A beautiful house in a stunning location, just a short distance from the historic walled city of Lucca. Villa Orsolini is a beautiful well-equipped house with everything you need for your stay in Tuscany, including bicycles to explore the lovely countryside. The owner is very welcoming and helpful and we will definitely recommend Villa Orsolini to family and friends.

We truly enjoyed our stay at Villa Orsolini in August. The Villa is a typical Tuscan villa decorated beatifully in an even more beautiful setting in Meati. From the church bell sounds every hour to the great restaurant up the street packed with locals to the quick and very easy drive to Lucca, it was such a great stay at the Villa. Luciano, the owner, was a pleasure to deal with and was super accommodating and shared some great tips for places to visit and see. He went anove and beyond to ensure we had a perfect stay. We hope to come back one day. If you are looking for a beautiful Tuscan experience, stay at Villa Orsolini.

Just 5 minutes away from Lucca by car (where parking is both cheap and easy) yet almost in the countryside this 300 year old villa offers comfortable accommodation and private outdoor space. The lounge and kitchen are on the lower floor with comfortable seating and eating options. There are plenty of plates, bowls, cups etc to make using the dishwasher worthwhile and there is a good fridge/freezer and cooking facilities. Although the spiral staircase up to the bedrooms is narrow, it is possible to go upstairs via the outside staircase shown in the main image which is quite handy. The bedrooms and beds are comfortable and well appointed with traditional furniture and the bathroom is more than adequate for four people. There is a toilet in a small room off the main bedroom which also houses the washing machine The wifi works well within the property and adjacent garden, but the speed of data delivered to the villa is only about 1.5 Mb/sec and at peak times when school is out or at the weekend it was noticeably slower. Most of the time it was easily good enough for browsing and reading email. The drive is long and narrow between clipped hedges and though wide enough for a car some care is needed if scratches are to be avoided. On the other hand the villa is well set back from the quiet lane, there are walls or tall hedges all around so that the garden is not overlooked. The two tables outside are handy for breakfast and evening meals, catching the sun at different times of day, but there are just two sunloungers. The beaches along the coast from Viareggio are reachable in about 20 minutes and Pisa is only 30 minutes away. For Pisa, we found it better to make the 20 minute drive to the station and street park at San Giuliano Terme and take the 5 minute, one stop journey to Pisa San Roccare station for €1.5 each way per adult. It was less than the car parking costs in Pisa but whichever way you go be VERY careful of the pickpockets on the trains, the stations and around the car parks and tourist sights.They tried to get at us both arriving and leaving! Luciano takes great care to welcome his guests and to provide information on the villa and where to go. Communication with him was speedy and effective. If you want to stay in this part of Italy and don't want or need nightlife then Villa Orsolini should suit you very well.

Een fijn huis met een goed onderhouden tuin. Lucca is een heerlijke stad om rond te dwalen, te genieten van de vele terrasjes en goede restaurantjes. De vier fietsen zijn heerlijk om in een half uurtje naar Lucca te fietsen. Ook het fietsen over de schaduwrijke stadsmuur was tijdens de hete dagen een heerlijke verkoeling. Binnen een half uurtje bereik je per auto de zee. Viareggio is aan te bevelen voor de strandliefhebber. Portovenere is perfect voor het huren van een boot en de kust voor Cinque Terre te bewonderen. Alle grote supermarkten bevinden zich binnen 5 minuten vanaf het huis. Luciano is een betrokken gastheer. Minpuntje is het slechte internet bereik. De straat is met de TomTom moelijk te vinden omdat deze geen romeinse cijfers heeft en Lucca maar liefst 4 verschillende via fonda's telt. Tip, toets Via Fonda prima in!!

We loved Villa Orsolini very much: its location in Meati's countryside, just a couple of miles outside of Lucca is so peaceful. Luciano took a lot of time to explain the Villa, restaurants and current events in Lucca. We often took the provided bikes to cycle in and around Lucca. The Villa is quite spacious, the layout practical. The two double bedrooms are tastefully arranged. One thing to mention is that the en suite is only a toilet with a washing machine. The outside gardens and seating area are beautiful and provide ideal al fresco dining. Villa Orsolini is ideally located to visit e.g. beach resorts like Viareggio also close to Pisa, Florence, Volterra, Siena etc. Even the National Park Cinque Terre is in reach. We would return to Villa Orsolini any time

We can not praise Luciano enough for his beautiful home. We stayed at Villa Orsolini for 20 nights and it was perfect. Great place to base yourself to explore the rest of Tuscany. We arrived to a very warm welcome from Luciano who showed us where everything was that we would need for our stay and a lovely welcome gift. The house itself is well equiped with all the comforts of home and we found it lovely and cool in the hot evenings. The linens were all so beautiful and comfortable and attention to detail was really nice.The gardens were very well manicured and provided lots of fun for our children at night chasing fireflies and watching the bats come in to feed. It was far enough away from the noise of the main motorways to Lucca and Florence to enjoy a quiet evening in the garden for a BBQ. We would love to come back sometime. Thank you Luciano for helping make our time in Italy so memorable.

Zusammenfassend vorweg, es ist ein wunderschönes Haus in perfekter Lage für alle Klassiker der Toskana und ein unglaublich gastfreundlicher Vermieter. Wir reisen seit 30 Jahren in Ferienhäuser und haben noch nie so eine tolle Ausstattung mit besten Materialien und so viel Geschmack genossen, das Alte wurde liebevoll restauriert und in Szene gesetzt. Außen: Garten blickdicht und sowohl sonnige als auch schattige Plätze und ab dem ersten Moment ein absolutes Sicherheitsgefühl rundherum. Bahnhof nahe, so dass alle Klassiker mit dem Zug bequem erkundet werden können, Supermarkt nahe bei, Autobahnen in alle Richtungen und dennoch hört man von alledem nichts, Innen: geschmackvoll, komplett ausgestattet für Selbstversorger. ein Gastgeschenk erwartete uns, so wie auch flauschige Handtücher, rundherum blitzende Sauberkeit, neue schöne Bettwäsche und das Mobiliar alles so fleckenfrei wie selten. das Haus verdient Gäste, die das alles zu schätzen wissen. Ho soggiornato in questa casa qualche giorno fa e posso solo che esprimere commenti positivi. Bella casa, pulita, confortevolissima. Posto silenziosissimo e rilassante. Lo consiglio vivamente. Se ne avrò l'occasione ritornerò sicuramente.

The host, Luciano, was professional and helpful. He was friendly and careful in explaining the many many features of the home. And it IS a home that has been in his family for 3 generations. All of the furniture and dishes are authentic and plentiful. Everything you need is there — a fully equipped kitchen with coffee maker and kettle, clothes washer and a stand on which to hang clothes to dry, buckets and a hose (we washed our road weary car), good quality linens and towels. Luciano's attention to detail is much appreciated. We were delighted with this lovely place and strongly recommend that you stay for a week at least. Use it as a base from which to visit Florence, Pisa, Lucca and the surrounding country. Spend some time drinking wine in the garden. Walk to the local restaurant for dinner. The website pictures are completely accurate. Just be careful driving up the main driveway — the hedge is very close and you could scratch your car!

Schneller Zugang zum vielfältigen und gepflegten Garten, verschiedene Sitzplätze, alles da von Sitzpolstern bis Grill und Fahrrädern. Einnehmend freundlicher Empfang (auch für den Hund!).
