On arrival we were greeted by a professional and handsome man named Moe. Well presented, friendly and witty. Great sense of humour and happy to help. Ask him about thier complementary pengiuns penguins during the winter months in the igloos. The rooms were well presented and the conference centre on level 5 had great views. The gym although small had everything needed for a good workout. The dining staff were lovely and attentive. All staff were extremely polite and helpful. Great stay.

I am a fan of Bonvoy chains of hotels, I was so looking forward to this new hotel. I departed the hotel with major disappointment due to the service towards Asian tourists. I asked for a cup of Cafe Latte from a server or sort of barista last Sunday morning, she told me that I would have to get my cup of latte from the coffee machine at the back. After I settled in at my table, I witnessed that there were a couple of local Australian guests who had been served with their cups of Cafe Latte by the same server/barista. Perhaps it is because the barista service is limited only to the local Australia guests or Caucasian customers. I made a complain to hotel but I get only radio silence from the hotel. 😡

I stayed at the hotel for a Friday night in the first couple of weeks after it opened in July 2019. Reflecting the fact that it’s a brand new property, the ‘hard’ product of beds, rooms and design is actually quite nice and comfortable, if basic. The only staff member I interacted with was a receptionist who checked me in - she was cheery and great, and offered me a glass of sparkling. Where the property falls down is the quality of its services and amenities. The quality of the in-room amenities like bath products is well below the standard for the price that you’re paying (combined shampoo & conditioner in a pump pack screwed to the wall). Despite the relatively isolated location, there’s no mini bar or 24 hour room service. The “pantry” downstairs is pretty light on too, while the breakfast in the cafe seems fine if a little uninspired - especially for a hotel in Richmond/Hawthorn - though, I concede that I only looked briefly and decided to go elsewhere. The biggest insult was the fact that overnight parking is $35 per night! This might be justifiable in the city, but when there’s ample free parking on Yarra Boulevard just metres away, it seems to me that only the unaware would stump up to pay the price. All up, it’s a perfectly fine hotel to stay at if you’re working at the business park or at Melbourne Uni’s Burnley campus next door, but most people travelling to Richmond and Melbourne will get a better mix of price, location and amenity elsewhere.

Dear ryancropp, Thank you for reviewing your recent stay with us at Element Melbourne Richmond. Whilst we strive to provide exceptional service in all aspects of the hotel we sincerely apologise for your less than wonderful experience. Albeit not having an inroom minibar, the hotel's gourmet pantry, does have a selection of snacks, toiletries and wines & beers. Thank you for your positive feedback regarding your checkin experience and inroom design features. We hope to welcome you again when your travels bring you back to Melbourne. Live well & stay whole. Warm regards, Giovanna Aviolo Rooms Division Manager

We stayed for just one night exactly a week after the hotel opened. It has been carefully designed with lots of smart, modern efficient and environmentally conscious touches. Staff were very helpful. Rooms are a little small, we did complain about this & staff were very understanding and moved us to a bigger room.

Staff went out of their way to make you feel welcome. Hotel very new, modern and very clean. The food there was probably the best I’ve eaten. Thanks to all at Element Melbourne. Will definitely stay again!
