We joined our friends to celebrate a special birthday at the wonderful Villa Margi; set in the cliffside overlooking the Bay of Naples, with Mt Vesuvius, Napoli, Vico Equense, Sorrento,Ischia and Capri as the back drop. We were whisked away from Naples Airport by the reliable Alex; the transfer having been arranged by Margi and Maria our hosts for the week. We were greeted at the door by Margi who proudly showed us around the spacious 4/5 air condition bedroomed villa; she then entertained us with a delicious three course dinner, sourced with authentic local produce,a great way to start our vacation in Italy. The villa has excellent amenities. You can easily self cater in the well equipped kitchen; Margi was available to cater had we wanted her to; there are a range of options for dining out. At the bottom of the hill (quite a steep climb for some, but do-able) there were 3 options..........a small bar/café bar that sold food and snacks to eat in or take out; we bought lunch items on a couple of occasions, as well as breakfast pastries for a reasonable price. Il Bikini restaurant had a delicious fish menu; then at the top end was the Michelin Star Capo Lagala Hotel Spa & Restaurant. There are two accessible fee paying beaches here too......Bikini Beach and Scrajo. The nearest town of Vico Equense is a 20 minute walk away or 5 minute drive by taxi/hire car. Where there are several eateries, notabley the famous pizza house where pizza is sold by the metre; also Titos Ristorante - delicious food and wonderful staff; Terramia - lovely wide ranging menu. Ice cream at Gabriele's is to die for, and a must! Margi very kindly drove us into, what affectionately became Vico, on a couple of occasions to the local supermarket and brought us back with our bags brimming with lots of Italian goodies...............ask for the shop where they sell the smoked provola (smoked buffalo mozzerella).......it's off the beaten track, but a fruit, vegetable & provola heaven! From 'Vico' you can take the train along the Circumvesuviana to Pompeii; Herculaneum; Napoli; Sorrento and all destinations in between. There are buses /ferries to the Amalfi Coast for Positano, Amalfi, Ravello, Capri from Sorrento. Alternatively you could book Alex who could give you a very competitive quote to take you by car. Having made the trips to all of these tourist locations in March when it was less busy and hot; our days were spent leisurely in the local environs. A wonderful place to stay, away from the hustle and bustle, but accessible to all important landmarks in the area - go if you can and contact Margi or Maria directly.

We took a winter break in the Naples area. The choice was made for Villa Margi, great choice! The hostess Mrs. Margi, lovely lady, lives on the lower floor, enabling immediate response to any request, including good guidance for places of entertainment and trips in the area. We started the first morning with wonderful pastries made by Margi. The villa is located on a cliff facing the sea, with spectacular views and amazing sunrise and sunsets. The villa is very spacious and suitable for a large family or up to four of couples. The kitchen is equipped for a large group, the kitchen includes gas hob, oven, microwave, large refrigerator and everything you need to cook for yourself. The villa is a 5-minute drive from the nearest town, Vico Equense, which has a variety of shops, restaurants and nice pubs. Vico Equense has a train station from which you can travel to almost all nearby sites. To reach the Villa Margi use google maps and not Waze.

Très belle maison avec une superbe vue sur la baie de Naples, le vésuve et des couchers de soleil magnifiques. Villa très spacieuse (nous étions 9), très bien équipée. Excellent accueil de la propriétaire qui est très serviable et parle bien anglais.

