My wife and seven-month-old son stayed in the Cardoso Holiday House for five weeks (Nov 12-Dec 22, 2013). We absolutely loved it!! The home was fully equipped with all the basic essentials and was everything we had hoped it would be. The owner, Fabio, is extremely gracious and provided anything we requested. Cardoso itself is a very enchanting medieval village with very friendly locals. The views are breathtaking, nestled into the hillside, overlooking the Tuscan valley and gorgeous mountaintop views as well. The accommodations were perfect and we will definitely be returning!! As Fabio recommended a rental car makes traveling around the countryside much easier and there is so much to see! You are only 40 minutes from Lucca and 20 minutes from Barga. We traveled to Cinqueterre (about a 2 1/2 hr drive). You can see so much of Italy within a few hour drive and return to Cardoso to sleep peacefully. For a taste of authentic Italy, we wold recommend this to all of our friends & family!

excellent views from the apartment to the mountains and the local people are really friendly,none we met spoke english and we dont speak any other language but we still managed to understand each other, great fun some times. fabio the owner seems a very nice person and is contactable anytime and is very helpful.thats the good bit. the apartment and furniture and equipment is very tired looking,it was apparently refurbed about 12 years ago and and looks like nothing has been done since.it should'nt be advertised with a garden its a weed bed.if you bring a car any bigger than a corsa dont expect to park it in the allotted space, although further parking is'nt very far its a stiff uphill trek, we were out of high season and sometimes there was'nt many spare spaces. i have put a poor result for access to property because we arrived about an hour early and could'nt have access although the property was empty and the key holder lived opposite and must have seen us sitting outside, make your own judgement on this.

We had a lovely time in Cardosa, the village was very safe and the people were very friendly, we travelled out most days and managed to visit Venice and Pisa from here, it was a long drive to Venice, but we got a full day touring. We even visited the local pool, don't forget your swim hat, it was clean and well maintained. The house was, rural Italy and we enjoyed being right in there with the locals, it was good value for money, no frills, the 4 kids had lots of fun. Back to basics but the beauty was the location, safe, friendly and lots to see in the surrounding area, a car is a must, we left our cars at the square, as it was easier to park, 2 minutes walk to the house. The kids liked playing with the local children, in the square and buying icecreams at the bar, while Mums and Dads had a nice glass of wine after a long day, with the friendly locals, without the tourist prices.

We had a nice time in Cardoso. Lovely village and great local people. Car is definitely needed to get around. House is fine - plenty of space - electricity could do with updating!. Great outside terrace which we used a lot but could do with some decent outside furniture - ie comfortable chairs. Advertised with garden which is one of the reasons we chose the house but the garden was uninhabitable and unusable which was a shame. Great house for large family or 2 families sharing (we were 2 families - sisters) but otherwise upstairs did not lend itself to privacy. We did not meet Fabio but spoke to him and felt he offered good service from start to finish. We would chose to stay again if the garden was made usable.

We had a nice time in Via Colle 1, Cardoso. The house is a nice place to stay and is provided with everything you need. The surrounding is beautiful. From the house you can easely visit places like Lucca , Pisa, Firenze and the coast.

We all liked Via Colle 1 very much! I can highly recommend this place, and Fabio, to people wanting to visit Toscana!

The house has enough place for a big family- we have 4 children. It has two bathrooms ant three bedrooms, that is great. You don´t find this everywhere. Cardoso is a very good base to discover Tuscany. And that is a lot of work!!! The owner is really friendly. Nothing is perfect, so we had complained about the cleanliness of the kitchen. He promised to change it, and I´m sure he will do it. We are still in contact. We´ll come back next year!

Great place to stay.The location is ideal for those wanting a quiet holiday in a small village. Car is essential but Cardoso is a good base for those wanting to see the beautiful Garfagnana area of Toscana.

My wife and I stayed in the Cardoso holiday house and loved every minute of the holiday. The village is beautiful and the locals are so friendly that you will feel "at home" as soon as you arrive. The house is huge and has every facility you can imagine to make your stay enjoyable and relaxing. The location is perfect for exploring Tuscany. The owner, Fabio will ensure that everything is perfect and you have all you require for your stay. So go and visit, Lucca, Pisa etc. and have the holiday of a lifetime. You will want to return !
