of writing, we know Fabrice has plans to continue making improvements to this villa and make it more fabulous. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend or visit again.

The property is superb, with a fantastic view of Bergerac. We had 2 fabulous weeks, and were very sorry to leave. It was obvious that Fabrice has spent a lot of time, care and money on the villa. Just 2 issues, the pool is not heated so the water can be chilly, and there is a steep slope to the bottom of the garden which could be a problem for smaller children. Fabrice takes a very keen interest in any problems, which get very quickly resolved. There is avery good bakery next door, and a restaurant within 100 yards. Almost perfection, and we had no regrets at all.

A really great place to stay, amazing views over the vineyards to Bergerac and easy access to the local area. Excellent bakery right in the doorstep.
Fabrice was an excellent host and very easy to deal with.
