Cottage
This detached stone barn has been converted to provide high quality well equipped cottage style accommodation. Situated on a hillside location, the property and grounds enjoy stunning views across the Derwent valley.
Guests can access a 1.5 acre field and there are many good countryside walks on the doorstep.
From the good sized entrance hall, one flight of steps going up leads to the three main bedrooms and the other steps go down to the main reception rooms. Off the entrance hall to the right is the fourth bedroom that has one double bed and en suite shower room with toilet and hand basin.
Upstairs to the left, at the end of the landing, is the main bedroom that has a king size bed and a single bed in it. It enjoys a vaulted ceiling and valley views.

Fabulous find!
I have just today returned from a truly wonderful 3 day break made all the better for staying at Derwent View.
We were a party of 6 adults, 1 child and 1 dog. Before our arrival Beth the owner offered to launder the bedding & towels in a 'sensitive skin' detergent for me as I find it hard sleeping in overly fragrant bedding. She really went above and beyond in making sure I was happy.
I noticed on arrival that there is a request for no dogs upstairs, so I had to take the ground floor bedroom as I'm the dog owner. The kitchen was incredibly well provided regarding utensils etc. All the bathrooms had toiletries provided and the main bathroom felt such a lovely room that I got myself some Epsom salts and had two wonderful soaks. Our party of 3 groups separated each day to do their thing, but I mostly just enjoyed the wonderful walk from the house that takes you through woods and along a lake and waterfall.
I would dearly love to return, but I will need to link up with family members again to make it affordable, but the price was very fair for our large party. The house was really well laid out and very comfortable. The only bad thing about our stay was that it wasn't long enough. I look forward to returning sometime (hopefully soon)

Breath-taking views
Just had a fantastic 3 night break over the May bank holiday, 4 couples and two dogs. Derwent View provided a really comfortable venue to get together with friends. The owners gave really helpful information about what was provided so we didn't duplicate stuff. Everywhere was clean and well maintained and it was warm with underfloor heating and great showers. It was really well stocked in the kitchen and plenty of space to eat and sit. Great weather meant we spent a lot of time outside. There were two really good outdoor tables which were well used by 8 adults and we barbecued two evenings. The garden is small but very usable with stunning views across the Derwent valley.
We had two dogs, and the place is very dog friendly. We have a springer so our relief to find an external hose with spray attachment was much appreciated. The garden is secure and there is also access to a hilly field where a dog can run off the lead. There are also immediate walks from the property out the gate and turn left which can be used for short walks off the lead or longer circular 3 mile walks along the river. So really handy for the early morning and the end of day.
It's the Peak District so the clue is in the name. Access is a hilly single track road which initially comes as a bit of a shock to lowland midlanders but you soon get used to it.
The property is on a hillside so there are slopes and there are steps inside the property to the ground floor bedroom. Bedrooms are small but fine.
Its a great base to explore a very beautiful part of England and we would definitely go back. The view is a seller.

Wonderful
Wow what a wonderful place! The views are amazing and the property is clean and comfortable. We all slept really well in the snuggly beds. Our dogs loved the enclosed garden and the open field to the side of the property.
Hope to visit again 🙂

Perfect!
Visited with a group of 6 people and two large dogs for a long weekend.
We had such a brilliant time and the accommodation was perfect.
Great walks on our doorstep and Beth was so helpful with recommendations before we arrived.
Would highly recommend the roast dinner at the Thorn Tree Inn, delicious!
Would definitely visit again.

Perfect place to spend a big birthday!!
Currently on our last night at Derwent view holiday barn, really don't want to leave!
Such a lovely building in a great location.
Light, airey, comfortable, spotlessly clean, well equipped, amazing views, simple can't fault it!
Ample room for 4 couples plus plenty of parking for five cars.
Will certainly be returning.....that's if I can bring myself to actually leave in the morning!! 😉😊

Amazing Place and Views
Very helpful owner. The whole of the accommodation was to a very high spec. Breathtaking views and walks right on your doorstep. Lovely to just sit outside and look over the valley watching the sunset. Lots of outdoor seating and a large BBQ.
Wonderful kitchen to cook and socialise.
Great for dogs.
Cannot fault this place and will be back.

Wonderful!
We booked Derwent View as a family get-together for our Dad's 90th birthday. The property and the location were perfect. The barn is to a high standard and the views are stunning. We loved that it is so pet friendly too and with a large field attached for dogs to run in. he owner Beth was very quick to respond to any queries. After a difficult year, this was the perfect place to celebrate a very special birthday.

Stunning
We booked Derwent View as a family holiday for my mum's 70th. The whole family came - 9 of us including 4 young children and a dog. The house was perfect with lots of space and very well equipped. We met the owner who very kindly came straight out to fix a small problem with the TV. There are beautiful walks from the doorstep and the views are spectacular. Lots of lovely family friendly day trips close by too.
We really cannot fault anything. Brilliant holiday. Thank you.

Outstanding Property
Excellent views & surrounding area, well worth the booking. All rooms to high standard, very clean & comfortable. So relaxing that it gave a well deserved recharge of the batteries !!
Will highly recommend to friends & family.
