A great walk with epic views of the Moehau Range, the rugged coastline, and the surrounding islands. Good, well-maintained track. Also worth making a side trip to the top of Sugar Loaf (not a marked track) for the best views. If with a group it is best to leave a vehicle at each end and swap keys, or if you want to do a return trip but can't do the whole track I would suggest going from Fletchers Bay to the lookout point and back.

Had a great experience, very laid back and cruisey atmosphere! Was great being able to walk the walkway in one direction. The bike ride was really scenic and we stopped for swims on the way back too. Definitely could not have bikes 30 km without an ebike! Would highly recommend 😊

We did an overnight trip to do the Coastal Walk. We stayed in Fletcher's Bay Campground and the walk goes to the Stony Bay campgrounds, just follow the orange trail marks. The return trip took us about 6 hours at a fairly leisurely pace. I found that the walk itself was mostly easy with a light gradient. The start bit from Fletcher's Bay was quite an uphill and there was also a section near Poley Bay in the middle of the walk that had a steep downhill and uphill section.
The views along the walk was very scenic. The views over the water to the various islands was really nice. There was also a lookout which had a nice view of the surrounds which included our destination, Stoney Bay. It was a bit of a climb to get to the lookout though, but it was short (about 5 minutes).
The walk from Fletcher's Bay was on farmland so it was quite open. After that section, most of the walk was covered under the bush which was quite nice. The path was fairly wide, possibly due to that being a biking path too. There were also a few stops along the way between the campsites including Poley Bay and a lookout point. It was quite an enjoyable day tramp.

We were a group of 8 riders biking the full 70km loop on Electric Mountain Bikes. We started and finished at Port Charles. The walk itself (10km) was excellent with a good mixture of native bush and farmland. There were a few hairy bits on the edge of cliffs and pushing the bikes up the 200m hill after Pokey bay was hard. The look out was worth the 5 min detour. If you doing the 70km loop there are about 5 large hills (and downhills) so conserve the battery or you will run out. The flat coastal ride from Fantail Bay to Colville turn off is rutty and can be dusty but not too many cars are on the road.

We stayed at Tangiaro Kiwi Retreat, a 25 min drive on metal road to Stony Bay where we parked our car by the camp ground. We had picture perfect weather and the walk did not disappoint. The first hour was mostly under canopy with a lookout point at the top with stunning views. Stony Bay to Fletcher Bay return trip took us approx 6 hours incl lunch break and photo stops. A great walking track and a must do if over on the Coromandel.

This is a fantastic walk in a quite remote part of NZ. We started from Stony Bay and didn't have time to go the total distance return. There is a Lookout about 1 and a half hours from Stony Bay and this was a good turnaround point. The views of the coast and native bush are all great....there has been quite an effort to get rid of predators and it is great to see the positive impact with more native birds and less damage to trees.....well done to everyone involved in this effort. We loved everything about this walk

We had an amazing trip with Coromandel Discovery that featured much more than just the walk with lots of lovely stops on the way to and back from the main Costal Walk itself. We saw a 1000 year old Pohutakawa and stop for coffee in a beautiful cafe. Both things we would have missed doing the drive ourselves.

The walk was awesome with some great views (see pics). We had wonderful weather with no wind which helped, but there is lots of shelter in the bush if the weather isn't so great on your walk.

All in all a great walk made better by Gavin from Coromandel Discovery.

A well built path with a gentle gradient, you're in and out of the bush with some great view points - make sure you take every one! Also make sure if leaving stony bay campsite that you don't accidentally take the mountain bike track.... we had two lovely walks!

We drove from Coromandel Town to Stoney Bay which did take quite a while as it was roughly 30 km on a gravel road. I expected the start of the walk to be in the middle of nowhere and was very surprised to find an amazing campsite at the end of the road. This spectacular 10 km each way walk isn't too difficult or strenuous apart from a short stretch down to Poley Bay.
