Ci siamo fermati una settimana nel mese di luglio, il paese molto carino, la posizione dell’appartmento è ottima, in pieno centro, all’interno della casa si vive un’atmosfera di altri tempi, grande, accogliente e ben dotato di stoviglie e quant’altro, Olivia è un’ospite d’eccezione, ci ha accolto con squisita gentilezza e non posso fare altro che consigliare l’appartamento!

Fabulous place to stay in a historic old hill town by Lake Trasimeno
This was a wonderful apartment to stay in at the heart of Castiglione del Lago, which is a beautiful fortified town perched on a hill overlooking Lake Trasimeno. The bedrooms were very comfortable and large and airy - perfect for staying cool in sweltering heat. Olivia was absolutely fantastic in providing information before our stay and during it about what events may interest us. She was also there to greet us on our (late) arrival and the very friendly restaurant opposite provided us with a delicious meal. Olivia had provided plenty of provisions in the flat to keep us going, so there was no need to dash to the supermarket straight away. Right outside the flat, on the pedestrianised main street, were fantastic restaurants and shops. Just to the right, a few steps away, is the palazzo and the fortress walls which we visited. Within the walls, during the Summer, is an outdoor cinema with cafe, which is fantastic for an evening out. Down on the beach, just a ten minute walk away through an olive grove, there's the beach, pedaloes, volleyball and some great cafes. We loved the relaxed Cafe Pescatore for easy breakfasts and also aperitifs watching the sun set over the lake. Beyond Castiglione there are many famous Umbrian/Tuscan towns within easy reach: Assisi, Siena, Cortona, Montepulciano, Perugia. All together a perfect spot - very friendly, very chilled. Perfect
We absolutely loved our stay in Castiglione Del Lago. The apartment was perfect in every way. Beautifully restored, lovingly furnished and the best location possible.
The town itself is fantastic, as good a holiday destination that you can find. Lovely atmosphere, restaurants, bars and the lake is spectacular.
Olivia and her family could not have done more to make us feel welcome and I would hugely recommend this place to anyone else.

Una piacevole scoperta
Abbiamo trovato un appartamento antico e non vecchio, molto spazioso e comodo. Cucina fornita di microonde, bollitore, frigorifero e fornelli a gas (frigo con drink di benvenuto) e pure detersivi, sale olio etc. che fanno sempre comodo. Proprietaria molto cordiale e disponibile, parla bene inglese, francese e spagnolo. Consiglio di visitare il castello Rocca del Leone, entrando da palazzo della Corgna e poi camminando lungo il passaggio segreto dentro le mura. Inoltre di fermarsi all'angolo del buongustaio per uno snack o comprare qualcosa di buono. Per una pizza cercare il Fenix risto pub & Grill, e chiedere la locale e buona Birra Lake ai negozi del centro.

Super schöne Ferienwohnung!
Die Wohnung ist wirklich wunderschön! Das eine Schlafzimmer ist riesig, es haben locker noch zwei Reisebettchen für die Kinder reingepasst. Auch das zweite Schlafzimmer ist recht groß und sehr schön.
Wir waren dort mit vier Erwachsenen und zwei kleinen Kindern und der Platz hat vollkommen ausgereicht. Die Wohnung ist super gelegen oben im Ort, hat eine schöne Wohnküche, tolles Bad und auch ein sehr schönes Wohnzimmer.
Nur eine kleine Anmerkung: Wer mit kleinen Kinder hingeht, die Wohnung hat ausschließlich Fließenboden, d.h. nicht besonders warm oder schön um am Boden zu spielen. Wir hatten zum Glück einen kleinen Teppich dabei. Sollte man bedenken, da Kinder ja ständig am Boden spielen.
Olivia, die Gastgeberin ist sooo nett und hat es an nichts fehlen lassen. Wir hatten dort wirklich eine tolle Woche und nichts zu bemängeln!

Recommend - roomy and nice flat in a quiet town
We stayed in Casa Leone with young children (younger 10 months, older almost 3 years).
The owner was very helpful when we prepared our stay in Castiglione del Lago. She sent us a throrough welcome booklet which e.g. gave tips on which cafes and restaurants to visit. She also was very active communicator and I could feel safe that someone is really waiting for us to arrive. Also, during our stay she helped us to find a self service laundry.
The apartment is spacious and it has good kitchen supplies, sharp knives were a surprise - usually it is quite hard to cut tomatoes in rental apartments.
We were travelling in early April and the weather was still a bit chilly. Also inside it was a bit chilly but the blankets in the beds were extra warm! We could not turn on the heat to the radiators (but never mentioned it to the owner since we were not that cold - maybe she could have done something for it).
The younger child was crawling around the apartment and we noticed that the floors were not super tidy. They were ok if you are not sitting or crawling on the floor but not shining.
One thing a bit surprised us: There was no grocery store inside the historic center but we had to go a bit outside with the car to buy us food supplies. There were a lot of restaurants, cafeterias and ice crean shops but if you would like to make the food yourself, be prepared to walk a bit further.
Also, we did not manage get the wi-fi access to work. There is only the city wi-fi available for use and at the time of our visit it seemed not to work. This is of course not something that the owner can affect.
Recommend a visit to the museum and a walk inside the wall to go and see the fortress.
Overall: Recommend the apartment

Thank you very much for your review Suvi, I appreciate you taking time from your beautiful daughters to write it. I am glad you liked the flat and enjoyed your stay in Castiglione del Lago. I would have happily explained how to turn the heating on had you mentioned it. As info for other guests, a couple of the salami&cheese shops in the village stock the basics and a bit of fresh fruit and veg, and the two bakeries do bread, pizzas and cakes. The market is on Wednesday morning (lots of fresh produce and other goods) and there is a KM0 fruit&veg stall and local cheesemaker on Saturday mornings. The bigger supermarkets are in the new part of town. I hope to see you and your family again!
