We visited the Railway on a Sunday billed as bus day. There were TWO buses (only one to ride on) a coach, a post office van and a one very old car ! which was a bit disappointing. The bus ride was fun but we were annoyed that tickets were not checked and a couple of passengers had not bought a ticket.
The cafe could have been okay, but the only gluten free food was one choice of cake. They could have made an extra tenner out of us if they had bought a loaf of G/F bread at least. This is very poor for 2021 and leaves visitors feeling unwelcome and un catered for
. The train ride was interesting if a little short (I know plans are afoot to extend) Overall it was a nice afternoon, but The catering left a lot to be desired and the BUS exhibition was less than impressive.

Huge thanks to the entire volunteer team at the Middy, for a fantastic day today. Their Train Driver Experience was a gift to my Dad for his 70th.
My Dad and the rest of the family, including two young children and two small dogs, were warmly welcomed by everyone at the Middy.
So much care was extended to us all. Not only was everyone so friendly, but we also learnt a huge amount.
I cannot recommend the Train Driver Experience highly enough. We had the entirety of the Middy to ourselves and it was not just a hugely special day for my Dad, but for all of my family too.
Massive, massive thanks to an absolutely lovely and dedicated group of people

A fabulous day out for family and railway enthusiasts. All the volunteer staff were most welcoming and friendly and the disabled member of our party was really looked after. Thoroughly recommended.

A Big Thank You to all the volunteers who have worked so hard to make it possible for this little station to open again.
Visited today, June 1st, and all the precautions and measures you had put in place, made it safe and a lovely day.
The exhibits, stands and displays were set out well and lovely to look round.
The food being served from the Café was excellent.
We always enjoy our days out here and so decided to become members a month ago.
Keep up the good work and we'll be visiting again soon.

What an absolute treat, all the volunteers/staff dressed in period costume and delivering us to Santa at the North pole. Live steam engine and appropriate rolling stock, and a story teller when we got back to the yard. Santa was great what's not to like. We'll be returning when open season starts. Only gave it 4stars because it's only a half mile run, but I understand they have acquired another half mile, permissions pending.

All the volunteers were pleasant and really enjoyed sharing their railway with the members of the public. The day that we visited was special event day so there were 3 locomotives in steam and Seraphite just on display. There were agricultural machinery and a large steam roller as well as some vintage cars. The cafe was very busy serving drinks and snacks. The home made sausage rolls were delicious and served hot. The train ride is quite short but there are plans to extend the line in the future. The beautifully restored coaches truly represented the type that would have been used on this railway many years ago. There is small workshop where a steam locomotive was being restored. There was also some diesel locomotive on display. Lots to see and I have not even mentioned the museum, the real ale carriage and the model locomotives also on display. Well worth going on an event day.

Ok, so the line is quite short (400m) but they are working on an extension which will more than double this. The authenticity and light railway atmosphere are what impressed me most. The 4 wheel coaches with wooden seats, the small locos and other rolling stock, etc. The buildings and platform furniture all add to the experience. The staff are all friendly and helpful and obviously enjoy being there. The cafe was good and the museum, although small, informative and worth seeing. A very nice informal atmosphere and it is possible to visit all areas, including workshops. I look forward to a return visit and maybe 'mixed' trains one day!

A great day on an excellent heritage railway. Interesting collection of stock, including a Cockerill steam tram, an Aveling-Porter tram loco, from the Longshop Museum, Leiston, plus an ex LNER tank loco. there are also two Ruston diesel shunters in service AND Fowler number 1, the Shredded Wheat shunter from Nabisco's WGC, now fully restored and in service. Great real ale bar on site in an old GER carriage and trains comprise of two ex GER wooden bodied carriages. Staff are very welcoming and happy to chat about the line. A great day out for enthusiasts, families and anybody else. Check on line for running days.

Such eager and knowledgable volunteers at this lovely little railway museum and steaming days. Have special days and the village folk gather for food and bar on a Friday night.

This railway is not very long but what they have done is to a very high standard and well worth a visit. The 4 wheel coaches which we travelled in are in a remarkable state of preservation and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. All of the facilities were of a very high standard. We had lunch in the cafe and really enjoyed it.

Just wondered what the tea rooms offer in terms of food? Also what's the museum like and how long would it take to walk around it? Thanks

Basic things like scones and crisps, ice cream etc.
I would say 15 mins to talk around the whole thing, it's very small.
Are dogs allowed and are u open next week?

Hello Angela. Dogs are most welcome at the Middy, however we are not open next week as we're now closed until the end of November.
