We stayed in the Red Suite for a week and it was perfect for us. Wonderful places are a short walk from the suite - the Pantheon, Largo Argentina Ruins, numerous churches with beautiful mosaics and works of art, piazzas, restaurants, cafés, gelaterias, pastry shops and there is a small supermarket just steps away.
We love to walk and there are even more places to visit just 10-15 minutes away, Campo de' Fiori, Piazza Navona and Bernini's great fountain, Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps. If you prefer to take public transportation, it is not a problem because there is a bus stop just a few steps from the suite. You can buy your bus ticket just steps away from the suite at the Tobacco Shop.
Our host Valerio met us outside the suite. We were late, but he was still there waiting. He gave us a tour, showed us the amenities in the suite and how things worked. The fridge was stocked with milk, juice, and Coke. There was a loaf a bread, some cookies, and candies on hand. Olive oil, basalmic vinegar and salt were available for food prep. There was a coffee maker and tea kettle with a supply of coffee and tea bags for use. The kitchen was equipped with dishes, glasses, mugs, silverware and pots and pans for in house food prep and dining. Valerio also provided a bottle of wine on the dining table.
Once he had showed us around the suite he explained the history of the location and its connection to his family. There were several framed photos on the wall that he referred to during his explanation.
The bed was comfortable, there were ample towels, the air conditioner worked well, the water pressure in the shower was good, and the hair dryer worked well.
In the morning I would open the window and shutters on Vittorio Emanuele and look out as Rome began to awaken. Then I would open the window and shutters on the corner of the suite, and look at the sign hanging on the building across from the suite. It reads Via dell Arco de Ginnasi and next to it there is a small circular shrine with a religious image that is barely visible now, but there is a crown over it.
If I am lucky enough to go to Rome again, I will surely stay at Suite Argentina again.
