Just north of Alghero's marina is the Lido, also known as San Giovanni Beach. It is a 1.5 kilometer ribbon of sand and a great spot for sun-worshipers. For something even more spectacular, just 5 minutes away by car is Maria Pia Beach, a long stretch of ice-white sand fringed by fragrant pine forests. The Mediterranean is warm, crystalline, and child-friendly. Or head to nearby La Bombarde Beach, which has a lively line-up of beach bars with DJ s spinning the decks. There are several good restaurants within a few minutes walk of the apartment for those of you who don't fancy cooking in the evenings, and a selections of good supermarkets offering lovely fresh Italian produce and groceries, for the budding chefs among you. The old town is full of cobbled streets, sunny piazzas and waterfront walks is just a 20 minute walk away. Regular buses also run from Lido to the old town for those less energetic.The old town has an abundance of shops, cafes, restaurants and tourist attractions. The daily 'passeggiatta' or evening stroll - where all the locals dress up and go for the evening constitutional is a must. This all adds to the evening vibe and gets you in the mood for the rest of the night.There is a 9 hole Pitch and Putt Golf Course approx. 5 Kms away offering an inexpensive round of Golf. Kite Surfing is an activity that is on offer at Lido and San Giovanni beaches (October being the best month for this)
