Gorgeous gite in a lovely part of France
We had a great week staying at Maison de La Roche. From booking to throughout our stay, Honor was on hand, available and the perfect host. Her information booklet provided lots of super days out close by. The gite was beautifully furnished and comfortable and the grounds and pool just added to this. We certainly appreciated the shady spots.
Walking across the river bridge, for our daily delicious boulangerie visit, we spotted a turtle and otter.
Bigger supermarkets were just minutes away too.
We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend ⭐️

It was maybe a bit too quiet for us. A car is needed as very little about it the town.
The accommodation was all it said it was. Large and bright. Very quiet. The host was very friendly and provided a welcome pack for our arrival

Ill take that all as a compliment. Thank you Andrew. Yes we definitely recommend a car always. Ferrals is a tiny village although it does boast three eateries , a Boulangerie and an amazing art gallery. It’s definitely no city but there are often fan fetes going on in the summer to keep us entertained

Highly Recommend!
We’ve just returned from our second stay at Maison de la Roche and loved it even more than the first!
There’s so much to say about why this makes a great family holiday - the location is perfect being in the middle of a small village, but a short drive to various beautiful beaches and bigger towns and attractions. We especially loved Leucate Beach, Lagrasse and the Frenzy WaterPark (well, my teenage boys liked the Waterpark anyway….)
The host (Honor) is brilliant, full of recommendations and tips, and always on hand if you need advice. The accommodation is lovely, well equipped and traditional in style with a beautiful private pool in a shady walled garden - ideal when the temperature gets up to 35+!
I’m sure we’ll be back for a third visit soon.

Wonderful stay
We had a truly fantastic time at Maison de la Roche. The gite had everything we needed even including picnic and beach equipment! It made travelling with 2 young children really easy - especially the fully stocked playroom! Pool was beautiful and Honor was a fantastic host full of helpful recommendations.

Wonderful stay!
We had a super stay with Honor in May half term. We were 2 families travelling together so the 2 gites worked perfectly for us. The gites are spacious, well-equipped and really comfortable. We were travelling with kids who adored the fully stocked playroom and the trampoline, as well as the beautiful pool of course!
The grounds of Maison de La Roche are stunning and you do really feel you are in “proper” France. Honor made various excellent recommendations of things to do when we were there, including a fun day at the beach, a trip to a local beautiful village with a lovely market and great restaurant suggestions. My only wish is that we’d had time to do more!

What a brilliant place to stay!
What a brilliant place to stay!
It is always a good sign when you come back from a holiday and cannot think of anything that you would have changed, and so it was with us after our week at Jardin Violet, Maison de la Roche. Easily accessible from one of a number of airports (we flew in to Carcassonne) and less than an hour later we were unpacking in our lovely clean, comfortable and well equipped gite and working out when to make first use of the swimming pool. Honor our fantastic host was on hand to let us in to her secure front yard and give us loads of information about Ferrals les Corbieres and the local area. Perhaps the most important bit was the location of the village boulangerie, a short walk away on the other side of the river and somewhere we found ourselves daily. Jardin Violet is a lovely gite in the middle of a beautiful area with lots to do, be it mountains. markets and castles or vinyards and the beach. Equally I could see it being a great location for someone that wants to do very little. Would I like to go back? Absolutely!

Authentic France!
I stayed in the secret cottage at the end of August with my husband and 3 children. Honor kindly offered to add a day bed In the children's room. It was snug, but they loved it!
Honor was there to meet us when we arrived, (earlier than planned!) With a fresh loaf, Camambert, and wine on ice!
The cottage itself is beautiful and traditional, with the pool and trampoline just around the corner.
As others have mentioned, the boulangerie is just up the road in the local village and its a slippery slope of daily pastries for breakfast!
Best bits
- Honor's Bible of places to see and visit. We took it everywhere and honestly wouldn't have found half the spots without it!
- mornings in the garden with pastries and sunshine
- the little playroom full of toys, books and fancy dress!
- Chez Bebe- restaurant in the village
- meeting other guests staying in the apartments
- Honor herself. Nothing was too much. A truly generous host
Things to consider
- you really do need a car. Honor did tell us this but I didn't appreciate just how much there is to see in the surrounding regions, and everything is 30mins away.

Holiday to Remember
Our family of 12 spent an idyllic week at Maison de la Roche - utilising all 3 comfortable gites. With such high temperatures the swimming pool was so welcome after a morning of exploring the many local areas suggested by Honor - a week could not really do the area justice - one day we will return. Super friendly and hospitable - made for a relaxing stay for the whole range of ages in our group. Many thanks for a memorable holiday.

A little gem in the south of France.
We had a fantastic time staying in the Secret Garden Cottage, what a gem in beautiful, rural, southern France. It has everything you need - comfy bed, spotlessly clean, beautiful bathroom, plenty of space both inside and out, gorgeous pool with plenty of sunbeds both in the sun and shade, a well equipped kitchen and bbq. Honor has thought of everything.
Lots to see and do locally and great beach clubs on the long, sandy beaches. We ate out in the village a couple of times, which was excellent plus a couple of BBQs. The boulangerie is a very short walk away for your daily baguettes and croissants.
Honor is a fantastic host, always there if we had any questions and lots of personal recommendations on places to see and where to eat.

Lovely gite for a week
Spent a really wonderful week here with our daughter. Really comfortable and clean gite. Everything worked perfectly and Honor was super helpful with tips on where to go and what to do. If only every morning consisted of a little trip across the river to pick up delicious croissants and a dip in the pool! Highly recommend!
