Peaceful, spacious, bright and airy house ... spectacular sea and mountain views from inside sun-room and from patio, just 15 minute walk / 2 minute drive to the popular seaside destination of Ballinskelligs, with it’s spectacular blue flag beach.
STAR WARS fan or not ... book an an unforgettable boat trip to visit the Skellig Michael (UNESCO World Heritage Site) Licenced craft suitably named "The Force Awakens" departs from Reen Pier Ballinskelligs (5 minute drive). The SkelligMichael island was the central location for "The Force Awakens" and set to play a large part in the "Last Jedi" movie.
Local activities include beach, horse riding, loop walks (from house), mountain walks, angling and shore fishing. There is a local Shop, Pub & Restaurant only 2 minutes drive away and located beside the Ballinskelligs beach. In the prime Summer period, you can enjoy unique and traditional Irish music at the local pub looking out at the ocean. Great walking in all directions from the house including the stunning Bolus Head Barracks Looped Walk (Skellig .. walk as far as you like .. full loop from house takes you from Suan to Bolus Head via Boolakeel, past the Kilrealig Artists Retreat crossing over Bolus Head via Barracks and then onwards towards Finian's Bay via Duchalla and the US Navy Liberator Commemoration Monument then turning right heading back towards Ballinskelligs and Suan. (Grade Moderate, 10 miles or 16km)
A 5 minutes drive up the road, is the renowned "Skelligs Chocolate Factory" which is located within the Skelligs Ring, voted in The Lonely Planet's Top 10 Regions to visit in 2017. Visitors are always welcome to come and see the Award-Winning chocolates being made, taste the freshly made treats from their chocolatiers while learning all about chocolate.
Next to the chocolate factory is Finians Bay, a popular beach for surfing known locally as The Glen ... check out The Driftwood Cafe
Only a 15 minutes drive away is Waterville, where the famous Charlie Chaplain and family visited regularly you will find two world renowned links golf courses, "Waterville Golf Link Course" and the recently voted Ireland's best new golf course - "Hogg's Head Golf Course", both world class links course attracting golfers from all over the world.
Visit Valentia, Portmagee via the Skellig Ring (brown signs) .. beautiful and historical area (20 minutes drive) enriched by fishing tradition, visit Knighstown with its excellent historical heritage centre .. tells the story of first internet of its time, the laying of the first trans-Atlantic cable and undersea communications dating back to 1850 .. lots of history maybe some links to your own family tree!. Beautiful scenery and amazing food especially the fresh fish caught from the fishermen boats, people travel from far to visit. Check out magnificient Bray Head Loop Walk (turn left after bridge from Portmagee onto Valentia Island) is a fantastic walk with panoramic views of the area including magnificient views of the Skelligs, Valentia, Portmagee Harbour.
