What a brilliant place to stay!
It is always a good sign when you come back from a holiday and cannot think of anything that you would have changed, and so it was with us after our week at Jardin Violet, Maison de la Roche. Easily accessible from one of a number of airports (we flew in to Carcassonne) and less than an hour later we were unpacking in our lovely clean, comfortable and well equipped gite and working out when to make first use of the swimming pool. Honor our fantastic host was on hand to let us in to her secure front yard and give us loads of information about Ferrals les Corbieres and the local area. Perhaps the most important bit was the location of the village boulangerie, a short walk away on the other side of the river and somewhere we found ourselves daily. Jardin Violet is a lovely gite in the middle of a beautiful area with lots to do, be it mountains. markets and castles or vinyards and the beach. Equally I could see it being a great location for someone that wants to do very little. Would I like to go back? Absolutely!

Authentic France!
I stayed in the secret cottage at the end of August with my husband and 3 children. Honor kindly offered to add a day bed In the children's room. It was snug, but they loved it!
Honor was there to meet us when we arrived, (earlier than planned!) With a fresh loaf, Camambert, and wine on ice!
The cottage itself is beautiful and traditional, with the pool and trampoline just around the corner.
As others have mentioned, the boulangerie is just up the road in the local village and its a slippery slope of daily pastries for breakfast!
Best bits
- Honor's Bible of places to see and visit. We took it everywhere and honestly wouldn't have found half the spots without it!
- mornings in the garden with pastries and sunshine
- the little playroom full of toys, books and fancy dress!
- Chez Bebe- restaurant in the village
- meeting other guests staying in the apartments
- Honor herself. Nothing was too much. A truly generous host
Things to consider
- you really do need a car. Honor did tell us this but I didn't appreciate just how much there is to see in the surrounding regions, and everything is 30mins away.

Holiday to Remember
Our family of 12 spent an idyllic week at Maison de la Roche - utilising all 3 comfortable gites. With such high temperatures the swimming pool was so welcome after a morning of exploring the many local areas suggested by Honor - a week could not really do the area justice - one day we will return. Super friendly and hospitable - made for a relaxing stay for the whole range of ages in our group. Many thanks for a memorable holiday.

A little gem in the south of France.
We had a fantastic time staying in the Secret Garden Cottage, what a gem in beautiful, rural, southern France. It has everything you need - comfy bed, spotlessly clean, beautiful bathroom, plenty of space both inside and out, gorgeous pool with plenty of sunbeds both in the sun and shade, a well equipped kitchen and bbq. Honor has thought of everything.
Lots to see and do locally and great beach clubs on the long, sandy beaches. We ate out in the village a couple of times, which was excellent plus a couple of BBQs. The boulangerie is a very short walk away for your daily baguettes and croissants.
Honor is a fantastic host, always there if we had any questions and lots of personal recommendations on places to see and where to eat.

Lovely gite for a week
Spent a really wonderful week here with our daughter. Really comfortable and clean gite. Everything worked perfectly and Honor was super helpful with tips on where to go and what to do. If only every morning consisted of a little trip across the river to pick up delicious croissants and a dip in the pool! Highly recommend!

Wonderful week in the Languedoc
We spent a wonderful week at Maison de la Roche - it is ideally situated to explore so much of the under-appreciated region. Honor is a wealth of local information and on her recommendation we found some of the best rivers, beaches and restaurants. The gites and the swimming pool in particular are very well maintained and are a great place to chill out. My daughter particularly enjoyed exploring the play room. A highlight of the holiday was attending the local village fete with Honor and the other guests - we felt like we really experienced authentic French culture. We will be back for sure - next time for 2 weeks!

Charming gite in a secret garden
We waited three long years to holiday at maison de La Roche … all pushed back due to covid and passport delays ! It was all we hoped for … the gite we stayed in was charming , extremely well equipped, loads of information , pleasant outdoor seating and a lovely shaded and sunny pool …. Bread wine and cheese on arrival really hit the spot after Ryan Air !! The honesty bar was a total hit as the selected wines were excellent and good value …
We swam in the river, ate locally spent the day at the beach and a wine tasting, flea market and listened to piano recital in Lagrasse .. as well as time chilling by the pool and got in some runs along the river
Honor is the perfect host with loads of suggestions , we even attended the village bastille day fete which was wonderful
Highly recommend …

Great place, great location, amazing host!
I stayed in Maison de la Roche recently for a week. This was my second visit and again, it did not disappoint. The location is really good, you are near lovely villages, the canal du midi, the beach, gorgeous towns and the iconic Carcassonne! But not only that. The gites are lovely, we stayed with a small group of friends and I was in the Secret garden gite. The pool was beautiful, the local bakery covered all our breakfast needs (a lovely walk over the bridge and only 7 minutes away). The host, Honor, is such a lovely, charismatic person, an amazing personality and a beautiful soul. We made a friend for life. We will return, thank you Honor!!

Amazing place to stay and relax
I recently had the pleasure of staying in one of Honor’s beautiful gîtes. Love the decor and the way it’s been renovated - especially the bathroom! Great pool area and ‘ secret garden’. Would highly recommend

Charmant séjour à Ferrais
Nous avons séjourné en famille dans le Secret Garden Cottage et avons été bien accueillis par Honor malgré notre arrivée tardive, et avons bénéficié de ses conseils et de son aide au long de notre séjour. Le gîte est très confortable (mention spéciale pour la literie!), bien équipé et décoré d’objets chinés par Honor dans les environs. Même si le beau temps n’était pas au rendez-vous lors de notre séjour, nous pensons que ce logement doit être frais et agréable par temps chaud. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié de pouvoir faire un barbecue sur la terrasse. Le lieu est kids friendly (terrain clos, barrière de sécurité, jouets à disposition et prêt de matériel bébé) ce qui est un vrai plus pour nous qui voyageons avec de jeunes enfants. Autre plus: la localisation et la proximité des grands axes qui vous permettra de rayonner dans les environs (Carcassonne, plages entre Narbonne et Perpignan, corbières et minervois…).
