My husband and I spent the last 5 weeks in Yurt 3. It was a slice of heaven literally. The yurt has everything one needs for a wonderful stay. Shawna has made some great upgrades to the yurt since we were here last. New palapa roof, beautiful new very comfortable side couch cushions, this served as a good spot to sleep if we needed a little space from each other. Shawna also provided 2 backpack Beach chairs and an umbrella. Every morning we popped them on our backs and zipped down to the beach to watch the sunrise. Having a washer available was an added benefit so you really can keep the packing to a minimum. The kitchen has all you need coffee pot dishes, sharp knives, pots, two burner stove. You can cook or head out to Los Barriles for some yummy shrimp tacos(my favorite). The bed is new and comfy warm blankets and beautiful new towels were provided. The tub outside is another added benefit the natural hot springs and healing waters of spa can wash away any stress, aches or pains can dissipate with a delicious soak. I really can’t say enough about this destination, you will love the peace.
Oh yes a couple other thoughts. This is a place of peace. The yurts are close to each other if you are a strong talker others will hear you. Being mindful of this was important to me. This is not a party scene experience although if you like that you can pop over to Buena Vista Hotel, it’s a shot walk and they have happy hours , music on some night and a restaurant you can grab a bite to eat at.

Fantastic getaway!
We spent the last 2 nights of our weeklong trip here and wished we had spent the entirety. The yurts have everything you need, the soaker tubs are an incredible treat, and the beach and sea are pristine! Its close enough to town to access all your needs but located in a fantastically quiet spot.

Excellent stay !
This is the second time we stayed at the yurts.
It is basic accommodations but has everything you need and is very clean. We enjoy the view and quiet neighbourhood. John is very quick to respond.

Wonderful place to stay.
Everything about this place is great. Close to the beach and town. Perfect for a couple on a romantic getaway.

Simple life!!
Very cool & rustic!! No A.c. but who cares you can walk to the beach if you need to cool off go for a swim in the beautiful sea of Cortez, did I say in August it's HOT But there almost no people on beach paradise, loved it:))

So fun, we brought friends for our return trip
The memory of a simple and relaxing break near the beach was so strong, we booked all four yurts for Christmas week. The friends who came were accustomed to backpacking and camping, so found the amenities at the yurts perfect for an easy getaway in winter - no having to haul gear other than fishing rods, stand up paddle boards, and beach toys.
We cooked one simple meal a day and ate out the other meals. Our fridges kept all our drinks and food cold for the beach. We used our tubs for our daily rinse and didn't use the showers much (those who know how to use the South American showerheads with heating elements inside them will feel right at home).
John was a generous host. Again, sharing his knowledge and sense of deep appreciation for the area. Pepe was the handyman and groundskeeper who kept the grounds clean, orderly, and handsome. They quickly resolved any issues that arose.
If you have a car, daytrips to El Triunfo, Cabo Pulmo, the waterfalls near Santiago and grocery runs and meals in Los Barriles are very easy.
We had some friends stay next door at the Buena Vista Hotel - they enjoyed having pools, a restaurant, and more resort-like amenities. We were able to join them for happy hour and a dinner, but were always happy to return to our fun and funky (in a good way) yurts. Many of us have vowed to return in future years.

Nice place!
I wold definitely stay here again. The owners were very nice and even had 2 beers waiting for us in the fridge! They also gave us a great recommendation for a place to eat nearby. The hot tub just outside our yurt was fantastic!

Could not be better
We stayed in yurt #3 for 19 nights late Februaryto mid March, and loved every minute of it. We did not have a car and managed fine, At the top of the road ( a 5 minute walk from the yurts) is a bus that runs a few times a day to Los Barriles and back. We rented an ATV at the hotel right next to the yurts, they were delivered to and picked up from the hotel. Very convenient and easy, Delivery was about 10 US dollars. Spa Buena Vista is a lovely peaceful safe place. The local people are extremely friendly and open. There is a small locally owned shop which carries necessaries and a bit more. Seafood, meat and fish we got from Los Barriles.
We can not say enough about the location of the yurts, from waking up walking for a minute to the beach and watching the sun rise with a fresh cup of coffee, or sitting just outside our door on the stone benches watching the rays jumping in the near by sea, to watching the moon rise while going for an evening beach stroll.
we woke up to the sounds of many different birds singing and sitting in the near by trees and flowering aloes.
the yurts themselves are well equipped, maybe not every gadget you may wish you had, but more than enough to cook or BBQ fresh fish and seafood. There is a good size fridge, toaster, coffee maker, two burner gas stove top and outside BBQ grill. Plenty of space for your gear, towels, bed linen, and warm blankets.
We never tired of long walks on the beach, hanging out and swimming. Walking down the beach to a set of palapas for shade all to our selves. There were turtle nest marked and waiting to hatch, Manta rays jumping out of the water day and night. We had red-headed woodpeckers and Orioles sitting right outside our door.
The hotel next door is a good place to use on a windy day, if you have lunch there you can use the pool with a hot tub which is protected form the wind. You can book many different activities through them as well including fishing trips.
We took the bus to La Paz 160 pesos one way, for snorkeling with whale sharks.
I would recommend staying here, yes a car would be nice but not necessary to enjoy it all.

Private, economical accomodations
Stayed here for 2 nights in early February 2017. The place was clean and well-maintained. As others have mentioned, it's a bit awkward to have only a small partial enclosure around the toilet. If you're not staying there alone, the only way to get any real privacy is to boot your partner out of the place. That said...it's not a big deal. A couple of previous guests mentioned insect problems, so we arrived with an insect net for the bed. We had no problems at all. Two comments: 1. Make sure you get good , detailed instructions as to location of this place. It's not especially easy to find. 2. The beach is a short walk from the yurts. It's not "on the doorstep". Probably more like 300 yards away. All in all , a nice place to stay if you don't need fancy accommodations.

Great simple lodging in a quiet community on the Sea of Cortez
We spent two nights over new year and were lucky enough to meet the owner John. He was personable and close by but gave all the guests plenty of privacy. The yurts were simply appointed and tidy. Having spent a different new year on the Sea of Cortez camping, this was pretty deluxe. We could cook on the two-burner stove out of the wind and even check our email with fast wifi. We could bathe and use the facilities behind a thick wall behind our bed.
What made our stay especially wonderful were the hot tubs for each yurt. While we had to make sure we drew the tub by 6ish in the evening, it was no problem. It was nice to be able to wash off the salt water, look at the stars, and have a beer before making or going to dinner.
If you are expecting the Ritz and if using bins for your toilet paper (many places in Baja have fragile septic systems) grosses you out, this is not the place for you. If hearing your travelmate shower or use the loo grosses you out, this is not the place for you. If interesting local construction and having access to a lovely beach and sea in a quiet part of the world appeals, you've come to the right place.
