The apartment was immaculate. Every thing we could possibly need was provided for. Beds and linen first class. Luigi and Eva were on hand when we did have a couple of problems (Our fault, not theirs )
Melrose is a super little town. No need to shop anywhere else. Fantastic butchers, bakery, fresh fish and vegetables. Lots of places to eat too. From coffee/ tea rooms, to lovely restaurants,,all different, and all good. We ate at Monte Cassino twice. This is the Italian restaurant, owned by Luigi,s family. Suberb !
I must also say, the people of Melrose are utterly delightful.I had forgotten a pair of knitting needles, so went to buy some more. There were none in stock,of the size I required, and the lady who was serving me, gave me her own !
Having been very ill this year, I could not do a lot of sight seeing, but there are lots of places within a 20 mile radius to visit. Beautiful country side.
The only down side for us, there are stairs up to the apartment. My husband is 83, and at the moment I have impaired walking ability. However , Luigi did help us with our luggage on arrival.
