As Rewards members with Platinum Elite status for both IHG and Marriott, we travel very frequently and stay in many hotels in various regions of the country. After a bad experience in Overland Park in July at another brand's hotel, we were hesitant to stay at any hotel in this area again. After spending lots of time reading many current reviews of hotels, we noticed that the Holiday Inn Express Olathe West had the best reviews. We stayed there and had a wonderful time! The customer service is superb, this beautiful new hotel is clean, and the staff really has its act together! They even serve a nice breakfast (look in the refrigerator for the omelets and breakfast sandwiches individually wrapped to heat up). Most hotels in the KC Metro area still have a bag breakfast. The soccer complex next door keeps them busy with guests, but we didn't hear any extra noise or see a crowd at breakfast. We think the soccer complex is a plus because it gives them regular business so they can keep their staff and operations going smoothly. We highly recommend this hotel!…
Very pleased with the holiday inn.Family was expecting something different they were pleasantly surprised. Brand new very nice would recommend staying there any time. bed we’re very comfy, Overall my wife is very happy and she’s usually not happy about anything.
Stayed two nights at this location and was not disappointed, but I do have a few suggestions. Pros: 1) Hotel is easy to access, being just off the highway exit on K-10. Take the Ridgeview exit, even if Garmin tells you to take Woodland. 2) Hotel is very new and pristine appearing. Styling is modern and attractive. It’s only six months old, and is very well-appointed with lots of places to charge electronics. 3) Has microwave, refrigerator, and adjustable flat-screen television. Sofa folds out into a bed, though the extra bed can’t be screened off from the main bed. 4) I really liked the shampoo, conditioner, and lotion they used. It comes in full size bottles in the shower, which I generally prefer, rather than dealing with the tiny bottles, although that did lead to one of my problems. 5) The free breakfast is better than average for most hotels, featuring buffet style eggs, sausage, bacon, egg white omelet, biscuits and gravy, cinnamon rolls, yogurt and milk, cereal, juices, breads, and coffee. They do not have potatoes, if this is important. They do not have a waffle iron, but the do have a pancake dispenser. I did not try this one, as I have not been impressed with the quality of pancakes in the past, but if you have children, they would probably enjoy watching the pancakes being made. They also generously offer to-go bags, in case you need to eat breakfast on the go, which I find spectacularly generous. Late afternoon they also put out a display of Otis Spunkmeyer cookies, and the coffee from the morning stays out in the urns during the day. There is a hot water dispenser, so hot tea is always available, even if the coffee gets cold. 6) Fitness room is fairly spacious, and there is also a laundry facility, which I did not use, but assume is coin operated. A load of laundry goes for $1.75, and I did not see dryers, but maybe the same machine does both. 7) There is a pretty comprehensive market place with snacks, microwaveable foods, and convenience store type items, such as medications and condoms. The hotel does offer complimentary toothbrush, razor, and comb on request. 8) Hotel was comfortable and quiet. All of the staff was pleasant and welcoming. Cons: 1) Biggest one for me was the absence of free bottles of water. It’s available in the marketplace, but it seems to me that if a hotel is generous enough to offer breakfast in to-go bags, a couple of bottles of water in the room would make good sense. Even a cooler in the lobby area with a filtered water dispenser would be a considerate addition. 2) The bottles of shampoo and conditioner in the shower are usually a plus for me, but in this case, the bottles are covered with an opaque label, and the bottles are bolted in, so they can’t be lifted to see if they are full or not. In my case, I ran out of conditioner, and if you have hair that runs down most of the way down your back, in the shower is not when you want to find out that you are out of conditioner. 3) If it’s important to you to be green, I found that they still replaced the towels with new ones, even though their signage states that they do not, if the towel is hanging. It was not an issue for me, but if you are someone who would be upset by that, be aware that they may still be reaching fully green state. 4) Location is easy to access, but it’s probably not within walking distance off anywhere you want to go. There are a few small restaurants nearby, but based on the number of cars there, I am guessing that they are places to go so you won’t get hungry, not places you go because you want to. 5) It has a really nice-looking meeting space in the lobby which can be closed off by large garage style doors. I did not investigate how one would reserve the room, if necessary. But you should be aware that the room is not at all soundproof. It’s right next to the breakfast area, and sitting in the middle of the breakfast area with the Weather Channel playing on the wall, conversations in the meeting room were clearly audible, even with the doors closed. In fact, it sounded as if there were no doors at all. Mostly the audible conversation was at a slightly higher sound level, such as you might speak if you were laughing or emphasizing a point. So quiet conversation might be private. And in fairness, if it’s not breakfast time, there will probably not be many people hanging out in that part of the lobby. But if you are really trying to hold a private meeting, I would suggest having someone stand outside the door to test the privacy of the room. In all, I would definitely stay here again, but I’ll bring my own water and plan to eat elsewhere.…
I really enjoyed my stay at this Holiday Inn. I found it clean, rooms were very comfortable and quiet. There were lots of nice touches for travelers. The room I was in had a barn door that separated the entry door from the bedroom area to reduce hallway noise. There was a corner counter that you could use to plug in your devices and a really great working desk. I also thought the bathroom was very nice- big shower and bright lighting. I used to stay at another hotel in the area but this will be my new go-to moving forward.
