Gaumukh is a beautiful place. It's a 750 meter trek up a rugged path from the parking (very small parking) to the top. Then it's about a 700 steps descent to the place where the main temple is. The entire path is breathtaking because its part of a green jungle. The steps are easy to navigate though some are quite big. There was nobody on our entire path, so we felt a little scared, but it was actually very safe. Definitely worth visiting if you are physically fit

Nice place...But
Few locals residing just at the starting point of the hill, has put an Gate on the staring point .
They tell you to put your vehicle inside
the gate, but when you return back , the will lock the gate and shouting & abusing you . They will not allow you to leave, until you pay them few thousand rupees .
I went through all this, while I visited gaumukh with my family.

What a place it is!! Awesome and a must visit place in Mount Abu. Going down 750~ steps from the parking place is Gaumukh temple. Just after going 10-15 more steps is the Vashishth Rishi Ashram. The place is very calm and it has its different aura. Though the stairs are a bit more but safe to go in day time as it's totally in forest area. Should return before 4pm-5pm. You might get less crowd there but really worth going there.

Located ~5 km south of Nakki lake. Gaumukh temple can be reached by climbing down ~700 steps. You can witness ever flowing water from Gaumukh (Cow mouth). Further down you can visit the main temple and ashram complex.
A must visit place when you visit Mount Abu.

This place has nothing much to offer. The approach road is extremely nerrow and terriblely in bad shape till the point . it's more like adventure. it won't make you feel happy but only disappoint is waiting to welcome you. To go down and than to come back on top, with those uneven steps takes all energy from you with out offering you any good views or fun .
My advice don't go with kids. Don't even think if you are not physically fit. It's not for high blood pressure . It's over related site location as tourist attractions. Don't waste your time to visit this point of attraction/place when in Mount Abu. Rajasthan. India .thank you. : Hiren Parikh

Gaumukh temple is one of the most popular sacred sites for Hindus in Mount Abu. Climb the height of 700 stairs to arrive at the temple and also adore a panoramic view of the surrounding area. Water stream falls from the mouth of the bull statue. Devotees and tourists throng the temple in equal numbers, all round the year. Don't go in monsoons and summers.

A very popular place to visit in Mount Abu. Particularly for the people who love to visit various temples. However, reaching near God has always been very difficult. One needs to climb 700 steps to reach the top most section of the temple. But the feeling is divine once you reach there. Many interesting stories are associated with the formation of this temple. Hence, it is advisable to hire a local guide who will tell you lot of stories associated with this temple. The temple has a stone carved cow's head that has a natural spring flowing through the mouth of a marble cow. A very interesting sight and place to visit.