We (7 couples) spent a very enjoyable week at the beginning of September at Villa Margi. The villa has stunning views over the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius and the sunsets were spectacular, (as were the firework displays and, on one stormy evening, the lightning over the bay!). The villa itself is very spacious and comfortable, although for so many of us it meant one couple had to sleep on a sofa bed in the room accessed by the outside door, only a problem if other people wanted to go out early. The balconies and outside areas are also very spacious, although the pool is very small – don’t expect to be able to swim more than a couple of strokes from end to end. Small children would need to be well supervised in the outside areas. For so many adults we found the kitchen area a little small. It is very well equipped, although we would have liked enough coffee-making pots for our large group! Villa Margi is situated a couple of kilometres from Vico Equense. There is a train station in the town which is ideal for trips to Sorrento, Naples, Herculaneum, Vesuvius and Pompeii. This involves a walk (20-30 mins) at the start and end of each day out – there is no public transport along the main road which passes the villa. Vico Equense is the nearest place for most shops. The walk along the road is not pleasant – fast traffic, narrow and uneven pavements and a stretch through a tunnel (well-lit). The other route is a path through the woods above the villa, much pleasanter. Both routes involve steep climbs and would not be suitable for everyone. Margi, the owner is a lovely host. She lives in the adjoining property so is on hand for any queries and is very helpful. She cooked us an excellent meal one night (pre-arranged and chargeable) and joined us afterwards for a drink. We really enjoyed Margi’s company and her anecdotes. Overall we would recommend the villa as a great place to stay with beautiful rooms and amazing views that we will never forget. We stayed at the villa with our four teenage children. The villa is stunning with amazing views and good accessibility by car to places like Pompeii, Naples and Capri. Margi, the owner lives close by and couldn't do enough to make our stay enjoyable and memorable. We took up her offer of her cooking a meal for us- which we paid for. It was exceptional. The villa is spacious and has a homely feel to it. Three distinct double bedrooms and a further two 'through' rooms which can be converted in to bedrooms. Amazing lounge and beautiful outdoor dining space on the balcony. Sun loungers and chairs near to the plunge pool, measuring two metres by one metre. Small but good for cooling off. The journey up the hill to the villa was interesting and includes three hair pin bends so think about the size of your car! We had a nine seater and managed it and got better as the week went on! To walk up to the villa would not be for everyone so this needs to be considered. The nearby beaches are private and even with discounted tickets from Margi, cost us 15 euros each and then you pay for umbrellas etc on top. The beaches were really busy and rocky with small areas of volcanic sand. Driving around was an education and the twisty and winding roads mean that journeys take time! The scooters and moped riders are a law unto themselves.

Vista incantevole!!! Abbiamo potuto godere dello splendido paesaggio mozzafiato grazie all'ottima posizione della terrazza, a strapiombo sul mare...tutto ciò contornato da un'accoglienza unica!!! Ci ritorneremo molto presto!!! Grazie di cuore!!!

Ho soggiornato più volte nella Villa che consiglio spesso agli amici. Le stanze presenti sono tutte finemente arredate. Dalla Villa si accede facilmente alla spiaggia, ma spesso ho preferito restare nella piscina della struttura e godermi il tramonto sul mare. La consiglio sia a chi ama una vacanza rilassante sia a chi ama esplorare i dintorni, essendo tutto facilmente raggiungibile.

Villa Margi è una villa a strapiombo sul mare, dotata di ogni comfort. L'ambiente è elegante e rilassante. La padrona di casa, sempre disponibile, ci ha suggerito alcuni siti archeologici da visitare nei dintorni. Le bellezze naturali del territorio sono apprezzabili semplicemente affacciandosi dal grande terrazzo con vista sul golfo di Napoli.

I am a returning guest at villa Margi as I have been there twice. The Villa is located in the outskirts of Vico Equense village, which is in the northernmost part of the Sorrento coast. This makes Villa Margi very handy if you are planning to visit the peninsula of Sorrento and the Amalfi coast, as both sides of the coast are at reach from Vico Equense; not being right in the middle of the coastline, however, makes it easier to drive to Naples, Pompeii, Ercolaneum and Caserta. The Villa itself is just stunning: the view from the terrace is breathtaking, spanning from the gulf of Naples with the Vesuvius in the background, over to the cliffs of Sorrento. The Landlady lives in the same complex and is a lovely person and a handy help if you need indications about what to see and where to go. Furthermore she can cook exceptionally good dinners for a small addition to the rental charge, which I strongly recommend future guests to try. The first time I was at Villa Margi was in September and the weather was still very nice and warm, so we could enjoy swimming and sunbathing on the seaside. The second time it was August and the beaches were busier. Should you not fancy the crowd, you can always enjoy a drink in the panoramic (albeit a tad small) swimming pool on the terrace. Villa Margi has also a lot of outside space which you can enjoy, and if you are coming by car (as we did, so that it'll be easier to travel around), there is free parking space just outside the door. All in all, a lovely place to stay for families and friends, which I strongly recommend.
