This authentic house from the outside is fully modernised inside to a high spec, showing thorough planning and attention to detail to ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible. Situated in a stunning location with both the mountains for hiking and skiing and the beach of Pescara within 20-30 minutes drive. Both a summer and winter venue. The friendly, historical town of Sulmona very close by is full of fantastic buildings, restaurants and traditional cultural events are plentiful in the summer time. We had a wonderful time and shall return to the house to explore more in this beautiful region? We cannot recommend this accommodation highly enough. Quintessential Italy!

Lovely house positioned in a stunning area, It was very well equipped and was a pleasure to spend time in after a day on the slopes. It was stylishly decorated and no expense had been spared with the fixtures and fittings. We enjoyed barbecuing in the evenings and spending time on the sun terrace as the views were amazing. The area is ideal for walkers and skiers. We found the skiing to be cheap and the locals to be very welcoming. We also spent time sight seeing and we would really recommend this as the views were breathtaking.

Fantastic converted house near Sulmona in central Italy. Spacious house, comfortable beds and well-equipped - especially the kitchen.

The house was above and beyond my expectations, beautifully furnished with all mod cons. Set in the rural Italy countryside a mere 10 minute drive away from the Sulmona Town where bars and restaurants were so reasonable and food and people so fantastic. The skiing 20 minutes drive is brilliant and suitable for families. Again so reasonable compared to the Alps - with passes at 25-30 Euros a day. Being so central Sulmona is close to Rome, Napoli and the seaside all just a day trip away.

Il proprietario Michael è stato molto cortese e sempre molto veloce nel rispondere alle nostre mail. Siamo stati a casa Soltau in inverno ed abbiamo avuto modo di apprezzare la tranquillità del posto e la sua vicinanza alle piste. La casa è arredata in modo perfetto infatti dispone di ogni confort. Sul posto è presente anche una referente (Paola) che è stata molto gentile e disponibile. La caparra è stata restituita senza alcun problema nei tempi concordati. Thanks Michael. See you soon.

The weather was lovely and hot. Views were amazing. Local town Sulmona, was pretty and had plenty of shops and supermarkets. Plenty of pools to swim in nearby as well as the sea and Rivers. An ample well equipped house in a sleepy Italian hamlet. Tele room with games downstairs for my little girl. Great place to stay.

My husband and I had the wonderful experience of staying at Casa Soltau while visiting family nearby. The house was amazing and well-maintained. Michael did a perfect job of renovating the house. The bedrooms were very nice, and the kitchen was quite modern and well-equipped. The location was a bit out of the way but close enough to drive to local sites in just a few minutes. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer!

What a place top stay , absolutely beautiful , very clean with all the facilities to above hotel standards. It is a must, if visiting the Abruzzo region of Italy to stay here . I highly recommend the place and will endevour to continue to spend my future vacations at Casa Soltau. Thank you MIchael

We spent wonderful holidays in Casa Soltau. The house is beautiful, in a very quiet location, clean and fully equiped, especially if you want to prepare some italian dishes ! It's an excellent base for discovering Majella National Park, Abruzzo National Park and the beautiful city of Sulmona which is only a few minutes away by car and where you can find restaurants, shops, grocery stores... Our 5-year-old son really enjoyed playing in the garden in front of the house. Casa Soltau is a charming authentic house ! May 2013 (France)

The property was beyond our expectations. The town itself is very old but dont let that fool you. The people we met were very friendly and always willing to help if we needed it. In fact one night they brought us fresh produce from their garden. Michael thought of everything when he remodeled the house. We were three couples and if we ever needed some time alone the house provided us with the privacy we needed. There are two sitting areas with a tv and couch and all of the bedrooms had their own TV 2 full baths which is a Godsent when you have 3 women trying to get ready in the morning. In addition to all of this Michael was kind enough to provide us with a basket of food and wine along with milk in the refrigerator when we go there. This was greatly appreciated as we arrived late at night and starving. Again thank you Michael and if we are ever in need of a place to stay in that region we will get in touch
