We spent 4 days in the Golfinho apartment. The location is great: beach view, short walk from breakfast places (eg Dolce Vita and Erica's -- highly recommended) and from Sal Rei's centre and all the restaurants there. The beach is just a few mins away. The apartment is spacious and well-appointed, with one double and three single beds, and (we think) a sofa-bed.
The kitchen comes with everything needed in terms of utensils etc. The bathroom is very nice and well-designed.
The apartment has a balcony with a couple of sun loungers, but the best place to sit is the communal roof-terrace. When we were there, we saw no-one else up there. It was great. There's a shower, bbq, jacuzzi (which we didn't use -- the sea was only minutes away!), sunloungers, cushions and big padded seats. There was also a dining area up there. It was also a great place to star-gaze. There's a nice view of the beach and sea from up there too.
Ayana was a great host and arranged two tours for us at short notice: whale watching (half-day, 60EUR each) and a private tour of the south of Boa Vista (half-day, 80EUR for two). Although our primary purpose was relaxation for this holiday, Ayana's wealth of knowledge about the island revealed to us that there was much to do, and we hope to return in the future to more fully explore the beautiful island of Boa Vista. For example: windsurf, kitesurf, snorkel, visit the less-touristic, more traditional, east of the island.
On practicalities: the wifi was good. We experienced no power outages during our stay. The 1 tonne/pp water 'allowance' was perfectly manageable and we accrued no extra charges, by taking care. For reference, the cost of water in the UK is about £1.30/tonne (Thames Water). Escudos and Euros are accepted everywhere but payment in Euros tends (except where prices are quoted exclusively in Euros) to attract a 10% effective fee. So change into Escudos to save money! Ayana told us about this on the first day.
Boa Vista, and Sal Rei in particular, is clearly in the grip of a tourism and housing boom, and there's a huge amount of construction work going on. Don't be put off! Visit now :)
