This is our second stay in the Design Terrace Coliseum apartment. We stayed a month in 2017 and two weeks in September 2019. And, quite frankly, we can't imagine staying anywhere else in Rome should we visit again. We call the apartment our home away from home, our apartment! While the apartment is modern, spotlessly clean and well appointed and furnished, the big seller for us is the large terrace where we enjoyed breakfast every morning, lounging after our days out in the city and wine in the evenings, enjoying the stars! The apartment is literally a couple blocks from the Coliseum and other main attractions and, should you wish to travel outside the city by train - Termini Station is an easy walk. Other public transportation inclulding the subway is very convenient and close. Restaurants, bars, grocery stores, shops of all sorts are nearby. Gildas, the host of the apartment is very attentive and quick to respond to your questions and takes great care in making sure you are comfortable and have everything you need for a pleasant stay. Depending on the length of your stay, there is mid stay cleaning, scheduled only at a time convenient to you. Airport transportation to and from the apartment is easily arranged through Gildas. Don't hesitate to book!

As a couple visiting Rome for the first time, this apartment was just perfect for us. Centrally located within walking distance of almost everywhere we wanted to go. Walk out the door, down the road 50 metres, turn right and look up - and there is the Coliseum 5 mins walk away!! The apartment was clean and modern and roomy, the bed comfy, and equipped with everything we needed, and the balcony was a very welcome respite at the end of a hot day exploring, chilling out under the umbrella with a nice cold glass of wine. It's very private even through surrounded by other apartments. We really enjoyed watering the little garden too. The owner Gildas was very helpful and easily contactable and quick to respond, and Gustavo who met us was very kind and gracious. We did get a bit confused coming out of the apartment into the central area trying to find the door down to reception/street as there are quite a few doors and they all looked kind of the same, but put this down to being a bit jet-lagged after 30 hours travelling and not really with it the first couple of days. There's loads of cafe's and shops everywhere around so super convenient. We loved it, thank you Gildas.

Nice apartment right there in the middle of the historic district. Stay was pleasant, no problem. Lot of restaurants nearby many of them remain open till late

We’ve stayed in Rome 12 years in a row and this was the best equipped and best shower we have ever had. A/C kept the apartment cool even in August. The terrace is beautiful and quiet. And communications with the owner and manager were superb- clear and helpful.

Situé en plein cœur de la Rome antique, à deux pas du Colisée, cet appartement est très agréable, lumineux, fonctionnel et surtout conforme aux photos!!! Le salon se fermant complètement fait office de 2ème chambre ce qui a permis à notre fille de 11 ans d'avoir son intimité tout comme nous, La terrasse est une pièce à vivre supplémentaire, c'est super ce petit coin de verdure en plein centre ville. C'était une première pour nous et nous n'étions pas sereins, mais nous ne sommes vraiment pas déçus. A refaire donc !! Thomas et Valérie

Just back from a week staying here and missing it already. Loved everything especially the terrace, great for having breakfast on and sitting out in the evening with a glass of wine. Location couldn't be better, walked everywhere apart from St Peters square, for this we took the Cavour metro to Termini and changed to line a then on to St Peters Square. Lots of lovely restaurants all around and plenty takeaways and shops. Gustavo met us and was really nice and he helped us when we were leaving to get a taxi to the airport. Anytime we needed to contact Gildas we got a response really quickly. Would highly recommend this apartment if you are going to Rome.

Great location and charming apartment! Loved the cleanliness and terrace! What an amazing way to experience Rome as if a local!!!! The owner is very helpful in every way!!!!

