Various relaxing areas with stunning mountain vistas Beautiful covered loggia area for dining al fresco Own small swimming pool Barbeque Parking for one car at the property and others at the village parking area just down the hill. A little about the area: The hilltop traditional village of Casciana boasts 250 inhabitants, a busy bar, and a basic shop which can supply all essentials including fresh bread. The bar owner will also often cook in request. This is a taste of real Italy, living in an authentic historical village which is set amongst the mountains, and surrounded by wonderful views. The village is around 3kms to the closest restaurant and after this point there is a good choice of restaurants and bars. The closest larger village is Camporgiano a five minute drive away with a couple of restaurants, pizzerias and bars; inhabited castle; supermarket, pharmacy, small Monday morning market. There is also a train station for easy exploration of the entire area. The village of Piazza al Serchio is also only a 5 min drive away - across the river, and all facilities can be found here including traditional local shops, a small Tuesday morning market when the village comes alive, a river, and some bars and eating places. This area has a real feel of the true Italy. In terms of larger towns, there is Castelnuovo the busy market town which is 20 mins or so away, the wonderful mediaeval town of Barga, renowned for its music, art, cathedral and great dining is 45 minutes away and the fully walled city of Lucca, which is a must for a day out, 1 hr 15 mins or so. Here you can meander or cylce on the intact walls, designer shop til you drop, go to a concert, enjoy a daily opera recital or just people watch in the grand piazzas. Closer to hand and a 15 minute or so drive is the ancient fortress of Verrucole with its stunning views of the entire area, and it's interactive museum. Close to here you will also find the Buffardello park where you can tree climb and zip wire and enjoy various challenges in the forest - suitable for both children and the most adventurous of adults. If adventure is your thing then you may also wish to visit the Parco Levegliese and sample rock climbing or river canyoning around a 45 minute drive away, and you may wish to combine this with a tour of the fascinating wind caves a further 15 minutes on. This is an ideal opportunity to stay in a mountain village house, with fantastic views, and experience the real Italy! TOURIST TAX - Do note that there is a local stay tax applicable at €1 per person per night, up to a maximum of 5 nights. This does not apply to children under 14.

Prachtige plek in mooie omgeving
Heerlijke week gehad in deze villa. Gelegen in een rustig dorpje, maar met voldoende voorzieningen binnen 20 minuten rijden. Vanuit de tuin heb je prachtige uitzichten op de bergen. De tuin is bovendien volledig omheind, wat prettig is als je met een hond reist. Verder was het huis schoon en van alle gemakken voorzien. De communicatie met de eigenaar verliep soepel en ze stond direct voor ons klaar toen we een dokter nodig hadden. Goed om te weten: met de auto bij het huis komen (en vooral weer wegkomen) vereist wat stuurmanskunsten. Het huis is voor acht (volwassen) personen waarschijnlijk te klein.

A place with inspirational views
We very much enjoyed our week in Casciana. The house is superbly situated at the top of the village with inspiring views in every direction, and from the bedrooms particularly. We enjoyed breakfasts out on the patio in the morning sun, set in the well kept garden with its olive trees, while planning our walks in the Alpi Apuane and watching the passing swifts. Most of the walks we chose this time took us a few kilometres back down the valley to Castelnuovo and up into the hills from there, but always an easy and attractive drive, and we tended to shop at the well-stocked supermarket on the main road not far away at Camporgiano. We found the house had everything we needed: the kitchen compact, easy to use and well equipped; and bedrooms comfortable and spacious. The weather could still be cool overnight in May, but not unpleasantly so and just an extra blanket sometimes at night did the trick. Very much looking forward to returning for another visit.

Beautiful house and view! But very remote!
The house is beautiful and was very clean and well maintained! We felt very welcome and the kids enjoyed the swimmingpool! A perfect vacation house and only the very remote location was a minus! It takes quite a long time to drive out of the mountains and the twisty roads can be a challenge for people getting car sick! The entrance to the house is very steep, so if you (like me) is driving a lowered car you will get into trouble! I scratched my car both on the front and back bumpers!

Mooie vakantiewoning!
Beautiful house, with all comforts you need. Nice location in a quiet and high situated and friendly little village. The house is very clean. Nice garden with a covered loggia, so that you can eat outside, with all kind of weather. The little pool is cleaned every day. A very nice house to stay!

Beautiful house in quiet village
We love this area of Tuscany and have been visiting it for the last couple of years. Valentina is a lovely, spacious villa set in a pretty little garden. It's a little tricky to find, but once you're there, you'll appreciate the fact that it's off the beaten track and so peaceful and quiet! We really liked the fact that there were lots of places to sit outside - on loungers around the pool, underneath a pergola shaded by plants and at the front of the house, a raised terrace with marvellous views across the countryside. You get a lot for your money with this house! Gianluca and Valentina were really helpful and when we had a blown bulb in one of the bathrooms, sent Valentina's parents round to replace it! Can really recommend this villa.

Perfect mountain location
Stayed with wife & friends - 3 couples . Very comfortable house & attractive grounds nestling in the mountains with terrific scenery all round. We had a great week in this lovely peaceful place. Daily trips out to Portofino, Parma, Lucca & Pisa - all longish drives around 2 hours each way which was perhaps the only drawback to the location but it was well worth it. Would also recommend Bar Maria in the village - such friendly & hospitable locals in such a delightful setting. The newly renovated church just along from the bar is a gem & should not be missed.

Wunderschönes ruhiges Haus
Wir waren mit unseren 3 Kindern 2 Wochen im Haus Valentina und haben es rundherum genossen. Haus, Garten und Pool waren sehr gepflegt und sauber, die Küche perfekt ausgestattet und überall gab es ein sonniges oder schattiges Plätzchen zum Ausspannen. Die Ausblicke auf die wunderschöne Landschaft ringsherum waren einfach genial. Maria und ihre nur ein paar Schritte entfernte Bar hat uns jeden Tag mit wunderbarem frischen Brot, einem frühmorgendlichen Café und - zur Freude unserer Kinder - jederzeit mit Eis versorgt. Die letzten Meter zum Haus waren für unseren großen Familien-Van eine echte Herausforderung, aber machbar. Valentina haben wir leider nicht persönlich kennengelernt, herzliche Grüße auf diesem Wege und vielen Dank, es war wunderschön !

A Tuscan gem
Absolutely beautiful place located in middle of rural Tuscany. 360" view of surrounding hills and mountains. The house itself is clean, all modern appliances and owners were very helpful. Would definitely recommend.

Nice renovated house, quiet, amazing view, we enjoyed the pool, very pleasant garden, just go there and have a good relaxing time. Well located for visits to lucca and pise
