Akbar's tomb in Sikandra is a beautiful monument. Elegant and majestic, a perfect match for the greatest of Mughal emperors, Akbar. You can actually visit the tomb where sound reverberates for almost a minute. The environment inside is calm and peaceful. The architecture is magnificent and the inlay work is mesmerizing.

Even for a traveler who has already seen the Agra wonders, the visit to this tomb preserves a special interest, artistic and historical together.
Artistic interest, because in any case the architectural and decorative solutions of this monument appear something different from those that the traveler has already seen or will see in Agra and its surroundings. When I was in Sikandra, I had already visited the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri in the previous days, but I had not seen anything like the "Sancta Sanctorum" of Akbar's burial chamber, secluded and disturbing as a tomb of ancient Egypt.
Even the carvings in stone, both on the external and internal walls, and on the ceilings, are of uncommon beauty. And above all, the overall architectural volumetry of the tomb of other buildings and of garedens deserves attention, because it features all the magnificence of the great Mughal architecture.
From a historical point of view, this is the tomb of the greatest among the Mughal emperors, who decidedly expanded and consolidated the dynasty domains in India, reorganized the state, carried out a policy of wide inclusion towards non-Muslims (the majority of his subjects).
This place has therefore also a great symbolic value.

This is the place where Akbar was buried along with his first wife.
After vising this you can understand that many tajmahal architect was copied from this place.
In all the outside open rooms, if you clap standing in the middle of the room then you can only hear the vibration others cannot. This is a interesting feature.
Take a guide who can explain it better.
This is a must visit site if you are in Agra. From Agra this is 40km away.

Akbar's tomb is one of the jewels of architecture in Agra that you really should try to visit. Akbar himself was the most famous and enlightened of the Mughal Emperors (the builder of Fatepur Sikri and many other monuments). The tomb itself inside the grand mausoleum is very simple and atmospheric, while the gardens within the walls of the tomb are very well kept and are filled with antelope and peacocks. The calligraphy around the main entrance is unusual in that it has been signed by it's creator.

Well Agra Cantt to Sikandra distance is around 10-12 Km, depend on rout you will take , time approx 25-35 minutes . Well Better to take rental service cab by Uber , ola or any other Taxi Service Company , do not take Pick and Drop service. if you take pick and drop then it`s more chances that you will not get taxi or cab sikendra to Agra or Agra Cantt, Because all taxi which will in Sikandra already hired or they will charge more then double .