We were very much looking forward to staying in Gilda's apartment to celebrate my 40th birthday and had booked the flights, (9 months in advance) based on the check in time of midday stated when booked and on all information provided. On arrival at the airport we made contact with Sara as arranged who told us check in was 2pm and the apartment would not be ready until that time. We'd had an extremely long day and weren't eager to explore Rome with all our luggage. We had already pre-booked an airport transfer (with Gilda's help) and arrived at the apartment for 1:40pm. Thankfully Sara allowed us to sit out on the terrace until the apartment was ready, this wasn't until 2:30pm however. We raised the check in time with Gilda who said that it was a recent change, and would amend the details for future guests, which, to be fair she did whilst we were there. First the positives; The location of the apartment is central and absolutely ideal for exploring Rome on foot. The Colosseum is less than 7 minutes walk away and restaurants and shops are in a close proximity The apartment had all the amenities we needed. The washing machine and dish washer were well appreciated The terrace was a lovely addition although the available seating has been reduced from the published photos The apartment complex was overall quiet, and secure and the lifts were an added bonus to help us with our luggage Gilda was very helpful and responsive to messages and provided useful local knowledge on where to shop, eat and visit in the local area. Unfortunately the negatives; The apartment was listed as having air conditioning, this was described on both the welcome information in the apartment and by Sara when we arrived. We tried to follow the written instructions on how to operate however the description of what we should do didn't correlate with what we saw we could do We asked Gilda about the air conditioning control to be told that it had not yet been turned on centrally within the complex. As temperatures started to climb as this was a hot bank holiday in Rome the air conditioning would have been a well used. We were out exploring a lot of the time so it wasn't an option to leave windows and doors open when we weren't there The seating on the terrace did not match the published images. We had been hoping we would both be able to enjoy the terrace whilst laying on separate couches, this was not the case however. There was one couch and one metal bench, which in the heat was not practical to be used There was a lot of storage of personal items in the bedroom, including a locked part of the wardrobe which limited available space The art work, whilst original, was not to our particular taste. We did not feel the placement of the unusual faces in the bedroom was well thought out, or the slightly morose images in the lounge reflected the otherwise cheerful environment The bed unfortunately was unclean, not particularly comfortable and we had to use two cushions from the lounge as additional pillows The overall cleanliness was not as we had anticipated. There was a used cotton bud in the bathroom, dust and fluff in the bedroom and the fridge smelt musty The freezer drawers contained packaged food which limited the space available for our use. Overall these negatives did not dampen our stay. They are merely points to be considered for future guests. We feel that given the misinformation for check in time and the lack of air conditioning, which had been advertised, means this cannot be a 5 star rating.

This charming apartment was in the delightful Monti neighborhood. One enters through a large set of doors into a courtyard where the apartment is accessed from another entrance. Two elevators make it possible to avoid stairs. It is a good sized unit with nice character. The owner has nicely displayed original art displayed on the walls. The terrace is large and lovely and was an awesome place to have a midday break on. We found it very comfortable and quiet (aside from the seagulls:). One thing we missed; there was not a dining area or table to sit down and eat at. There was a table on the terrace, but that only worked for the sunny midday. The proximity of this apartment to sights was amazing. 10 min. to the Coliseum, 5 to the edge of the Roman Forum, 15 min to Trevi Fountain. No overly touristy feeling in the neighborhood which was most appreciated. Gildas, the owner, was very responsive and helpful. His tips on local sights and food were great! He booked us a car for our departure at 5AM.

I stayed for nearly two weeks with two others and would come back in a heartbeat! It is hard to imagine that the apartment location in the "lost in time" Monti neighborhood could be surpassed. The streets are cobbled and filled with small, interesting shops, wine bars and trattorias, and yet we were literally just steps away from the Forum, Colosseum and majestic remnants of Imperial Rome. Every night, residents gathered around the fountain in the little piazza just down the street from the apartment to meet, talk, laugh, drink a little beer or wine, just as if it was a neighborhood block party - which is what it was of course. The friendly neighbors included all shapes and sizes: octogenarians, little children, dogs and dog walkers, students. Sitting in the little cafe fronting the piazza and watching life's passing parade was magical. The apartment owner, Gildas, should be very proud of his lovely, lively apartment. He was responsive to every request and question. I just loved staying in this wonderful place!
