The cottage is at the top of Ambleside within a 2 minute walk of the main shopping, pubs and restaurants. Yet it is a very quite location as you dont know its there and you will not get anyone driving past if they dont live near by. The location is perfect for the start of some great walks on the flat or more ambitious. We were there for 5 nights, having to leave early for return to school, and only used the car once as the family was not feeling like another walk !!.
The cottage is well equipped whether it is cooking or playing games that you want to do with your evenings. The only note is that the scrabble is missing a "b" !! not that it effected my score too much to be honest.
It is well finished and maintained. The bathrooms and the kitchen are modern and there is a huge amount of hot water. The sitting room is nice and cosy and from the right seat you can see the top of Wansfell Pike. Other windows afford views of Ambleside, Loughrigg fell and the Langdales.
A note on the steep access road. It is steep. Parking outside the property for one car was not an issues for us. We have a Jaguar F Pace which easily fit the gap and could be parked close enough to the property so as not to block the road for other users.

Location, Location, Location
We have enjoyed two years consecutively at this cottage at new year and the Location is amazing in the heart of Ambleside, stones throw from our favourite pubs Unicorn and Golden Rule. The accommodation is lovely and the beds very comfortable my daughter never wants to leave. For children and adults their are plenty of board games in the cottage and DVDs. The day is obviously not complete without a trip to my son's favourite rock and dinosaur shop.

lovely, clean, homely cottage with great amenities.
Our first impression of the cottage on entering was it was very clean, comfortable and warm. it had great amenities and two large bathrooms,also great location close to shops, pubs, restaurants and a bakery which had lovely fresh sourdough bread every morning. it is also very central for some lovely walks. we'll visit again.

Lovely
Great cottage, fab location!! We did several walks from the front door which was great. We've even ended up buying the knife sharpener that was in the kitchen.

Fantastic Cottage in great location
Cottage is to a very high standard with two large modern bathrooms. Very comfortable for our party of 6 adults. The location is also second to none, close to Ambleside restaurants and pubs but quiet at night. The Golden Rule pub is a 5 minute walk away and what a pub great beers and no music!
Walking from the doorstep for the week ranging from short walks to Sweden bridges to long with Fairfield horseshoe all at doorstep.
We had a great time and will come back again!

Very comfortable and well equipped cottage.
The cottage is ideally situated very close to the centre of Ambleside as well as being the starting point for both long and short walks without the need of a car. Car parking near or outside the cottage was no problem. We did make use of the free car parking pass available with the cottage which was useful. The house was warm with plenty of hot water and good cooking facilities.

Perfect winter break
Stayed in Argyle Cottage for a week in February - crisp and cold outside, a great base for walking with the snow capped peaks creating a wonderful backdrop. Lovely and cosy cottage especially with the log burning stove. Cottage had everything you need for a self catering holiday with lovely comfy beds. Ambleside's shops and pubs are right on the doorstep but the cottage its tucked away from the hustle and bustle. Everything spot on - will be back. Thanks

Great family cottage
Stayed at Argyle cottage with family,cottage is traditional but has been tastefully modernised,and is warm and cosy. The 2 separate bathrooms work much better with 6 people than having one en suite.
Location is great only a short walk down hill into Ambleside village where there are plenty of shops,pubs and restaurants/coffee shops.2 nice pubs just around the corner.
Well stocked Tesco's local in village,Booths in Windermere and Keswick should you require more.
Possible to do walks from the door saves using the car.

Well located, comfortable base in beautiful Lakeland
Great location, up a bit of a hill but quick walk into the village. Check out Stockgyll Deli for tasty Eccles cakes and great pies. Book for dinner. Know how to use your car handbrake as you will need it to park outside the cottage. Check out the Beatrux Potter exhibition at the Armitt Museum.
