Our family really enjoyed our tour last night on the electric boat. We chose this tour over others due to their environmentally friendly practices and their concern for preserving the fragile ecosystem in biobay. Staff were friendly and we enjoyed the interactive portion of the tour. It was also very informative learning about the bioluminesence. Our guide had a really cool laser pointer for showing us the star constellations. Definitely recommend.

Our family had a great time at Bioluminescence Bay. We took the electric boat which was the best way to enjoy this natural wonder! So quiet and peaceful! There's are open areas on the bottom of the boat so you can sit and put your feet in the water. On the way there, they point out constellations and on the way back, they stopped to show us the small jellyfish which are in the bay. Highly recommend this tour!

Great tour. Nice and easy paddle to the bay and fun being on the water in the dark to see the stars. Seeing the water light up is a really cool experience.

Shorter points:
Pros:
-Easy relaxing activity
-Great for families
-Very cool natural phenomenon
-Booking was easy
-Guides and Owner were very polite
-Clear instructions from the beginning to the end
-Showers and rinse off stations are readily available nearby
-Equipment appeared to be well kept
-Small groups for the tour, not an overwhelming amount of people
Cons:
- Very slightly difficult to locate (maybe put a video of the drive in on the website?)
-If you are more into thrill seeking, this may be too gentle/relaxed for you
- There were mosquitos in the waiting area, not really within the control of the company, but something to keep in mind. Bring bug spray.
For some background, we arrived at Grand Cayman Sept. 7th and this was the first activity on our itinerary. We booked for the 7 PM kayak tour. I was slightly confused about the location because there are two sets of barrels that say Rum Point but it only took us about a minute to find the correct location. After arriving and greeting the owner, Tom, we waited a few minutes for the other parties to arrive. We were asked to sign waivers and allowed to check out merchandise while we waited. Once introduced to our tour guide, David, we were given some basic instruction on maneuvering the kayaks and then we got in and began our journey to the bioluminescent bay.
The water was warm and calm and the stars were stunning. On the way to the bay David showed us some of the constellations and we were able to catch a beautiful sliver of the Milky Way. I was impressed by his knowledge of the stars! After a bit of paddling our guide instructed us to look down at our paddles. At first it was small sparkles, but once we got further into the bay we noticed more reactivity. We were also allowed to hop off of our kayaks and swim with the microscopic organisms and watch them sparkle around us. My partner was stung by a jellyfish and our tour guide was prepared with vinegar and some ointment so we appreciated that. On our way back we were given the opportunity to see a Cassiopeia Jellyfish which was, to me, very cute.
Overall a neat excursion, and good first option for arriving at Grand Cayman. I would recommend it. Keep in mind social media may have you believe that it is extremely bright, but I found it difficult to capture pictures. It is still an incredible phenomenon that I loved experiencing.

This was a great way to see the bio bay. Guide was super pleasant and quite knowledgeable. The kayaking part is easy even if you haven’t done much, and the guide makes a point of stopping several times to give everyone breaks. The group size was very manageable. A few of the group got out of the kayaks and swam with the bioluminescence plankton, which was fun to watch. Would definitely do this again.

I have paddled Bio Bay at night, but this guided tour exceeded my experience. The guide was funny, helpful, and knowledgeable. The stroll on the calm water was so serene. We stopped to view constellations, shooting stars, and an upside-down jellyfish. I have been coming to Bio Bay since I was a kid and learned more about it in one night than I have all this time. Kayaking is the best way to experience the bio plankton. I still cannot believe how vibrant they are, and this tour was a great way to connect with God's captivating creations.

Approximately how many people are on the electric boat? We have a group of 4, just wondering how many other parties would be with us

Bioluminescence kayak tour... we are visiting Cayman in March and are just wondering if there is a preferable time to do the tour, 7:15 pm vs 9:15 pm? Is there much of a difference?
Scritta in data 29 gennaio 2019
Ugh...so sorry. Just seeing this. I hope you went and enjoyed the tour! We went on the earlier tour because it was our arrival day and we knew we would be tired. Even as Hurricane Michael was tossing waves around this end of the island was calm and clear. Any time is a good time to go!
Scritta in data 31 marzo 2019
are these tours available all the time or only seasonal?
Scritta in data 25 agosto 2018
They are available all year but the moon cycle must be correct. Contact them via email with your travel dates and they will reply pretty quickly. Great tour. Great people.

We are not doing the kayaks but going by boat. What should we wear and bring? Thank you!
Scritta in data 17 febbraio 2018
I didn't need bug spray but I don't really get affected by mosquitos. My wife does and there were only mosquitos when waiting to get on the boat. Shorts and sandals are all that's needed.

What is the cost, and do they have a shuttle that will pick you up at hotel?
Scritta in data 3 gennaio 2017
I don't know about the shuttle, you could ask at your hotel. Cost was $59

I would like to tour on Saturday evening at 5 July 23 for three people. The website doesn't work and i tried the email link. Please respond asap. Thanks!

HI, we are going to GC, the week of July 23, is the bioluminescent tour only from June 20-July 7 or will new dates be posted
Scritta in data 30 giugno 2016
You'd have to check with them, they only run when it's dark enough to see the bioluminescence.
Scritta in data 3 luglio 2016
Hi,
Just wondering when did you do the Bioluminescent Tour? and where did you depart from?
Scritta in data 9 agosto 2015
Hi, just saw your question!
We did the tour on or around July 17th this past summer and departed from Rum Point. Had a great time! I remember there being an island-wide power outage that day for about 5 or 6 hours!
Scritta in data 4 febbraio 2016
Hello, So sorry just noticed the message. The Bioluminescent Tours are running May 5th-21st and June 4th-20th.
