Set in a walled garden giving seclusion and quiet, yet convenient for local sights and attractions and opposite a very good pub. Nicely furnished and tastefully decorated, highly recommended.

My husband and I would highly recommend Poundgate Park Cottage. The cottage is an excellent location in the heart of the Ashdown Forest. It’s located an hour train ride to London and a 30 minute drive to the southeast coast. A convenient bus stop is near the cottage with stops all the way to Brighton. We had an extended stay and totally enjoyed our time in Crowborough. The owners, Liesha and Mahmet Yaz were the perfect hosts. They are present when needed but invisible when not. There are wonderful restaurants, pubs and shopping in the area. We will never forget our stay in the cottage with our two dogs.

We had a very comfortable stay at Poundgate Cottage, especially the bed. The secluded garden was magic and made exercising our dog a treat. Liesha, the owner, was very helpful and nothing too much trouble. We visitd Leeds Castle, Hever Castle, Battle of Hastings site and Brighton, all within easy distance. Good weather as well!

We wanted to relax and spoil our elderly mother with limited mobility. We also needed to accommodate our young Jack Russell, the grounds are amazing just a shame that he could have gained access to very busy main road, purchased a spike and managed to contain him on lead. Perfect forest walk accessed through pub car park opposite. Had Sunday Roast which thoroughly recommend. Although adjacent to owner's property we were not disturbed. Tunbridge Wells was great and plan to visit again. Would stay at Poundgate Park cottage again truly is home from home lots of finer details have been thought of. The Poundgate cottage is a lovely place. Hidden from the main A road behind a sweet wooden door entering the walled garden, you feel like you are In walking into the 'secret garden'. From the lounge/kitchen you can access the decking via lovely big doors which brings the outside in and give easy access to take your meals outside. Breakfast was particularly lovely outside. The decking over looks the beautiful apple tree on your own private lawn. The only problem by the end if the week was the traffic noise for me (that's why I rated location 4). The rest of the garden is the owners but you are very welcome to walk around it, exploring the wooded area at the bottom and saying hello to the ducks on the pond. The cottage is beautifully decorated, has an amazing shower, comfy beds for a holiday home (although our teenagers found the memory form mattresses a bit sinky on the single beds). The owner also leaves lots of cleaning materials, toilet rolls, kitchen paper, tea towels, bath towels, tea and coffee (including ground as there is a cafeteria!!) all for you to use. They is also a hair drier.....so, unlike ourselves you don't need to bring much at all. There is scrabble, and three other games as well as a pack of cards and the great thing was lots if DVDs and and some books. DVDs were a good selection to suit all tastes including family and kids films. The owner was very friendly and helpful and text half way through the week to see if she could get us anything. Liesha and her family live just next door. The area is a lovely place with a really great pub over the road, friendly staff and good food. 3 super markets in Crowborough (7min drive) with lovely Waitrose with cafe which was great as we arrived a bit early. There are many other shops and coffee shops here. We only did the Pooh Bear trail in Ashdown Forest and found Pooh Bear Corner cafe and shop which was great value and then the fabulous Brighton. However, if you have more time there are lots of other places to explore. It was a lovely week and particularly if weather was dry a lovely place for every season.

A long overdue review of this lovely cottage we stayed at in Nov 2014. We travelled to the UK to visit our daughter who was at that time on her OE in London. Having lived in London for a number of years in the 80's and also as fans of "'Escape to the Country"we decided to only spend a couple of nights in London and for the rest of our time to base ourselves in the English countryside. What a delight - coming from Australia there is nothing to compare with the English countryside and this particular area opposite the "hundred acre wood"of Winnie the Pooh fame is fabulous, with plenty of rambling walks and beautiful vistas. The cottage itself lived up to it's photos. Lovely interior, two bedrooms, great bathroom and the kitchen and laundry facilities were fantastic to have whilst travelling. Travelling in a cold November having come from a Gold Coast summer, we were extremely appreciative of how cosy the heating kept the cottage. The setting behind a large wall kept the road noise away and the garden surroundings were perfect. Liesha was lovely to deal with and even despite changing dates a couple of times as our plans changed was extremely accommodating. From here we spent days sightseeing on trips to Brighton, Tunbridge Wells, Hever Castle and across to Stonehenge - through the greatest delight was just driving and discovering quaint little towns and historic homes. Crowborough the nearby town had all the facilities we needed for day to day living, with a good Waitrose and other stores and many lovely little pubs to while away a few hours. There is a pub "The Crow and Gate" directly across from the cottage for the nights when we didn't want to venture to far. The week we spent in Poundgate Cottage really made as feel like we experienced our own little slice of English countryside and I would highly recommend.

The cottage itself is great. Nice bathroom, good ktichen and it was clean. The only thing i did not like about the interior was the size of the double bed. As i am 1,92 meter tall it was too short and rather narrow too. Luckily there are two single beds which me tied together and we slept good. We brought our dog (Border Terrier) and he loved to play in the garden. The garden is only partly enclosed by a wall and rabbits, squirrels and pheasants visit the garden so you have to keep your dog in sight all of the time or tie the dog to a long line. That was not what we expected. In front of the house and behind the garden wall is a very busy road where cars drive at least 50 mph. I crossed that road twice a day to walk the dog in the forrest and i didn't enjoy the crossing.

I stayed for a week in July 2015 at Poundgate Park Cottage with my mother and a friend. This rental is now in the top two of my all time favorite rentals in England. Although off a busy A road the cottage is set behind a brick garden wall. Coming through the gate door the cottage entry is about 60' down a gravel path, so noise from the road was never an issue. The grounds are lovely and you feel secluded and apart from the world. There is an double glass door leading form the kitchen,dining, living area to a decked eating area overlooking the grounds, just lovely for a meal or to enjoy the surroundings. As an overseas visitor linens and bath towels, nice large ones, being provided are a big plus. In unit laundry facilities were also very convenient and a big plus. The only negative for us were we think the mattresses need to be changed. My friend in the double thought it rather lumpy and mine had a distinct slant to it. If not for this issue I would have given an "Excellent" rating. Otherwise a great property which I will recommend and would return to if ever planning to stay in the area on a future trip. There is one step within the unit, so good for someone with minor mobility issues and a shower room so no issues there.

We had an excellent stay here over the New Year. The cottage is fairly compact, but the four of us never felt cramped. The facilities were excellent, and the decor and level of finish were first class. The cottage is within a walled garden and feels secluded even though it's just off a very busy A-road. The area is great for walking, with Ashdown Forest literally across the road. The pub opposite is part of a chain that offers a fairly standard sub-gastropub menu, and the beer was decently kept. Overall, the cottage kept us warm and very comfortable during what was a frosty week. If we return to the area, we'll definitely stay here again.
