Okay, first of all this property has a private owner. It's his backyard, I guess, so he can dish out any price he wants. He looks Native to PR. he told my husband in Spanish that is $11 per car load and $1 per person. I ask him is Spanglish Oh I thought it was $5 per car and $1 pp? He got irate with me, so nasty and said It's my property, I can charge what I want. He seemed drunk. His family and friends on his porch laughed. My husband asked me if I still wanted to go, it was $16 for my party of 5. I said Ok because we drove around a little lost and I didn't want to disappoint my kids. Anyway, we hiked down is poorly kept property. It was not too slippery because it was a dry day. I met another family and asked them how much they paid, it was about the same. So the price went up, I guess. The water looked extremely cloudy, dirty so my family did not want to get in it so we just watch other people slide down the rugged slide saying ouch, oh my back, lol. We were warned by a local to not get in any rivers that run behind private homes because their is a sewage problem. We wish we would have listened. Well, you live and learn.

The place is incredible, the force of the water that comes down in a canyon. The river was very swollen, and we couldn't go down the slides. In any case, we were warned by the parking owners that bathing was prohibited.

Great place to explore with the family. Natural rock slides, pools to swim in, rocks to jump off, waterfalls. $5 for parking, and $1 per person. For $10 for our family of 5 we had a fantastic day of exploring. Our kids- 9,13,16 had a blast and so did us parents!

This is a cool hidden spot. Totally submersed in the rain forest feel, Be super careful as the rocks to get into the slide are very slippery. Explore both up and down stream from the actual main slide. There is another easier slide down stream. Lots of boulders to walk around on. $5per car, $1 per person to us the private residences access down to the stream. This is very close to Angelita Trail Entrance.(Road from EYNF is closed, so need to go all the way around) . Worth doing both at same time.

SO FUN! Can't miss this!!
$5 park, $1 per person
SLIPPERY to climb, but worth it -- if you brave all the way to the top you would enjoy private pools in the river -- a favorite bonding time with just our family. Also, further down the slide is a small cliff jumping pool...All, just so fun! Say Hi to Luis (great english!) who helped us park and get situated

Las Pailas natural waterslides are NOT part of El Yunque National forest. This is not a real Yunque national forest tour. Dont be fooled by offered tours that will take you to "El Yunque" because this waterlides are NOT part of it. The waterslides are locates on road 983 on a private property. You will need to pay $$ to the owner of the property and he will give you access to the river through his "backyard". To do the real Yunque rainforest tour you will need to contact an authorized tour operator with the permits and insurance to do so or you can do it on your own since the main recreational area with waterfalls, observation towers, hiking trails are free.

This is a natural rock slide. Please be sure to wear your water shoes at all times. They were big rocks in the water as well.

Lots of fun! Wear socks only instead of water shoes, like the locals. It has better grip. Be careful when walking up rocks. You can do half the slide if wanting to try it at first.

Las Paylas is a cool spot to visit as part of an El Yunque visit. Wear sandals with a heel strap or at least socks for better traction. Crouch walk up the rocks on the right-hand side. Try to crouch down as you walk so your hand is ready to catch you if you slip.
When you go down the slide, put your hands out to the side to stabilize, sit upright (engage your core), don't lie back. It looks scary but is just super fun. Everyone looks terrified the first time they go down. The water at the bottom is only 4 feet deep and the swirling of water is just like at the end of a normal water slide (momentarily confusing but not dangerous). The water is cool but not cold.
Our 6 and 9 year old kids are somewhat adventurous and they frickin' looked it!
50 yards downstream there is a smaller slide and a rock ledge to jump off (about 6 feet high into 6 feet of water - do not dive).
We parked at the green house ($5) directly up the hill from the river. It's a 2-minute walk.
Las Paylas can be nicely paired with a visit to El Angelito but save Las Paylas as your second stop. It's cooler.

Yelp says this place “closes” at 4pm. Does anyone know if that’s true or just made up by someone? Does the guy in the pink or green house stop people going in? (Sun sets ~7pm this time of year… we want to make the trek but don’t want to get cut off right after we get there)

Is this appropriate for a 4 and 6 year old?

Is there anyway to contact the guy that lives there? What if he’s not there? Is there a box by the gate to pay?
Scritta in data 7 settembre 2019
I believe he’s always there. This appears to be a source of income for him.

How deep is the water you slide or jump
into? Is there a lifeguard?
Scritta in data 7 luglio 2018
There is no lifeguard anywhere along the river; it is all on private property. The upper slide goes into a pool 2-4 feet deep; the lower one, where you jump in off the boulders, varies quite a bit, but is about the same. It's a little deeper where you jump in off the rocks (maybe 5-6), but not so deep that you'd want to dive in.

What do you do with your belongings while you’re swimming and sliding there?
Scritta in data 11 febbraio 2018
Claim a spot and leave them on the rocks. We had grandparents who sat with our belongings while we played. Some people take turns watching while members in their group play in the water. Many people just watched and didn’t all do the jumping/rope swing. Depends on your group.

Where can I find directions to this place?
Scritta in data 21 aprile 2016
The address is available by using your Google maps application. However, it will be wise yo ask a local for additional information. They are very friendly and willing to assist.
The entrance has nothing to let you know that you've arrived except two blue 100 gallons drones with the name "Las Paylas handwritten on them in white letters. It is towards the mountains, sonif you're going up,you are good to go....
Hope this helps...take care

Is there anyway you can get a taxi there and back from the La Concha hotel?

Nooooo! Take an Uber! A taxi ride from La Concha will cost an arm and a leg! Save that extra cash and pay off your student loans!

has anybody stayed at hotel banos de coamo? Do guests of the hotel get to stay in the hot springs later than the public? After 5pm? Having trouble finding a link to book online as well.
Scritta in data 19 gennaio 2015
Las Playas is not by any hotel and definitely not hot springs. It is gorgeous waterfalls and cold pools beneath them.
