Stayed at Covo degli Dei for nearly 3 weeks in June/July. We arrived in Milazzo around 21.30 and originally drove past the apartments but we told Marco where we were and he kindly drove down the road to "collect" us. Marco made us feel very welcome and said that if we had any problems at all, we shouldn't hesitate to let him know - he was there to help.
The apartment, although basic, had everything you could want - fridge/freezer, washing machine, iron, electric oven with gas hob, hairdryer, all cutlery and crockery. The shower was powerful with lots of very hot water and good water pressure. Outside the apartment was a small tiled patio with a table and chairs and also a clothes airer. We had breakfast each day sitting outside in the morning sunshine.
We had a slight issue with the bed but a quick text to Marco and the matter was resolved within the hour. We also asked Marco if there was a barbecue we could borrow and he returned with one straight away.
Just around the corner from our apartment there was the communal pool which had lots of chairs, deckchairs, sunbeds and parasols around it. The pool was maintained exceptionally well by Paolo and an added bonus was a fantastic view across to Mount Etna.
The area is not very touristy but Milazzo itself has some good shops and a couple of large supermarkets near to the autostrade.
There are 4 restaurants within walking distance of the apartments which serve a variety of food. The fresh fish and pizzas are particularly good.
We spent two separate days visiting different places all around Mount Etna - absolutely fascinating - and also drove to Santo Stefano, where we bought some lovely ceramics, and to Tindari where we visited the Greek and Roman archaeological site. However most of the time we spent relaxing around the pool or just pottering around Milazzo. The castle is well worth a visit.
Really enjoyed our holiday and would recommend.
