My husband, our two teenaged children and I had 2 nights here in early October.
We sought proximity to the cruise port and also the railway station (it's worth noting that it was walkable to the Genoa Brignole station- but not the Genoa Principe railway station)
When I'd booked this via TripAdvisor, it was, for some reason, difficult to ascertain the exact address- it would only show as an apartment in Genoa, and the owner gave two different street numbers within the same communication.
When I'd asked for clarification I received a confusing response at the time - I put it down to language barrier, and perhaps my own inexperience at booking via TripAdvisor.
( I booked another location via TripAdvisor and the exact location came up immediately..)
I had booked 8 other venues overall with nil issues for our entire trip, and I certainly concede that there's bound to be an occasional dud, due to haste or fatigue whilst making lots of bookings within a few weeks of research, but it would have been helpful for the property manager to be a little more forthcoming about how suitable the place might be for families, for example, or for women travellers.
The location was not very central and I certainly did not like the feel of the neighbourhood.
It's a bit out of the way of things, NOT handy to shopping or restaurants, cafes etc., , and being very closely followed by an older teenaged male on a skateboard in mid afternoon was a bit troubling - as was being stared down by the drinkers in the bar downstairs from the apartments every single time we ventured out or returned.
I was not comfortable with allowing our kids to venture out on their own (or even together).
There was a washing machine which is good to have, but the clothes came out still rather sodden. There was an opened pack of biscuits in the pantry, and some sort of mystery breads in plastic, on the bench. Not known how old.
We had to ring a taxi to go to town, out to dinner or to see anywhere of interest.
