4 of us - 2 couples - spent a week in October in The Pink House. Speronella and Giorgio were very hospitable and interesting and we were treated to two evenings of delicious Sicilian food and enjoyable conversation. I used Tripadvisor and Lonely Planet for ideas of what to see and places to eat lunch. The Pink House is high up on the hillside, so our pattern was to eat out for lunch and then return home for happy hour, relax and cook dinner in the evening to avoid the drive down and up the mountain late in the evening. There is a well-stocked supermarket at the base of the hill. Cefalu is interesting and well worth a visit or two. For those who like to drive, we followed a Lonely Planet recommendation and drove around the Parc dei Madonie - high mountains, twisty roads and a delicious lunch at de Salvatore in Petralia Soprano - antipasto followed by grilled meats. quite a long day but well worth it. We really enjoyed meeting Speronella and Giorgia and our stay at The Pink House.

My Dad and I enjoyed our stay in Speronella's villa. The first floor apartment was equipped with almost everything we needed (maybe a small folder of local sights and recommendations would improve the experience), and the private patio had magnificent views down to the coast on sunny days. Speronella and her husband respected our privacy, but were friendly, and we really appreciated that they went out of their way to meet us at a gas station to show us the complicated drive back to their villa, located on the way to Gratteri. The drive to/from Cefalu train station (where we parked most days) took us twenty minutes, and though the road has lots of twists and turns, it is manageable once you get used to it. However, were we to return, we would look to stay closer to Cefalu. We booked rural accommodation hoping for peace and quiet, and unfortunately the five dogs on the property (some downstairs with the owners and some in adjoining pens) made this very difficult. In fairness, this is not unique as the neighbouring properties all seemed to have dogs as well, but not being dog people, this just wasn't for us. In summary, a traditional property with great facilities and stunning scenery, but you'll need to be a fan of dogs.

We really felt comfortable and at home in The Pink House, a traditional and cosy property with antique character and charm, set in its own spacious grounds way off the main road, tranquil and private, with great views all round. If you want to immerse yourself in Sicily this place is ideal - up in the mountains overlooking Cefalu', which is a lovely but untypical seaside town, handy for sightseeing and shopping. The villa is close to the quaint and friendly village of Gratteri where we spent many happy hours exploring and trying to converse with the locals (hardly any English spoken here so a great opportunity to try out your Italian). Our hosts, Speronella and Georgio, were welcoming, helpful, well travelled, interesting and discreet, in a word the personification of genteel. All in all we had a terrific holiday here and the house and its charming hosts were very much a part of it.

The Pink House has magnificent views to the hills and beyond to the sea towards Palermo. It was peaceful and a delight to return to after exploring Cefalu, a most interesting place. We could have stayed forever Speronella and Giorgio were delightful hosts and so generous in their hospitality. We left as friends and will be returning without doubt.

This review is late in arriving not in any way due to a lack of ideas and comments on our stay but on our return I found having written a review it simply reiterated all the the positive comments of previous reviewers, I put it to one side. We are a little younger than Speronella and Giorgio but the greatest pleasure for us was the opportunity to share a meal and ideas with a couple who have lived through the wonderful experience and relative calm of the second half of the twentieth century. Their calm and pragmatic approach exemplified by their helpful but hands off approach as hosts was ideal for us. We highly recommend.

We stayed at the Pink House for 2 weeks with our young daughters. The house is located up in the hills a little off the beaten track but not too far from the town of Cefalu. The owners had very kindly offered to meet us just outside the town in order for us to follow which was really kind and very helpful after a long days travelling. On arrival we were given a lovely welcome and were greeted with some lovely snacks/refreshments in the apartment which was a lovely touch. The apartment itself we found to be well equipped and full of rustic charm which only added to the delight of the place. The terrace was large and had the most stunning views, with beautiful sunsets to watch every evening. We very much enjoyed being far enough away from the town to enjoy the serenity of the hills, even with the windy roads! The girls loved the pool which we had to ourselves and was always a welcome relief from the heat. We really did have a wonderful holiday and were so grateful to Speronella and Georgio for allowing us to share their lovely home. And for being so helpful in offering advice on places to see. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

We really enjoyed our time at the pink house (2 adults and 2 children). We were met at the petrol station to make finding the property easier which was really helpful. The apartment was well equipped and included fans to make sleeping a bit easier as it was extremely hot when we were there. Our children loved the pool which we mostly had to ourselves as Speronella and Georgio (the owners) generally made themselves scarce when we appeared. A nice place for a bit of downtime, where a hire car is definitely needed. The views are fantastic from this spot - to the extent we tended to hang around at sunset to enjoy them at their best. The only downside (very minor) was the barking dogs - which the owners were very good at quietening when around, but they were a bit annoying when they were out or on occasions during the night,

The owner Speronella was very welcoming and provided us with a comprehensive starter pack of food as we had no chance of shopping before our arrival. The view from our upstairs verandah was stunning both during the day and at night. The pool was our refuge each evening as we experienced days of 36-44 degrees. The apartment was well provided with fans which were quite adequate of an evening and the windows were well equipped to control air movement and the sun. The heat made visiting sites very trying but it was of course beyond our control and we always looked forward to the plunge in the pool! Our privacy was always maintained but assistance and advise were readily available when needed. Some might not like the many corners on the up hill access road but it was how we were able to access such a magnificent house.

Spent last week at the Pink House with my husband and two teenage boys. We all absolutely loved it. Speronella and Georgiou were very gracious hosts and kindly arranged to meet us at the bottom of the hill in Cefalu on our arrival to guide us up the series of hairpin bends up to the Pink House. The 15 min journey up us well worth it - the views from the pool and terrace are absolutely breathtaking. The house itself was very clean and well equipped with everything you need (Speronella also left 'essentials' in the fridge so there was no need to dash off to the supermarket first thing). Spacious terrace with plenty of seating and a barbecue. A lovely week - hope to return again one day.
