Ashamed to say I took me way too long to visit this stunning park. The waters are magnificent in blue and temperate. About a 15-20 hike from parking easy for almost everyone including young kids. The main attraction is worth it. Come prepare with your swim suit if you want to take a dip ( there is no where easy to change). If you have water shoes even better but not necessary the rocks are not sharp. Amazing and so well worth the visit..like I said ashamed it took so long when you live 2.5 hours away.

So much fun! A little crowded. I noticed a lot of people didn't wear water/trail shoes, who seemed to wish that they had. Mosquitoes were biting, too. The trail was leading there was easy and well-maintained. The view is spectacular.

My hike from the parking lot at Cypress Lake campground was beautiful and challenging. The landscape varies from flat and easy to rocky and more difficult, but the trails are well-marked and the scenery stunning.

This use to be a beautiful place to visit and stay as long as you wish, NOW you have to book an appointment to visit and are only allowed a 3 hour stay. Oh and the best part is the tourist hate you being there and will do everything in their power to get rid of you.

Winter Yurt camping!!
Great winter camping experience. Was very cold but stoked the wood stove to keep us warm and cozy inside. Be prepared to buy a lot of wood in the winter (when -15 C or below) to keep you warm. Bring some fire starter to get the fire going quickly upon arrival. The yurts were very clean and the staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. The yurts have a large deck with table and chairs, bbq as well as a fire chimnea. Most needed essentials are provided such as a snow shovel, indoor broom, fire extinguisher and alarm. Bring your own bedding, food, dishes and pots, games and warm clothes. Sleds and carts are provided for bringing your stuff to the yurt from your vehicle parking. BBQ with side burner (and propane) are provided- just bring your own BBQ brush and tools, pots and pans. The cooler was allowed to be kept in the yurt as bears are not active in winter. We found the beds to be surprisingly comfortable- bring some fitted sheets so you aren’t sleeping on the vinyl mattress cover. Sleeps 5. The park provides you with a battery operated lantern but you will want to bring your own and flashlights to give you more light in the evening. There is no electricity (and generators are not allowed) so plan accordingly. Cell phone reception was one bar (Bell) so limited. There is a clean modern heated washroom building nearby exclusively for yurt campers with showers. The trails to the coast in winter are very different from the summer. Absolutely beautiful and a must see. Tried some ice fishing but didn’t catch anything alas. Besides winter camping I think the yurts would be outstanding in the fall as well. We love the yurts and highly recommend as a fun experience.

Cyprus lake is beautiful. Water is beautiful and pretty clear.
We took the horse lake trail, which starts close to head of trails and is has a small section to walk around cyprus lake.
Good trail when at bruce peninsula park - especially since the grotto and area is always going to be packed.

Since the nearest parking to the Grotto was unavailable and completely booked for the upcoming 3 weeks, we figured it would be fun to do the 2 hour hike to the Grotto from here.
Upon arrival, we were told the parking was full and that it was better to come back 2-3 hours later. We turned around, drove for about 10 minutes and then came back to give our phone number to the employee so he could call us if any spots opened up. He immediately told us that it was OK for us to enter, since we were from Quebec and we drove about 9 hours to get to this place. Thank you to Jeff, the employee at the front desk for answering all of our questions, being very friendly and extremely helpful by letting us in!!!!
The hike was totally worth it, the views are breathtaking, although you cannot enter the Grotto due to COVID. It was very relaxing, the water is at a lovely temperature as well, it is possible to swim on a sunnier day (just be careful because the rocks are slippery).
There are bathrooms at the beginning of the trail.
Bring your food with you, as well as water bottles since it's impossible to fill them up onsite.

The trails take you to beautiful lookouts but the trail can get tricky, make sure to look out for the coloured markers. Running shoes or hiking shoes are recommended.

Just another lovely place to see, aqua waters, and clean and clear. Just a nice place to walk or sit and think and see the beauty.

We are staying at the birches campground. Can we hike to the grotto or do you have to have a parking pass and drive in? Also it says no fires after 11 and no alcohol after 10. Does anyone know how enforced this is? Kinda ruins camping doesn't it ....

We are staying in a cabin nearby and booked a parking pass . We have some friend who want to camp there and will meet us in the parking lot to hike to the grotto. Which campground is closest to the parking ? Thanks

Hi,we’re going to camp in tamarack camp ground with our dog this coming August. Is it possible to walk from the camp ground to the grotto and how long would it take? I’m trying to look for the trail map but can’t find one.
Scritta in data 10 febbraio 2019
No, you can not walk into the Grotto. You must drive in. That is how they regulate the area. Also, I’m not sure about your dog. I would research that some more. I do not recall seeing one dog there during our visit.

I’m planning on visiting with a friend next summer, I will be 16 and he will be 17. Would we be able to get a campsite?
Scritta in data 8 ottobre 2018
I am unsure if that, you should check their website for that information. I would not want to give you the wrong information!!
You’ll have a great time!

I believe you will be able to book a campsite as my daughter was always able to as long as you give home address and can pay for the site

Hi, we are camping at cyprus lake soon. Do you mean that parking reservation for the grotto is necessary even if you camp there? How far is the walk from cyprus lake camping ground to the grotto? Thank you.
Scritta in data 12 agosto 2018
I believe the parking reservations are for daily visits only. The trail from the camp grounds to the grotto could take as little as 20 minutes or if birding like we were, several hours. Contact Parks Canada to get more details when you pre-book the camp ground reservation. They are very helpful.

I'm looking to book for the yurt for a few nights. Could anyone advise on food preparing? Like what to bring and places to buy things. Thanks.

There is a Foodland grocery store in Tobermory which is a medium size store and provides a good selection of food items.

How close are the private shower facilities to Cypress Lake Provincial Park? I’ve heard they cost $2, but how long of a shower does that get you?
Scritta in data 11 luglio 2018
Sorry I do not know. Suggest you contact the Bruce park office by email. They usually respond fairly quickly.

Hello!
I saw your post on your Tobermory experience! My boyfriend and I really want to go but we dont know where to pick camping that is closest to this? Where do you guys stay? Thanks so much for you help!!
Scritta in data 18 giugno 2018
We stay in Tobermory rather than camp but you can camp at Cyprus Lake - reserve well in advance. Grandview Motel and Escarpment motel off reasonable room prices. Parks Canada has camping for The Bruce on their Bruce web site.
Enjoy.
